Elena's POV
"What the hell?"
Terror flooded through me, but I forced my lungs to work.
I couldn't believe I'd fallen for this trap. I hated that my desperation had made me trust Marcus.
How could I have been so damn naive?
Fear shot through me, but I knew this wasn't the moment to fall apart. I needed to think clearly.
Marcus turned the lock behind him, his eyes glinting with something twisted. That sick smirk told me everything.
He was still completely unhinged.
He spun his loose belt around his finger, that predatory look dancing in his gaze. "Don't tell me you haven't missed me, El?"
I turned my head away, bile rising in my throat. "Move, Marcus," I said, keeping my voice steady.
"Oh, come on," Marcus laughed, fumbling with his zipper. "I've been thinking about you, Elena."
I raised my chin, hiding my terror. "Get the fuck away from the door, Marcus."
Instead of backing off, he moved closer, reaching out to pull me against him. I yanked away, my pulse racing.
