Chapter 51 - Chapter 50: The Moon Clan

After leaving the Cathedral, the woman immediately rushed to the Barracks, leading nearly a thousand Fallen Rogues under her command as they moved in a grand procession toward the Underground Passage.

"Rakanishu, you are the fastest. Go keep an eye on her. I want to see what those two sisters are actually up to." Andariel leaned back against her chair, her face once again hidden within the shadows.

"The Queen is wise; your servant shall go at once." Rakanishu had always been like this, never trying to second-guess Andariel's thoughts. As long as he didn't cross the Queen and ran fast enough, death could never catch him; eventually, he had become the number one idol of the Carver kind.

Rakanishu stood up, piously bowed to Andariel, and hurriedly left the Cathedral. The Carver army's mobilization and movement were too slow, so he left them to follow slowly behind while he took the personal guards waiting outside, quietly tailing Coldcrow.

In the Stony Field, Leo's group had occupied—or rather, "picked up" for free—a temporary camp. The interior of the camp was very clean, and from the site selection to the construction, it bore the style of the Rogues; it seemed it had been built by the Fallen Rogues. Thanks to these traitors, the group had rested very well last night.

Leo had finished his morning exercise and walked over to Gerdie, who was preparing breakfast, to exchange a few quiet words.

After the previous incident, he felt Majesty was acting a bit unusual. As a fellow female, Gerdie was older, more experienced, and possessed powerful mental strength. He asked her to keep an eye on and take care of Majesty—to see if it was just female-specific physical discomfort or if something had truly happened.

Smelling the food, a bleary-eyed Max crawled out of his tent: "Sister Gerdie, your cooking is too good. If the Boss could marry you, he'd be a lucky man."

Max seemed to have completely integrated into the squad and got along well with everyone. It was only when facing the women who enjoyed using violence that he appeared somewhat humble.

"Ow, it hurts! Which blind fool is messing with my butt?" Max straightened his arms and stuck out his rear, dropping into a steady horse stance. He endured the sharp pain coming from his backside as if his buttocks had been molested, his voice carrying a hint of a sob.

Thales withdrew the Guided Arrow she had buried in Max's upturned rear and said nonchalantly, "Leo should marry me instead. Although I promised not to force him before we kill the Prime Evils, once it's done, he has to come back with me to have children."

Confirmed by a look: a woman not to be trifled with. Glancing at the snickering Shika—one had violence, the other had bad intentions. Can't provoke them, can't provoke them. Leo silently carried two bowls of Gerdie's "enhanced" breakfast and smoothly walked over to the campfire, handing one bowl to Majesty.

Majesty felt her spirit was somewhat low; last night she had been unable to concentrate on meditating and practicing, wasting a whole night of cultivation time. She was in no mood to bicker with Max, so she whispered her thanks, took the breakfast, and sat as far away from him as possible.

Shika, who always prioritized Thales, ladled out two bowls and sat down next to Thales with a beaming smile, handing one over expectantly. Thales nodded in thanks and took the thick soup from her.

The remaining members stepped forward in turn. Buckle waited considerately until the end to walk over, and the group began their meal pleasantly.

Leo was gratified to see this; the squad was truly harmonious—at least, they were harmonious for the duration before the three Prime Evils were slain.

Looking at his mini-map, half of the Stony Field was already lit up. Having a Raven in the squad was so convenient; everywhere it flew counted as his own personal exploration. In one more day at most, they could finish scouting this area.

The group's luck was decent; while exploring the middle section of the Stony Field, they discovered the entrance to the Underground Passage. However, it was currently guarded by about a hundred members of the Moon Clan.

The Moon Clan had goat heads and human bodies, with brownish-yellow fur and knotted muscles. They held various destructive two-handed weapons, and their lower legs were back-jointed, their iron hooves irritably pawing at the grass on the ground.

These demons appeared to possess some low-level intelligence; they had established a crude defensive line around the cave entrance, surrounding it with sparse wooden fences. Judging by how thin the fences were, while a horse couldn't run through, humanoid beings could move in and out with no problem.

Giving a "thumbs up" to his opponents' IQ, the group stood far off on a giant boulder. Thales directly drew her longbow to full draw, a raging flame igniting on the arrowhead. After aiming, she let go; the fire arrow streaked across the sky like a meteor and slammed into the fence gate. The fire acted as if oil had been poured on it, instantly erupting into a roaring blaze.

Leo recognized it at a glance; it was likely the Level 24 skill Immolation Arrow, which could deal continuous fire damage to a target—the ultimate skill of the Amazon's fire-arrow tree.

The Moon Clan members resting in place emitted furious "baaa" sounds, picking up their weapons and charging toward the direction the fire arrow had come from.

Leo and the others prepared themselves, waiting quietly for them to arrive.

Thales had the longest range and was the first to attack. With a flick of her hand and the crisp hum of a bowstring, a fan-shaped rain of arrows flew out; the goat-men charging up were all turned into pin-cushions.

Shika's attack distance was similar, but unfortunately, she hadn't learned any large-scale area-of-effect skills; she could only pick them off one by one. Fortunately, the damage of a single arrow was much higher than that of Multiple Shot, and with some skill-based arrows mixed in, she still managed to shoot down quite a few of the charging monsters.

Soon, the "prickly" goat-men entered the range of the traps. Continuous lightning surged into the dense enemy formation. The air filled with the gamy smell of roasted mutton as Moon Clan members were constantly turned into "whole roasted lambs."

Buckle also began summoning Tornados. He wasn't sure if the wind elements were particularly lively, but these tornados traced erratic arcs, wobbling toward the Moon Clan.

It was evident that this taciturn man was trying very hard; beads of sweat had broken out across his forehead. Yet the movement of these "little rascals" remained fickle, shifting east and west. Sometimes it looked like they were about to hit an enemy, only to twist their "waists" for a perfect dodge; other times it looked like they would miss, only to slam squarely into an enemy, tearing them to shreds.

Inceyste had already demonstrated one of a Sorceress's correct casting methods: teleporting into the mob for consecutive backstabs, the monster dying, then teleporting back.

Seeing Buckle's "incorrect" casting method, Leo muttered to himself whether he should teach the other mage "Correct Process Part 2": How to be a qualified Wind Druid Master.

Seeing that they were about to engage the monsters in melee, Leo remained standing on the rock, maintaining the Meditation aura to recover mana. He was already suffering from an incurable "lazy cancer"; tasks that were all work and no play were better left to the hardworking Skeleton Warriors.

A Captain's more important mission was to oversee the overall situation, provide mana security for the teammates' firepower, and support teammates in danger at any time. How could he charge ahead like a common brawler?

"You ugly freaks, come over here quickly and let Big Brother give you a red buff!" Max, a young man who accepted new things quickly, applied Amplify Damage to the Moon Clan while showing off a new term he had just learned from Leo.

The Moon Clan had never encountered such a formation. Usually, when they fought in the Stony Field, everyone swarmed together; they had never met such a shameless enemy before.

Soon, the Moon Clan all fell before the Skeletons' defensive line. Leo sat down on the rock and commanded his two "generals" and Gerdie to clean up the battlefield.

That's why everyone loves having subordinates. Having subordinates do the work while you sit back, eat, and count gold coins—such a life was truly wonderful.

Seeing that the battlefield was mostly cleared, Leo tallied the spoils. He felt the monster drops were getting worse and worse; he wondered if it was because they had destroyed three altars in a row, causing the Hellish aura to be purified and thinned out.

Not a single Rare item—just "blue skies and white clouds" (magic and normal items). He stuffed all this junk into his inventory and stepped closer to observe the condition of the Underground Passage.
