Chapter 29 - Chapter 30 — Where the Flowers Land

The day was quiet.

That was intentional.

The venue was a garden courtyard near the sea—open sky, white flowers, water close enough to hear but not intrude. The air smelled faintly of salt and jasmine.

Kai Ying stood still as Xiao Lan adjusted her collar.

"You look calm," Xiao Lan said.

"I am," Kai Ying replied.

After a pause, she added, "If I stop being calm, remind me to breathe."

Xiao Lan nodded. "Le Xin said the same thing."

Kai Ying smiled faintly.

Across the courtyard, Le Xin was laughing softly as Tian Rong fussed over her hair.

"You look dangerous," Tian Rong said proudly. "Like you're about to steal a CEO's heart."

"I already did," Le Xin replied.

Tian Rong grinned. "True."

Then her expression softened.

"Hey," Tian Rong said quietly. "Thank you… for trusting me today."

Le Xin met her eyes. "You earned it."

The ceremony was simple.

No speeches too long. No dramatics.

When Le Xin walked down the aisle, Kai Ying forgot the world existed beyond her.

When Kai Ying reached for Le Xin's hands, her grip was steady—but her thumb trembled just slightly.

"I don't promise perfection," Kai Ying said. "I promise choice. Every day."

Le Xin smiled, eyes bright. "I promise to stay. Even when you overthink."

A ripple of quiet laughter.

They exchanged rings. The moment settled—not loud, not overwhelming.

Just right.

Later, as the sun dipped lower, it was time for the bouquet.

Tian Rong leaned against Xiao Lan, whispering, "You know I don't believe in traditions."

Xiao Lan replied calmly, "Yet you're very focused."

Le Xin turned to face the small crowd.

She didn't throw.

Instead, she walked.

Step by step, she crossed the space and stopped in front of Xiao Lan.

Xiao Lan froze.

Le Xin placed the bouquet gently into her hands.

Gasps. Smiles. Stillness.

Tian Rong's breath caught.

She stepped forward—not rushing, not joking.

"Xiao Lan," Tian Rong said, voice clear, uncharacteristically serious.

"I've been loud. Impulsive. Annoying."

Kai Ying murmured, "True," under her breath.

Le Xin elbowed her.

Tian Rong continued, eyes never leaving Xiao Lan.

"But I want to be yours—with permission. With patience. With choice."

She dropped to one knee.

"I don't want to steal a moment. I want to ask for it."

Silence.

Then Xiao Lan laughed—soft, overwhelmed, eyes shining.

"Yes," she said. "You idiot. Yes."

Applause broke like a wave.

Kai Ying exhaled. "Acceptable interruption."

Le Xin smiled. "Perfect timing."

— After the Noise

The honeymoon was quiet.

A small beach house. Bare feet. Mornings without alarms.

Kai Ying cooked badly. Le Xin teased her gently. They napped in the afternoon and walked at night, fingers intertwined.

One evening, Kai Ying watched Le Xin asleep beside her.

The fear—the old one—never fully disappeared.

But it no longer ruled her.

She reached out, grounding herself in warmth, in presence.

This was real.

This stayed.

Final Glimpse — Years Later

The apartment was brighter now. Bigger windows. More plants.

Xiao Lan corrected Tian Rong's paperwork at the dining table while Tian Rong complained loudly about being corrected.

Le Xin laughed from the kitchen.

Kai Ying watched them all, glasses perched low on her nose, sleeves rolled up.

She wasn't cold anymore.

She was certain.

And when Le Xin caught her staring—

"What?" Le Xin asked.

Kai Ying answered honestly.

"This life," she said. "I choose it."

Every day.
