Chapter 2 - Pitch black

Flashback

He was running at full speed through that dark alley, his tears blurring his vision.

The cold was biting, and the rain was pouring down as if the sky were weeping for him...

weeping with him...

or perhaps comforting him...

until he finally reached the outside of that cursed castle.

Only then did he let out a scream so loud it nearly tore his vocal cords...

But where is justice in this world?

Rodolfo woke up with a panicked ... Damn it, another nightmare... His forehead was beaded with sweat , his heart pounding... Yes, despite the years that had passed, he remembered everything as if it had happened yesterday.

He cursed under his breath and got out of bed.

He took a cold shower, as usual, trying to banish that wretched memory from his mind..He had changed..Yes, he had changed... He was no longer that weak little boy.

He was Rodolfo Larsen..

Just mentioning his name was enough to make the streets of Italy tremble from east to west.

Rodolfo Larsen, a senator in the Italian Mafia, was known for his coldness, arrogance, and lifeless eyes.

While he owned a chain of companies, hospitals, hotels, and everything that enhanced his influence in Italy-representing fifty percent of the country's economy-he was also incredibly greedy and intolerant of financial matters, regardless of the employee's position within his estate. This, of course, was the misfortune of the Malfredi family, who owed him a considerable sum of money.

Celia screamed , "Mom, Dad, please! I've already made my decision. Why don't you trust me? You always have!"

Michel said, "sweetie , it's not a matter of trust. You know you're the most precious thing we have, in fact, everything we have. I can never allow this risk... not you, my little one."

Lizzie was just crying silently

Celia said, "Mom, Dad, please understand me. I can't just stand by and do nothing while you're in debt because of me. I'm grown now; you can rely on me. Besides, you've always praised my good judgment. Just trust me, okay? It's only 10 months; it'll be over, and we'll get on with our lives happily ever after."

Michelle and Willis sighed as they were about to make the worst decision of their lives: send Celia to work for Larsen? Sending her to the very hell that was happening. They had never been comfortable with it, but she was right; there was no other way. Celia hugged her parents and went up to her room. She closed the door and allowed her hand to tremble after all that confinement. She looked in the mirror, talking to herself. "Yes, I'll do it. I'll free my family from this damned debt, and we'll live happily ever after." She was scared, yes, nervous, yes, but she certainly wouldn't let her parents see anything. The plan was that she would put her university studies on hold for a year, pay off the debt, and then go back to her studies. She was in her sixth year of medical school, and finally, she would graduate and become a doctor, but not before she paid off that damned debt. She sighed disdainfully and went to bed, where her thoughts lulled her into a deep sleep.

The weather was terrible; the rain was pouring down, and dark clouds blocked out the sun, preventing any rays from passing through. Rodolfo was in his office. He shut down the computer and signaled the end of the meeting. All the members and advisors left-the fake ones, of course. Behind those luxurious clothes and elegant suits, they were nothing but murderers and devils. Rodolfo said, "Sarah, send me Malfredi."
