In the far east, at the Ancient Capital, two people approached the city gate. The black-robed man leading the way, followed by a young boy wearing shabby clothes. The man was giving off the vibes of utmost authority, like the whole world was insignificant in his eyes, while the boy was too weak to even walk straight, his body shaking with each step.
At the city gate, a long row of caravans and people were waiting for their turn to enter the Ancient Capital. The black robed man simply walked straight towards the city gate, ignoring all the gazes cast on him. The boy, despite being fearful, still walked behind him.
Just as the man was about to cross the city gate, a small group of guards tried to block his way, but they were stopped by a woman dressed in a luxurious yellow gown. Hearing the woman's order, all the guards quickly backed off. Her appearance quickly attracted hundreds of gazes and whispers. But none of that concerned the Blood God, as he simply walked in without even acknowledging the lady who helped him.
Chen Yi, who was following behind the Blood God, also noticed the commotion despite being extremely tired. He lifted his eyes while dragging his feet forward. At the entrance of the ancient city stood a beautiful woman, whose eyes were like sapphires, her blonde hair combed with a jade hairpin. Noticing Chen Yi's gaze, the woman looked at him. As their eyes met, she gave him a light smile.
The woman's smile almost made Chen Yi freeze in his place. When he came to his senses, he saw that the Blood God's figure had already turned into a distant black dot which was about to vanish from his sight. He quickly gathered his strength and ran toward him before losing sight of the last hope of getting his mother back.
Seeing Chen Yi chasing after the Blood God, a spark appeared within the woman's eyes. But she didn't follow them.
The Blood God was strolling through the local market of the ancient capital like an emperor. His gaze was indifferent to this mortal sight, as he calmly walked through the crowd.
"Huh, so this is how the mortal city looks," The Blood God whispered, his eyes glistening in an unusual light. The spark of curiosity, which was lit up for a moment, quickly vanished. A little girl who was chased by a few people crashed into him. The collision didn't even make him flinch, while the girl collapsed on the ground, giving other people a chance to catch her.
"Finally, caught you," A man with a towering physique came forward, grabbing the girl by her neck, as she tried to struggle free, only to be thrown back on the ground. The man didn't even care about her injuries or her young age and went forward, pulling her hair, dragging her with him. Just as the scene was being pulled off, Chen Yi had also caught up, and the sight in front of him didn't cause his blood to boil; instead, the fear gripped his heart as he looked at the indifferent figure standing beside him.
Chen Yi was hoping for this indifferent being to step in and help this little girl. Finally, he spoke, "Wandering surely wasn't just making things up about the mortal realm."
Hearing the Blood God's word, Chen Yi didn't feel any sympathy or righteousness in his words. They were cold, just like the tales he had heard about immortals in his village.
"Do you want to save her?" Just when Chen Yi was lost in thought while judging the world, he heard a cold voice pulling him into reality. He looked at the Black robed figure who stood towering amidst the crowd, unaffected by the chaos around.
"Yes…" Chen Yi tried to explain himself, but was cut off by the chilling voice, "Then go save her."
Chen Yi looked at the black robed man with a shocked expression, then at his weak body. "You want to save her, or you want me to save her?"
"I…" Chen Yi opened his mouth, trying to say that he couldn't even save himself, let alone save her, but his words didn't leave his mouth. His eyes turned towards the man who was dragging away the girl, and his eyes drifted towards other people who were completely blind to the girl.
Just when he felt lost. A warm current flowed through his body, clearing his head, and hundreds of doubts formed a clear answer. He glanced at the black ring before chasing after the man who was dragging the girl away. The Blood God watched him make a move, despite being powerless and murmured while shaking his head, "Mortals."
"Let go of her," Chen Yi said, looking at the bearded man. The man paused and looked at him, his face filled with annoyance. He threw a kick at Chen Yi's stomach before turning around, dragging the girl with him. Chen Yi lay on the ground watching the man leave, both his hands clenching on his stomach. The Blood God stood indifferently, watching the man leave.
Suddenly, the man paused in his track, his right hand clenching his chest, as his body collapsed on the ground, lifeless. The man's sudden fall caused the uproar in the crowd, but no one went to check on him. The girl also stood up and ran towards the only person who tried to help her.
She came to Chen Yi and helped him to stand up. Chen Yi looked at the little girl's face, covered in scars and dirt, before turning toward the black robed god. Chen Yi walked towards him, the little girl supporting his body.
The Blood God completely ignored Chen Yi's pitiful figure and walked past him. As he passed by the man's dead body, the corpse turned into black particles flying away with the wind. A huge commotion started within the crowd, seeing this magical sight. Chen Yi and the little girl, without knowing what to do or where to go, just followed behind this overpowered god without knowing the destination.
Three people, completely different from each other, sat within an exquisite inn. A handsome man wearing a black cape munched on some random meat served in this unknown inn. There wasn't any expression on his face, while opposite to him sat two beggars wearing filthy clothes and covered in dirt, a girl around 10 or 12 and a boy in his 18s.
The girl was hastily devouring her food, while the boy was also eating happily, but his eyes were still glancing at the man in front with each bite.
"So, the real Blood Jade is in your elder sister's hand, right?" The Blood God spoke, staring at Chen Yi, making his body shiver in the cold.
Chen Yi nodded quickly while saying, "Though she has the Blood Jade, I will quickly get it back, Lord Immortal. You don't need to do it personally."
"Immortal…," The Blood god spoke as the whole restaurant fell into an icy abyss. A feeling of dread ran down Chen Yi's spine, and even the girl beside him had fainted on the table. But before Chen Yi could react, a fat man came to their table and bowed to Blood God.
"Senior, please calm down. They are mostly mortals here; you would scare them away." The fat man spoke with a smile.
The Blood God's gaze shifted at this newcomer, and the cold surrounding the inn vanished, but the Fat man was now covered in sweat as his blood started to freeze. The man didn't even hesitate, bending his knees.
"Please forgive this junior's interruption," The man slammed his head on the floor as blood started to flood from his nose and ears. Seeing this sight, Chen Yi was horrified. He wanted to help this fat man, but was unable to gather enough courage to intervene.
After a few seconds, the cold gripping the fat man's heart vanished as his blood flow turned normal again. He peeked at the demonic figure who still sat in his chair. He waited for a few minutes for the man to speak before standing up, but he didn't hear a single word from the Blood God. He continued to kowtow.
The whispers started spreading amongst the people in the inn. Everyone was curious about this unknown person who made the Young Master of the Zhao family kowtow in public.
After sitting in the almost empty inn for a bit longer, the Blood God stood up, still ignoring the fat man kowtowing on the ground. Chen Yi also followed behind, carrying the unconscious girl on his back.
After they left, the fat man also stood up, staring at the departing silhouette of the most terrifying man he had met in his life.
…
Three of them stood in front of the Fang family mansion. The place was heavily guarded with several guards patrolling around. Chen Yi was talking with guards while the Blood God observed the surroundings with his cold gaze. The little girl was standing beside him silently.
With each passing second, Chen Yi looked back at the black robed man behind. He didn't want a disaster to fall upon the Fang Family after all; this was his sister's family. He won't be able to forgive himself if anything happens to his sister.
As Chen Yi was trying to get their way in the Fang mansion, a group of young people came out from inside. Amidst this group of newcomers was a beautiful woman in a white robe carrying a silver sword in her hands, followed by a luxuriously dressed handsome man in red. The woman brushed past Chen Yi. While Chen Yi's eyes weren't on the woman, but on the man behind her.
"Brother-in-Law, I need to discuss an urgent matter with my sister." Chen Yi quickly spoke to the man. But the man simply pushed him away and chased after the woman in white. Chen Yi fell on the ground as the little girl quickly helped him to stand up. Chen Yi wasn't embarrassed by this moment as much as he feared the Blood God. He glanced at the Blood God from the corner of his eyes, only to see him walking directly towards the Fang Mansion.
The Blood God barged into the Fang Mansion without any wary. Chen Yi wanted to stop him, but he knew that he couldn't, so he just followed behind. Guards quickly tried to block the way forward, but suddenly, all guards fell on the ground clutching their chests. The scent of blood filled the air as the blood seeped from the seven orifices of these guards. Chen Yi covered his mouth while also covering the little girl's eyes with the other hand.
The Blood God took a step into the Fang Mansion boldly, causing an uproar among the guards. But they were also helpless in front of this trespasser's absolute power. In the Blood God's eyes, they were nothing more than dust.
"L-Lord immortal… this junior greets the Lord Immortal." A man with a white beard came forward, bowed to the Blood God, his face covered in sweat.
The Blood God looked at this old man before giving a cold glance at Chen Yi. Chen Yi understood what the Blood God wanted, so he quickly said to the old man, "Elder Yu, this lord is here to meet Fang Lingxi for some important matters. But the guards didn't let us in."
"What! These mortals dare to stop the Lord…" The old man spoke out in a loud voice as if he had nothing to do with his own family's guards.
"I don't have time to waste around," The Blood God said in an absolute, cold voice. His voice seemed to penetrate through one's blood, commanding life itself.
"This way, lord immortal, I will send someone to fetch her quickly," The old man responded almost instantly, ordering a guard beside him to invite the Fang Lingxi as he himself became the guide for the Blood God.
Fang Lingxi quickly came to the main hall of the Fang family. As she entered the room, her eyes were locked on the black robed man sitting there. His cold gaze almost froze her heart for a second, but she quickly regained her composure.
"Senior, please accept this junior's greeting." She bowed slightly, her body slightly tense, yet she was able to hide it very efficiently, but in the eyes of the Blood God, this girl, despite being quite meticulous, was still just an insignificant speck of dust.
Blood God didn't even bother to send away the Fang family's elder and asked her directly, "Where is the Blood Jade?"
Hearing the Blood God's word, the Fang family elders became quite interested. A treasure that could cause such a terrifying immortal to descend into these barren lands surely won't be ordinary. His gaze also turned to Fang Lingxi, wanting to know if she really had this treasure.
"Lord Immortal, I don't have it anymore. I gave to my benefactor who once saved my life." Fang Lingxi said in a very calm and polite tone, despite knowing the other party wouldn't believe her word. But she had the instinct that lying would cost more than telling the truth. One hand inside her robe was clutching onto a special talisman. She was ready to escape at any moment if he tried to kill her.
"Oh, then where can I find him?" The Blood God asked again.
"I don't know," She answered while activating the talisman in her hand. Her body vanished with a silver flash.
Seeing her running away like this, Elder Han was terrified as his eyes looked for the Blood God, only to find he was also not there.
Chen Yi was also extremely worried for his sister, but he didn't expect her to run away with Blood Jade. He still wanted to save her, but all he could good now is hope, hope that she will be able to escape from the grasp of this Immortal.
Thousands of miles away from the ancient capital within the Dark Forest, a woman appeared out of nowhere, scaring away the wild beasts in the surroundings.
"I should have killed that Chen Yi, a little bit of mercy, and he threw that demon behind me," Fang Lingxi said, staring in the direction of the ancient capital, trying to sense if someone was following her or not. Though this special talisman doesn't leave a trace behind but some treasure can still track the special route.
"I'll give enough time to get the Blood Jade back. As long as you can return the Blood Jade before I decide to leave this mortal realm, or I will have to get it myself." A cold voice came from behind, making her terrified to turn around. She wanted to use the escape talisman again, but she was unable to control her body, as her blood seemed to enter the reverse flow, almost making her faint. This feeling didn't last long and vanished quickly. When she turned around, she found nothing but a giant tree.
Inside the Fang Family mansion, the Blood God appeared again as silent as he had left. The Elder Han looked at the Blood God wanted to hear more about the Blood Jade, but didn't dare ask.
"I will be staying here for tonight. Prepare a room for me," The Blood God ordered the Elder Han.
"Yes, Lord Immortal, we will also prepare a huge banquet for your arrival." The Elder Han said with a fake smile plastered on his face. But no one cared about his words.
