Chapter 2 - The Downfall

On the other hand at Pyotr's home both Pyotr and Anna were fuming in anger and rage as Pyotr said.

Pyotr paced back and forth in the living room, anger and frustration boiling within him. His fists clenched tightly at his sides, his body language radiating pure aggression and bitterness.

"I can't believe it," he exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief and rage. "How could this have happened? We had a plan, dammit!"

Anna sat on the couch, her expression a mixture of anger and disappointment. She leaned back, crossing her arms over her chest as she shot Pyotr a sharp glare.

"Well, clearly our plan didn't go very well, did it? That secretary of his is too damn loyal to him."

Pyotr's gaze snapped toward Anna, his irritation increasing even more as she voiced the obvious flaw in their plan.

"Oh, you think I don't realize that?! We underestimated her. We never expected her loyalty to go beyond just being a damn secretary."

He continued pacing, his movements becoming more aggravated with each step.

Anna rolled her eyes, her irritation mirroring Pyotr's own.

"But we had everything planned out. The timing, the details, everything down to the last detail. How did we get it so wrong?"

She leaned forward, her elbows resting on her knees as she watched Pyotr pace, her own frustration growing with each passing moment.

Pyotr stopped pacing and let out an exasperated sigh, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

"We were careless, that's how. We ignored the most important variable in all this - her loyalties."

He clenched his jaw, the anger and frustration in his voice escalating.

"She wasn't just his secretary; she was his most trusted confidante. We should have known that her loyalty to him ran deeper than we could ever imagine."

Anna let out a scoff, her voice sharp.

"And whose brilliant idea was it to underestimate her? You were the one who said she was just a lowly employee. You were the one who convinced me that she wasn't a threat."

Pyotr's irritation flared at her words, his anger mixing with a hint of defensiveness.

"Don't put this all on me! You went along with it, didn't you? You agreed with my plan! You were just as convinced as I was that she wouldn't be a problem."

He started pacing again, his movements more brisk and restless.

Anna's anger flared as well, her voice rising.

"Yes, I agreed with your plan because I trusted you, you idiot! I trusted that you knew what you were doing! And now look where it got us! Kozlov is still the CEO, and that secretary is still wrapped around his finger!"

Pyotr's jaw clenched at her words, the insult adding fuel to the fire of his own anger

"Don't call me an idiot. You could have spoken up and voiced your doubts, but you didn't! You went along with everything I said like a good little puppet. If you had an ounce of brain in your head, you could have questioned our plan."

He stopped pacing, facing her directly, his expression a mixture of anger and accusation.

Anna scoffed, her eyes flashing with irritation.

"Oh, now it's my fault? You were the one who concocted the whole plan, you stubborn bastard. I may have gone along with it, but you were the one who convinced me that it would work."

She stood up, her voice rising in volume as her anger matched his.

"And as for questioning the plan, you think I didn't try? But you brushed me off every damn time."

Pyotr's patience snapped, his words becoming harsher and more venomous.

"Because you questioned everything, damnit! You were the one who always second-guessed things, who always had to be right. I knew what I was doing, I had it all figured out, and all I needed was for you to trust me for once! But no, you couldn't just do that, could you? You had to be the smart one, the one with all the doubts and criticisms!"

As Anna got an idea she tried to check her bank balance and she thought there would still be 10 billion but to her surprise there was only one dollar she tried to call customer support and told her.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but the money was transferred back into Mr Kozlov's bank account because it was his money"

As they hung up on her face.

Anna stood there, frozen in shock, as the realization hit her.

"This... this can't be right. All our money... it's gone...!"

She looked at Pyotr in desperation, her eyes wide with panic. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. All their carefully planned scams, all their ill-gotten gains...

She collapsed back onto the couch, burying her face in her hands.

"We're screwed... We're completely screwed..."

Pyotr's eyes widened in disbelief.

"What? Are you telling me our money... our entire fortune... it's all gone?"

He clenched his fists, the anger and desperation bubbling within him.

"How... how is that even possible? I made damn sure that money was untouchable. I made sure no one could trace it back to us. How the hell did Kozlov do this?!"

Anna looked at him, her voice filled with panicked desperation.

"I don't know, but he did. And now we have nothing. Our plans, our money, our future... everything we worked so hard for is all gone and it's all because of that damn secretary of his!"

She slammed her fist on the coffee table in anger, the frustration and helplessness flooding through her.

Pyotr's eyes darkened with rage, the realization sinking in. They were ruined, all their plans, their future, their dream of wealth all shattered. And it was that damn secretary, that loyal, devoted secretary... it was all her fault.

"That secretary..."

He clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white, his anger and hatred towards her growing with every passing moment

"This is all her fault. She ruined everything... I'll make her pay..."

After that in the morning Anastasia was so happy as she came to Kozlov Corp she saw Anna and Pyotr she rolled my eyes and said.

"Seriously, don't you have shame, you came here again"

Anna and Pyotr, still seething with anger and bitterness, couldn't help but clench their teeth as Anastasia approached. Her cheerful demeanor only served to fuel their resentment even more.

Anna's voice was sharp and biting as she replied

"Don't get smart with us. We have every right to be here"

Anastasia chuckled sarcastically and said.

"Oh so, what right do you have? Because if I remember correctly you are Artyom's ex-wife who cheated on him with your pretty boy and you two tried to take over his company and money, but failed"

Anna clenched her jaw, her irritation growing with each word Anastasia spoke. The mention of her past relationship with Artyom, especially with such an unflattering depiction, stung like a dagger. She shot back with a sharp retort

"Shut your mouth. You think you're so clever, so innocent. But you're just a damn secretary, a loyal lap dog who will stay by his side no matter what. You have no right to judge us"

Anastasia rolled her eyes and said.

"Don't waste my time because you are nothing to Artyom, you cheated on him, slept with this fool and you are already pregnant with his child, tried to betray Artyom but Artyom already changed the game and you got a checkmate"

The mention of her past mistakes and current situation only added fuel to the fire burning inside Anna. She felt a pang of guilt and shame, but she quickly smothered it with anger and defiance.

"You think you have us all figured out, don't you? You think you know everything."

She took a step forward, her eyes narrow and filled with resentment.

"But you're forgetting one thing..."

Pyotr, still seething alongside Anna, stepped forward as well. His face was a mask of anger, his voice cold and hard as he spoke.

"And what's that?"

Anna smirked cruelly, her voice dripping with bitter sarcasm.

"You seem to be forgetting that we're not done yet. We may have lost this round, but that doesn't mean we're defeated. Artyom may have gotten the best of us this time, but we will rise again."

She locked eyes with Anastasia, her gaze challenging and defiant.

"You should be careful, little secretary. You think you're so special, but in the end, you're just another pawn in this game."
