DxD all remaining noble devil houses. In the High School DxD universe, after the Great War and subsequent conflicts, the devil society consists of many remaining noble houses.
The "remaining" houses generally refer to the clans that managed to survive the war and avoid extinction or dissolution.
The noble devil houses are categorized into two main groups: the 72 Pillars and the Extra Demons.
The 72 Pillars:
The 72 Pillars are a list of pure-blooded devil families, each historically possessing significant power and armies. After the Great War, many faced extinction, with approximately 32 clans remaining active, though some have lost status due to mixed heritage.
Prominent remaining or active houses of the 72 Pillars mentioned in the series include:
Bael Clan: The highest-ranking clan, known for immense power (current heir is Sairaorg Bael).
Gremory Clan: A high-ranking clan, currently led by Zeoticus Gremory and famous for its former heir, Sirzechs Lucifer, and current heir, Rias Gremory.
Sitri Clan: A prominent clan whose current heiress is Sona Sitri.
Astaroth Clan: Known for its genius members, such as the current Satan, Ajuka Beelzebub (formerly Astaroth).
Phenex Clan: A noble house known for its members' regenerative abilities (e.g., Riser and Ravel Phenex).
Belial Clan: Known as the "Number One Talent" house, with the current head being Diehauser Belial.
Agares Clan: A high-ranking clan, current heiress is Seekvaira Agares.

Abaddon Clan: Notable members include Kuisha Abaddon and Bedeze Abaddon.
Belphegor Clan: Notable member Roygun Belphegor is the 2nd ranking champion in Rating Games.
Nebiros Clan: Another house that previously served the original Lucifer.

The following is the list of Devil clans under the 72 Pillars.
The full list of clans under the 72 Pillars and the list of those that became extinct was first mentioned in the Extra Life of Volume 8.
The number of families that still exist is 32 while the remaining 40 families are said to be extinct, but a few of the devils of these families/bloodlines are still alive, such as the 4 members of Sairaorg's peerage, who are from the extinct families of the 72 Pillars.
In addition to that, some clans are considered to be extinct despite having pure-blooded high class devils in them, such as Vepar with Lilitifa Vepar.
The 72 Pillars are named after the 72 Demons described in The Ars Goetia, one of the five books in The Lesser Key of Solomon (a demonological grimoire said to have been authored by King Solomon himself).
Berith's other name, "Balberith", is the name of a character in the series.
Apparently, the Pillars that are ranked higher are more traditional and old-fashioned, often looking down on low class and reincarnated devils.
Despite the House of Andrealphus having been listed as extinct in the Light Novel Volume 8, this house is considered to be active in the first lore article on the Ichiei Ishibumi's blog.
The Vepar household most likely lost their status due to economic bankruptcy.
According to the first lore article on the Ichiei Ishibumi's blog, this is an outdated hierarchy that is useless now because of the Rating Game. The places on this list are largely meaningless, but the 15 highest-ranked houses are clearly strong regardless.
