After lunch, Rick caught up with Shawn, and the two briefly discussed the future plans for the Prison.
Rick also largely agreed with Shane's idea of fortifying the Prison into a steel fortress.
This was a massive undertaking, but at least after clearing the Walkers from the interior, they should start taking action.
Shawn was in complete agreement with them, and the three of them gathered, discussing enthusiastically for two hours, like old friends playing 'hero role-playing' games when they were kids.
At three in the afternoon, the sun's angle had passed its highest point and was slowly shifting.
Shawn was too energetic to sleep, so he started jogging around the grass field.
After nearly an hour, under the direct sunlight, Shawn was already drenched in sweat.
He returned to the Administrative Building midway to rest for a moment, then went back to jogging on the grass field.
This trip to the Prison made Shawn realize his fatal weakness.
He couldn't solely rely on the system and single-attribute strength; Shawn needed to develop in multiple areas.
Although self-training wouldn't have various special effects like the passive skills on the skill panel, it could keep Shawn's limbs coordinated and improve his body's endurance before he gained attribute points from other Sequences.
Besides this, Shawn should better coordinate his own weight with the team, truly integrate into the team, and accept the team's support.
Just as he said earlier, Shawn needed progress and development in more aspects.
Only then could he face more diverse challenges in the future.
"997…"
"998…"
"999…"
"1000…"
"Hoo—"
Shawn supported himself with his hands and stood up, panting heavily.
"This shouldn't count as being weak, right?"
After asking, Shawn shook his head to himself.
"No, it definitely isn't!"
"Who would be weak and still be able to do 1000 push-ups continuously after running for two hours?"
Shawn adamantly refused to believe it, muttering incessantly.
When he dragged his slightly weary body back to the Administrative Building, Carol, Lori, Andrea, and others were gathered together.
They held unified Prison iron cups, which contained black tea imported from the Empire.
Shawn was familiar with this black tea; it was from the Deputy Warden's office on the third floor.
At the time, Shawn disliked the taste of the Empire's tea, so he didn't take it with him.
"What are you all doing?" Shawn asked, somewhat puzzled.
Everyone present was a woman, and on the table in front of them were some small cakes Shawn had brought back earlier.
"A small tea party to celebrate our imminent capture of the Prison," Beth said softly, her demeanor as she spoke resembling a small fairy dancing gracefully.
"Do you want to join?"
Shawn waved his hands repeatedly upon hearing this.
"You can let me fight Walkers, but I'm not used to this kind of occasion."
Shawn was a rough man who slaughtered pigs; how could he enjoy such a refined gathering?
Leaving that remark, Shawn quickly ran to the third floor of the Administrative Building.
Lying on the black leather sofa, Shawn let out a long sigh of relief, finally feeling alive again.
The slight soreness in his muscles made Shawn feel that he was still alive.
He looked at the pure white ceiling and suddenly thought, 'Add points.'
The skill panel abruptly appeared before him.
Shawn's current attribute points:
Strength Sequence: Basic Strength Lv10, Skull Crusher Lv4, Exterior Strength Internal Activity Lv1, Shotgun Lv1.
Fortitude Sequence: Pain Tolerance Lv1, Healing Factor Lv1, Aerobic Training 1- Lv1.
He had 4 skill points available for use.
"Perception and Strength Sequences were unlocked from the start, but I haven't added any points to them yet…"
Shawn scrolled through the first Perception Sequence and finally looked at the last one.
"Scavenging Operation—No Waste! Using a wrench, ratchet, or impact driver allows you to recover more resources and materials."
Coincidentally, the magazine for crafting wrenches was already Lv5, allowing him to craft wrenches of at least 'Quality 1'.
Later, when planning and building the Prison, it would likely require massive amounts of materials.
Adding this wouldn't be a loss.
Thinking this, Shawn leveled 'Scavenging Operation' to Level 1.
"(Scavenger) Level 1/5, who knows what else you'll find inside when you dismantle what you find?"
Scavenging Operation Level 1/5
Then he re-examined the Strength Sequence and the later unlocked Fortitude Sequence.
"Mining skills can wait; the Prison hasn't been fully cleared yet. When the time comes, I can add upgrade points to it."
"Or… let's just leave it like this for now."
Shawn muttered, casually spending the last 3 skill points.
"(Mild Climate Tolerance) Level 1/3, utilize your clothing and self-resistance to withstand harsher survival environments."
"Gains insulation and cold resistance, reducing consumption during extreme cold or heat."
"Your genes are simply too perfect; you no longer need to carry an air conditioner with you."
Perfect Insulation Level 1/3
…
"(Skeletal Frame) Level 1/10, this attribute reflects your physical resistance, slightly increased."
"Although still a bit weak, your physique has improved."
Fortitude Sequence Basic Attribute Level 1/10
…
"(Chronic Frailty) Level 2/10, this attribute reflects your physical resistance, slightly increased."
"Although the headshot probability won't increase again, at least you feel much better, right?"
"Physical Resistance: You could say you're more resistant to beatings, but who isn't? Other Walkers don't even feel pain."
Fortitude Sequence Basic Attribute Level 2/10
As the points were embedded into the skill panel, Shawn immediately felt a peculiar sensation.
His body began to feel warm, and his physical sensation became mild.
Unlike the previous heat and irritation, Shawn was no longer even sweating.
His pores opened, as if a body-surface air conditioner had been installed.
And the effects of other skills seemed to be more than just what was described on the panel.
All of Shawn's muscle soreness vanished, and he propped himself up with his hands.
The movement between his muscles felt even more coordinated.
Whether it was Shawn's illusion or not, he felt his bones had become somewhat sturdier.
It wasn't a complete transformation, but his entire being had changed slightly in the blink of an eye.
Shawn clenched his fists tightly.
"This feeling is really good."
If he had to use one word to describe this feeling…
Shawn felt he was no longer 'frail'; his entire being was gradually being filled with 'strength'.
From the inside out.
With his hands clasped behind his head, Shawn lay back on the sofa, staring at the ceiling.
"The basic attributes of the Fortitude Sequence can be maxed out at 3 points, then I can consider saving some points."
"By Level 40, I should be able to unlock the 'Agility' Sequence."
"Saving points to put them all into the 'Agility' Sequence should allow my strength to achieve a qualitative leap in a short period."
"Even when facing a horde of Walkers, I won't be helpless; I'll have the power to fight."
"If I can't fight them head-on, I can kite them and take them down one by one."
"Even those special individuals might not pose a life threat to me."
"But the Camp here cannot be relaxed; we still need more people and more powerful firearms."
"Otherwise, it won't be enough to face stronger enemies; Walkers are not the only threat."
"But the good thing is that the timeline has advanced by half a year, so I have a lot of time to prepare."
"There's still so much to do… so much…"
Shawn's eyelids began to feel heavy.
The mild comfort after adding points made Shawn feel drowsy within just 30 seconds.
He slowly closed his eyes and slept soundly.
