Elena's POV
I shook my head and stepped back. "You're wrong. Nobody told me about this."
"That's right, you weren't informed," Dorian said, moving closer. "But my uncle's visiting, and my mother thought it'd be good for you to meet the family properly." He gave a casual shrug.
My grip on the file tightened, my heart racing. Something in Dorian's expression felt calculated—this whole thing seemed too orchestrated.
"I don't think..." I started, glancing toward Oliver sleeping on the bed. "My son, you understand—"
"He can join us," Dorian cut in smoothly.
My breath caught. "No. That's impossible. He just came home from the hospital."
"Exactly because he's recovering, Elena."
His tone made my legs weak, and I grabbed the doorframe for support.
"If you're worried about him needing rest, I'll arrange a nurse for tonight," Dorian went on. "She'll watch him while you're working."
The proposal was appealing, but I didn't want to cave so easily. Then Tobias crossed my mind.
