Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Mechanical Exoskeleton Alien Creatures (Resident Evil)

Autumn in western Europe is often shrouded in gloom, with chilly winds and constant drizzle, which leads to damp and muddy soil.

And at this moment....

Tap tap tap!

Boom! Boom!

Gunfire and artillery fire echoed throughout the city, and violent explosions sent dirt and rubble flying everywhere.

"Soldiers! Keep firing the alien beasts, they are retreating!"

"Hahaha! We actually won?!"

"Its too early for victory, these beasts might be planning something! We must stay vigilant soldiers!"

"Follow our full-metal bitch!!"

At the same time, battle cries, signifying victory, erupted from the battlefield.

An aerial view,

On a main road, soldiers dressed in black combat uniforms and wearing mechanical exoskeletons were slowly advancing westward, toward the city center, relying on the visual and shooting assistance provided by their individual equipment.

The buildings on both sides of the main road were riddled with holes, some of them collapsed into ruins, and there were almost no intact corpses on the road. Limbs, torsos, and even internal organs and intestines torn off by brute force and sharp blades were everywhere.

Even if we win, it will be a Pyrrhic victory.

Amidst the devastation, a sign bearing the inscription 'Cathédrale de Verdun 3 kilomètres' reveals that this war ravaged city is Verdun, located in northeastern France.

As for the retreating "enemy"...

hiss!!

But it emitted a sharp, piercing roar.

They move swiftly, seemingly rolling over, but in reality, numerous tentacles are taking turns gripping the ground, and their heads resemble fish with their mouths open, begging for food.

However, the gaps between their mouths, eyes, and tentacles still emit a distinct orange glow, indicating that they possess some kind of core organ.

Faced with incoming bullets, these creatures either try to dodge by moving nimbly or use their tentacles to form a makeshift 'bone shield' to try and withstand the attack.

Smack! Smack!

When bullets hit their bodies or bone shields, they don't spurt blood and flesh; instead, they shatter and explode.

When a bullet penetrates and ruptures the core organs hidden inside their bodies, they will struggle violently for a while, but will soon become completely stiff and die.

Based on these characteristics of the enemy, they are more like living weapons than living beings.

The "enemy" was in complete retreat, and the human soldiers pursued them relentlessly, seemingly sealing the fate of the battle.

As the viewpoint gradually rises to a height of thousands of meters, the image becomes somewhat "blurry." Gradually, it becomes apparent that the image is composed of neatly arranged, yet extremely tiny, glowing cubes.

Only when you get further away can you tell that it's a display screen.

The screen continued to play the battle that had broken out in Verdun, and the upper left corner displayed "Falcon-1" and information such as "1993/06/05/17:42"

[Keep away from...]

[keep away...]

Inside a simple tent, three Atlas mercenaries could be seen sitting behind control panels of numerous monitors and various military instruments, observing, recording, or operating something.

Two hours earlier, an advance team equipped with fully enclosed and breathing gear began exploring the world beyond the first spatial door.

Next, the advance team built a wired base station to link the two worlds and solve the problem of real-time communication.

With communications secured, the advance team continued its deeper operations.

After some investigation, and based on the results obtained from deploying a large number of drones, it was determined that the other side of the 'gate' was also Earth. However, judging from the equipment of the human soldiers on that side, it was clear that the overall technology there was much more advanced than that of their "main" Earth.

The location behind the portal is an abandoned village 30 kilometers south of Verdun.

Shifting our attention away from the tent and looking around, we see that the once empty underground space is now filled with equipment boxes marked with a red "A".

Even though there are golden flames surrounding the stone pillars that seem to burn forever, providing light, Atlas still installed complete lighting and power generation equipment here, and even set up many tents and air-conditioned mobile homes to provide accommodation, scientific research and recreational activities for people.

It seems that Atlas intends to gradually develop this place into a permanent base.

At this moment.

Sui Yang, now dressed in a black combat uniform, was walking toward the first spatial gate, accompanied by several fully armed Atlas mercenaries, as well as Lieutenant Jack Krause and a group of American soldiers.

"Lieutenant Krauss" Sui Yang said as they walked "As I said before, what you know is all an illusion. There are no superheroes or supervillains. The vast majority of them are just a group of addicts who have been injected with a drug called Compound Five."

"You and your men are admirable warriors, and I happen to need outstanding talents like you to assist me, Atlas, and even humanity in dealing with threats like Vought."

"Of course, talking about ideals alone is a bit unrealistic. Rest assured, you will receive higher salaries and benefits, and your families will also benefit. I look forward to future cooperation."

In contrast, Jack Kraus and the rest of the American troops still seemed somewhat confused and bewildered

There's no way around it, anyone would start to question their existence if they were bombarded with a large amount of mind blowing information in a short period of time.

For example, the superheroes they admire and envy are actually selfish bastards who enjoy rape, drug use, and torture.

The ability to access other universes and worlds through spatial portals, and the ability to instantly transform from a military officer to a private mercenary, all nearly overloaded their brains.

Sui Yang valued these American soldiers, or rather Jack Krauser, because their appearance, resume, and age matched those of Major Krauser in Resident Evil 4 Remake, who became the boss of the level due to the betrayal of high-ranking American officials.

Sui Yang obtained the relevant information through his military connections, which led him to recruit the special operations platoon to his service and mobilize the entire platoon to obey his orders.

If sufficient benefits are offered, the US military leadership will naturally be happy to hand over personnel, especially since Atlas is one of their main partners.

Sui Yang was used to seeing characters from games and movies appear before him. Among the many orphans he adopted and planned to train as agents, spies, and investigators, there was a chinese and american descent girl who liked to wear red clothes.

(Yo? Is that Ada?)

The reason for recruiting Krauser and others is simple: in addition to carrying out combat missions, they also need to assist Atlas in training new recruits. Perhaps in the future, a blond guy with a parted hairstyle will become Krauser's trainee.

(Probably talking about Leon)

As for the situation on the other side of the portal, Sui Yang happened to be very familiar with it, the so called "enemy" was none other than alien creatures Mimics.

Based on the drone footage of human soldiers' equipment and the Battle of Verdun, the world on the other side of the door is most likely a movie version of "Edge of Tomorrow"

(Aww hell naww those time traveling motherfuckers?!)

--------------------------

Information for the mimics in edge of tomorrow

[The aliens in Edge of Tomorrow, known as Mimics, are a highly evolved, extraterrestrial hive mind species designed for interstellar colonization and total planetary conquest. They operate as a singular entity rather than individual creatures, with the ability to manipulate time to ensure victory.]
