But Shawn didn't know.
When he and Shane turned and left.
A figure stumbled out of the Administrative Building.
"Jim?"
"Hey, Man, are you alright?"
T-Dog looked at Jim, who was barely wearing a baseball cap beside him, and asked with some confusion.
At this moment, Jim's entire face was covered in a thick layer of sweat.
His original white complexion now looked even paler.
When T-Dog looked at him, he was half-bent over, his hands struggling to support himself on his knee joints, and slow, shallow breaths escaped his mouth.
"No… nothing, I just suddenly… feel a bit off."
Jim's thin shirt was already soaked with sweat.
But at this moment, he himself felt no heat at all; instead, a chilling cold permeated him from the inside out.
When Jim said this, the people in the Camp had already looked over.
But before they could even open their mouths to ask, Jim, as if Crazy, suddenly ran towards the lawn.
He came to the lawn, picked up the shovel Shawn had casually left there yesterday.
Right where Shawn had dug yesterday, he plunged the shovel down fiercely.
When he dug to nearly three meters deep, he finally discovered the pile of Walker corpses.
However, at this moment, Jim stared blankly at the corpses.
In the very center of the pile of corpses, it was empty, with enough space for a few more bodies.
At this point, Jim finally managed to catch his breath slightly.
He let out a sigh of relief, and his body unconsciously fell backward.
Through his blurry vision, he saw Rick leading people beginning to approach him.
"Something's wrong… something's wrong…"
...
Inside the Prison, C Block.
Upon entering through the back door, the darkness here seemed to swallow everything.
Until the iron door completely closed, it seemed as if even the last ray of sunlight was consumed.
Shawn was in front, Shane behind.
The two walked unhurriedly, both able to hear each other's faint breathing in the not-so-wide passage.
They walked very carefully, even needing to look clearly at their footing before continuing forward.
But in reality, in Shawn's eyes, this passage was no different from daytime.
He silently chanted 'Turn on the light'.
Immediately, the 'headlamp module' embedded in his helmet suddenly illuminated a large area in front of him, visible only to himself.
The effective range of the headlamp was not too far, basically, things beyond 10 meters were unclear.
But for the Prison's passages, it was just enough.
"Shane, you take the map first."
Shawn turned around and handed the hand-drawn map in his hand to Shane.
As for himself, he only needed to open the 'map' and roughly determine a direction based on memory within the gray fog that enveloped the area.
When Shawn placed a small red flag on the 'map'.
A small flag icon immediately appeared in front of him as well.
It pointed through the wall, indicating the final destination.
"With the 'map' in hand, I shouldn't get lost."
"But I'm not entirely sure about the number of Walker hordes and their exact locations inside the Prison; I hope nothing goes wrong along the way."
Shawn thought silently.
However, thankfully, Shawn and Shane entered the Prison through the C Block back door.
They passed through a winding corridor, going past the shower room and public restroom along the way, and only encountered 1 Walker in total.
Other than that, the rest were all scattered corpses.
There were Prison guards, and there were prisoners.
There were human bodies, and there were Walker bodies with bullet holes through their heads.
It wasn't until the two arrived safely in the C Block cell block that Shawn began to understand.
"So that's how it is…"
Shawn rubbed his chin.
"What?" Shane poked a corpse with his gun barrel, and after making sure it really wouldn't move, he turned to look at Shawn.
"Didn't you notice? We haven't encountered many Walkers along the way; most of them were just corpses."
"Logically speaking, an entire cell block holding prisoners, even if it's just one area, couldn't possibly have only this many corpses."
"So I guess the prisoners in the Prison were transferred, and everything just happened at that time."
"You said that the Prison would ensure prisoners did most things within the Prison, without contact with the outside world."
"Then could it be that, in fact, most of the original prisoners in C Block are those locked in the iron fence outside?"
Hearing Shawn say this, Shane suddenly remembered the door that Glenn had locked.
He hadn't counted exactly how many Walkers were inside.
But just by roughly estimating from memory, there wouldn't be fewer than a hundred Walkers wandering inside.
But Shane quickly reacted.
"No, such a large Prison, one area couldn't possibly have only a hundred people."
"Unless…"
Shane's eyes flickered, and he met Shawn's gaze.
Just by looking at their eyes, it was clear that Shawn thought the same as him.
"Exactly, unless the Prison was divided into multiple small outdoor recreation areas, allowing prisoners of different criminal natures to have their recreation separately."
"But if the remaining prisoners in C Block weren't in the recreation area, then perhaps when everything happened, they were all jammed in the Prison's passages, and that's why they couldn't escape and were all infected."
"The vast Prison ultimately became a 'dead city'."
As Shawn spoke, he bent down and fumbled for a set of keys on the body of a Prison guard.
"But it seems there's also good news; our luck isn't too bad."
Shawn jingled the keys in his hand, making a 'clink-clank' sound.
This was the C Block key chain, meaning the two wouldn't need to resort to forced entry.
And with the clanging sound of the keys, several decayed arms suddenly reached out from the second floor of the cell block where they were.
They stretched their hands through the gaps in the iron bars, continuously emitting hungry whimpers.
Shawn looked up at the locked doors above in surprise, then looked back at Shane and chuckled.
"Looks like those guys upstairs had bad luck, being in solitary confinement at this very moment."
"They must have starved to death, right?"
Shane drew his machete and walked up, agreeing after hearing Shawn's words.
"No wonder these idiots look so weak."
"Trapped here, starved to death while alive, and still starving after death."
As he spoke, Shane took out these old guys one by one with his machete.
Because of the iron door's isolation, it was inconvenient to use weapons, so Shawn didn't contend with him.
The entire Prison was a huge treasure for Shawn, who 'grows stronger by killing corpses'.
So there was no need to care about these two or three.
The two spent about an hour checking the entire C Block cell block from beginning to end.
After confirming that all'surviving' Walkers had been dealt with and nothing was missed.
The two then locked a C Block main door and approached the passage connecting C Block and B Block.
