Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: The Correct Way to Enhance Strength

Inside the tent, Leo opened his Charm Space; his attributes had grown quite a bit during this period.

* Damage: 8-20

* Lightning Damage: 1-15

* Poison Damage: +12, duration 3 seconds

* Attack Rating: +100, +5%

* Defense: 230

* Fire Resistance: +14%

* Cold Resistance: +11%

* Lightning Resistance: +15%

* Poison Resistance: +13%

* Strength: +8

* Dexterity: +5

* Crushing Blow: +20%

* Open Wounds: +50%

* Light Radius: +5%

Leo first picked out a weapon that added cold damage and tossed it in.

> Snowy Short Sword: Adds 7-28 cold damage, duration 1 second.

>

Next, he selected a weapon that added fire damage and threw it in as well.

> Flaming Mace: Adds 24-58 fire damage.

>

{Analysis target identified. Spend gold equal to target level multiplied by 100 to accelerate analysis?}

He poured in the gold and selected confirm; the short sword he had just tossed in completed its analysis instantly.

He found two more weapons:

> Static Dagger: Adds 1-110 lightning damage.

> Corrosive Club: Adds 80 poison damage, duration 4 seconds.

>

After setting up the elemental damage, Leo turned his focus to equipment that increased character attributes.

> Necklace of Illusion: +15 Energy.

> Ring of the Dragon: +38 Mana.

> Mammoth Hard Leather Armor: +39 Life.

>

With the character attributes set, only three Magic items remained, and his gold was nearly depleted.

> Phantom Skull Cap: Increases Attack Rating based on character level, 1% per level.

> Holy Scepter: +250 Attack Rating against Undead, +200% Damage against Undead.

> Supernatural Long Sword: +150 Attack Rating against Demons, +100% Damage against Demons.

>

Looking at his gold, which was reaching the bottom, he gritted his teeth and chose to accelerate. He placed the Set belt inside; by the time he woke up, the analysis should be complete.

Looking at the Charm Space—with its skyrocketing attributes and severely shrunken gold pile—he realized that "pay-to-win" was indeed the fastest way to increase strength.

The Charm Space now added a massive amount of elemental damage. Conveniently, the Vengeance skill also significantly increased elemental damage; they complemented each other perfectly. He opened his skill tree and learned Vengeance.

> Vengeance: Level 18 skill. Adds elemental damage of Fire, Cold, and Lightning to every successful attack. Cold duration: 1.2 seconds. Fire damage +80%, Cold damage +80%, Lightning damage +80%. Attack Rating +20%. Mana cost: 4. Prerequisite: Zeal. Every level of the three resistances increases elemental damage by 10%; Salvation +2% elemental damage.

>

After adding Vengeance, he thought about the battles of the past two days. The enemies were numerous, so it was time to level up his area-of-effect skills. He leveled up three times and put points into Zeal, bringing it to Level 4. Now, a single Zeal could attack five times; killing these cannon fodders would be much simpler in the future.

Seeing his combat power surge once again, he could finally rest easy.

Before dawn, Leo was woken up by the notification from the Charm Space. Walking out of the tent, he found Majesty meditating again. He was a bit puzzled; he had gone to rest very late last night and heard Gerdie return late, but he hadn't heard the sound of Majesty returning to the tent to rest.

He gave himself a mental reminder: the most urgent matter now was defeating Blood Raven and returning the Soulstone. To delay was to invite trouble. He called the two women and rushed toward the barracks.

At the newly built gate of the barracks, Hana and Diana were chatting.

Seeing Leo's group approach, Hana happily waved her right hand in greeting. "Lord Leo, you really did come to the barracks to use the Waypoint today! Diana's guess last night came true. Lord Leo, we've been waiting for half an hour; you're so slow. Ouch, Diana, what are you doing?"

Leo couldn't help but glance at Diana; she was hiding her fist behind her back, her head lowered. "Lord Leo, let us lead the way for you. You've become the great heroes of the Encampment now, especially that scene where you threw yourself to block the fireball—the sisters are all incredibly admiring."

Leo was delighted. It seemed he had gained countless fans, all of whom were young beauties. Next time he returned, he would definitely have to try striking up a conversation at the campfire dance.

After entering the barracks, they headed northeast into a heavily guarded room. A square magic circle was carved into the floor, with a central circle and two diagonals as the main axes.

The circle was divided evenly into four sections. Four Perfect Gems of the same color were embedded in the four quadrants, and the empty spaces were filled with mysterious symbols. At the points where the outer circle intersected the diagonals, four piles of pale-white magical flames were burning.

The female nun managing the magic circle bowed slightly as Leo's group entered. "Lord Leo, the small-scale magic circle can currently only teleport to the Cold Plains outpost. The cost is 1,000 gold per person."

Leo directly transferred 3,000 gold to the lady and stepped into the magic circle. The familiar white light flashed.

It felt very stable—the stability of a "private jet" was indeed much better. Soon, the group appeared at the outpost.

Leo looked around. The outpost was not far from the Cold Plains, allowing for a clear observation of the movements below. It was situated on a cliff at the narrow part of the valley, with an estimated drop of over fifty meters. The path below had been filled with countless boulders; anyone wanting to pass had to take the newly carved winding mountain path or try to swim through the turbulent river.

Though the outpost was small, accommodating at most one or two hundred Rogues, Leo couldn't think of a way to take it down—aside from internal collapse or world-destroying magic.

After saying goodbye to the Rogues on duty, Leo carefully walked down the small path carved into the cliff. Descending the valley was easy, and the group soon entered the forest below. He opened the mini-map to confirm the direction and found that the Burial Grounds was indeed the building cluster they had spotted earlier.

With the direction clear, the group passed through the gaps in the forest, heading east. They didn't see a single Fallen along the way; he wondered if they were so frightened they had all fled.

However, while walking through the forest, they encountered several Brutes. Now that Leo's added elemental damage was explosive, these beasts were like helpless chicks; he hacked them all to death with a single strike each.

Passing straight through the forest, the terrain of the Cold Plains felt a bit like a flat-bottomed pan, surrounded by mountains. The higher ground was occupied by forest, while the middle was lower and mostly meadow.

Soon, they met new monsters on the prairie: a group of creatures wearing white leather armor and sexy long black boots, with curvaceous figures, holding long spears.

Without a word, Leo opened his app to identify the monsters.

[Dark Spearwoman, Level 36.]

He understood in his heart: these monsters were once Rogues who had lost themselves under the influence of Hell's power, becoming fallen demons. After their fall, they forgot their expertise in archery and instead picked up melee weapons, madly attacking anyone they identified as an enemy.

Drawing his weapon, Leo prepared to approach. The Spearmen had a wide detection range and spotted them after only a few steps, charging toward the group rapidly.

Seeing them so proactive, Leo didn't bother moving; he stood his ground and waited for them to come to him. Unexpectedly, upon closing in, they used the length advantage of their weapons to thrust directly.

Fortunately, Leo was quite skilled with his shield. He tilted it slightly to create an angle, causing the spear to slide right off. Seeing the opponent's guard wide open, Leo didn't hesitate; he stepped forward quickly, his short mace carrying the powerful elemental damage of Vengeance, and swung it directly onto the spearwoman's impressive chest.

A burst of crimson, icy blue, incandescent, and emerald light flashed. The spearwoman's "peaks" were hammered directly into a "valley." A large cloud of visible white vapor surged from the wounds on her body, and a groan of relief escaped her mouth.

Leo smacked his lips. Transcending one "child" with a single strike—aside from the sound being a bit unharmonious, everything else was great.

After testing the opponent's skill, he felt at ease. As expected, they were mentally incoherent; their attacks were disorganized and posed no threat.

He walked directly into the pack of Spearmen. Their weapons were too long; once he got close, their movements became clumsy instead. He activated Zeal, and after a few rounds, a circle of Spearmen lay dead around him.

Looking at these fallen Spearmen, Leo felt that a question he had wondered about for a long time could finally be answered today.
