Chapter 24 - "The Void Leaks: A Mercenary’s First Deployment."

The Ope-Ope Fruit user can create a spherical space. Within that space, they can freely cut, swap, and reassemble people and objects, even exchanging consciousness. Those who are cut do not die and suffer no injuries.

Using the Ope-Ope Fruit consumes the user's stamina. Its abilities count as special attacks and can affect Logia-type users.

ROOM: Slaughterhouse Creates a hemispherical space to swap objects. Within the controlled area, targets can be separated and reassembled. Separated individuals feel no pain, bleed no blood, and do not die.

ROOM: Command Creates a massive hemispherical space. With a single upward flick of the finger, the user can manipulate objects. Its power is immense, capable of lifting even giant warships along with the riverbed beneath them.

ROOM: Chaos SpaceCreates a hemispherical space, then pierces out the target's heart from a distance. By doing so, two people whose hearts are extracted can have their bodies and minds swapped.

ROOM: Scan Creates a hemispherical space and spatially transfers designated objects within it to another location.

Scalpel Remotely extracts an enemy's heart from within the space, tearing out surrounding muscle tissue along with it.

Those whose hearts are removed do not die, but they will collapse from temporary physical weakness. If intense force is applied to the cube containing the heart, the original owner will experience extreme pain and may even die.

Counter Shock The user flips and leaps in front of the opponent, releasing an electrically charged impact to the chest, dealing severe damage to the heart.

Gamma Knife Forms a blue, blade-like surgical knife from the palm and attacks the enemy's body. Without leaving external wounds, it directly severs internal organs and muscles, dealing massive damage.

This is especially effective against enemies with strong defenses.

"…This is seriously way stronger than I expected."

After carefully reading through the information, Sam couldn't help but sigh. "If this gets fully developed, it really feels like once I open ROOM, everything inside is under my control."

Time passed quietly. Many days had gone by since the ten-pull draw.

Exactly how many days, Sam wasn't sure. Time didn't feel very noticeable here, and he hadn't bothered watching the clock.

Elsa and Wu Liuqi dropped by the Trans-Dimensional Mercenary Guild now and then, but Feng Baobao and Kurama hadn't shown their faces even once recently.

"This won't do," Sam muttered while standing in the open area. "Without opponents, my abilities can't improve much. Forget sparring practice."

It wasn't about avoiding damage to the guild or anything like that. Without real practice, neither ability development nor control would improve.

He'd been troubled by this for a while.

"Wait. I can go to other worlds, can't I?"

His eyes lit up.

Damn it, how did I forget something this important?

"Ding. A Trans-Dimensional Mercenary Mission has been issued. Interested members, please register as soon as possible."

"???"

What's this supposed to mean, Robin?

I was just thinking about leaving to practice, and you drop this on me?

Did you hear my thoughts and trigger a mission on purpose?

Complaints aside, Sam still read through the mission details.

Trans-Dimensional Mercenary Mission

Mission World: Douluo World (Parallel World)

Mission Details: A void creature drifting outside the planes has breached the planar barrier of the Douluo World, creating a hundred-meter-long spatial rift in a parallel world.

Void energy leaking from the rift has contaminated nearby soul beasts, mutating them into aberrant creatures. Eliminate all aberrant beasts and close the spatial rift.

Mission Rewards: 30,000 Dimensional Coins (distributed based on contribution)One lottery draw (prizes limited to items from the worlds of current members)

"Holy crap," Sam muttered. "So this is what a Trans-Dimensional Mercenary Guild mission looks like?"

Sam's mouth twitched involuntarily. "Son of a... Void creatures? What is this, League of Legends?"

"And a parallel world? The Douluo world is famous for being the 'basement' of fantasy power scaling! Won't a parallel version just be more of the same?"

"The Void creatures here are on a completely different level than the ones in League of Legends," Robin clarified. "Please don't confuse the two."

"Furthermore, the parallel world currently being invaded isn't that same low-tier fantasy world ruled by that double-standard Godking. It's a high-level cultivation world."

"???"

It's not the 'basement' fantasy world ruled by the Double-Standard Godking?

Does that mean it's more like a high-powered fan-fiction universe?

It made sense. Both before and after the original protagonist's reputation hit rock bottom, there were countless Douluo fanfics. It followed that there would be plenty of parallel worlds too.

Thinking of this, Sam's expression suddenly shifted. "Whoa, based on what you're saying, isn't this place incredibly dangerous?"

"I mean, the Void creatures in League of Legends are already broken as hell," Sam continued. "And you're telling me the ones in the Douluo plane are on a completely different level? Are you just sending me to my death?"

Something like Cho'Gath would crush him on size alone!

Robin went silent.

For heaven's sake... do you think everything you get from the gacha is trash? Death? Death, my foot!

"The true Void creatures have been sealed outside the world," Robin explained. "The only one that managed to slip in is currently being handled by the Divine Realm. If it weren't for that, the gods would have already cleaned up this mess. Why else would they issue a mercenary mission?"

"So you're saying the Void creature is currently getting jumped by the Divine Realm?"

"Exactly! So, while you're executing this mission, you won't actually have to face a Void creature directly."

"Besides, you can call on the members to go with you. Nobody's telling you to do this solo..."

"However," Robin added, "I suggest the members focus on handling the mutated soul beasts. Whatever you do, do not go near the spatial rifts."

Sam let out a silent, weary sigh.

This Guild Master is way too timid. Even if it was a high-level parallel world, with the abilities Sam had, he could basically slaughter his way through anything in his path.
