Chapter 39 - Episode 29.3: A Life Begins to Bloom

◇

To put it bluntly, there was no way that things could have ended without incident after that.

In a dimly lit room, two lovers, a man and a woman, whose survival instincts were amplified by the war and whose sexual desires were aroused, are crammed together. Needless to say, they continued to have sex endlessly.

Soon after we started eating the porridge, Ichihime began saying "Aah," and I returned the gesture by saying "Aah."

And before I knew it, it escalated into a more advanced game where we were pouring chewed porridge down each other's esophagus, and before I realized it, I had pinned him down and ejaculated a huge load inside him.

After that, we did all sorts of things, like slightly opening the sliding door to tease Ichihime about her embarrassment with a little exhibitionism, or role-playing where I was the father and Ichihime was the daughter, or even light S&M where I treated Ichihime like a dog and spanked her under the guise of discipline.

In the end, my big sun is incredibly sore and painful from the fatigue of working. Ichihime's honey pot has also become bright red and swollen from repeated sexual intercourse.

However, since the role-playing and "playing dog" were ideas suggested by Ichihime, I don't think I'm entirely to blame.

Anyway, after we were both covered in mud, we slept soundly due to exhaustion, and I woke up around noon when the sun was fully up in the sky.

"Oh, good morning... Lord Nagamasa..."

When she acknowledged that I was awake, Ichihime, her face bright red, greeted me while offering me a ladle filled with water.

It seems my memory of yesterday wasn't a figment of my imagination after all.

Even so, I'm impressed by how clearly they can distinguish between day and night.

"We are currently preparing lunch, so please wait a little while."

With a dazed mind, I scratched the back of my head and watched Ichihime continue working with ease.

However, we can't keep doing that forever.

(I should wash my face...)

I grabbed a bucket, went outside, drew water from the well, filled the bucket with it, and started washing with a splashing sound.

The cold water stimulated my skin, refreshing both my mind and body.

(I wonder what we'll have for lunch today.)

Although last night we ended up getting aroused and "that kind of thing" happened, it's clear that Ichihime's cooking skills are quite impressive.

Fortunately, the common trope in light novels that "pretty girls are bad cooks" didn't hold true.

(When my wife cooks well, I look forward to every milestone in the day.)

Thinking such cheerful and somewhat foolish thoughts, I took off my shoes on the veranda, slid open the sliding door, and stepped into the room.

 But there—

"Hey, hey! What's wrong?!"

Indeed, my Ichihime was covering her mouth and groaning in pain.

I could feel the blood draining from my face.

"Are you feeling sick? Do you want to throw up?"

In response to my question, Ichihime nodded sadly.

I quickly ran outside, grabbed the bucket I'd left there, and sprinted back into the room.

Then he placed it in front of her and slowly stroked her back.

However, even after she had relieved herself, Ichihime still seemed to be in pain.

I have very little medical knowledge.

More accurately, even if one knew about it, it's unclear how much of it could be useful in this era.

In the world I lived in, we overwhelmingly relied on commercially available medicines when it came to curing illnesses.

After putting Ichihime to bed, I rushed out of the mansion and ran towards the castle gate.

And there, the person I most wanted to meet was in charge of the repair work.

"Naotsune! Naotsune!"

"Is that you, my lord? What can I do for you?"

She stared intently at me, who looked flustered, and said, "Please pull yourself together."

He really is a reliable man. But first and foremost, I had to inform them of Ichihime's abnormality.

"What...? Your wife is feeling nauseous...?"

"Oh, really? Everything was fine until now, and then it happened all of a sudden ... So that's it!"蹲Crouch

Naotsune showed a momentary hesitation, then nodded and said, "I understand."

Then, after telling me to return to the mansion, he ran off to another enclosure of Sugawa Castle. He must have gone to fetch a doctor.

I know that medicine in this era is close to superstition, yet it's such a contradiction to still cling to it.

But if I don't do that, I feel like I'll go crazy.

I rushed back to the mansion and stopped Ichihime, who was trying to get up. I held her down and forced her back to the bed, despite her saying, "I'm fine."

And sure enough, while all this was going on, Naotsune arrived with an old woman who looked like a doctor.

"I apologize, but I would like you to wait outside for a moment, Master."

Following the old woman's instructions, I went out onto the veranda with Naotsune.

"You seem quite restless, my lord."

"Of course!"

Naotsune remained completely calm, and his words enraged me.

"My beloved wife is suffering, of course I'm worried!"

"Now, please calm down, my lord."

Naotsune calmly restrained me as I became enraged.

"There's probably nothing serious going on. Besides, I too used to panic just like you, my lord. It's a path everyone goes through."

"What?!"

Not understanding what was going on, and feeling frustrated by the situation, I clenched my teeth and fell silent.

I didn't understand what Naotsune meant, but what did he mean by "a path everyone goes down"? I had absolutely no idea—I was stuck in a spiral of imagining only the worst-case scenarios.

"Lord, Lord Naotsune"

The sliding door suddenly opened, and the old woman's face peeked out.

I entered the room with Naotsune as she invited me in.

Ichihime was already up, staring at me with teary eyes.

"Hey, is the city alright?! Is it not sick?!"

"Congratulations!"

"--teeth?"

Without answering any of my questions, which came pouring out like a dam breaking, the old woman simply offered words of blessing and bowed down before me.

 I can't comprehend what's going on.

Then Naotsune patted me on the back, urging me to look at the old woman and Ichihime.

Then—the old woman raised her head, a broad smile on her face, and said:

"I have lived my life in this profession for 50 years. There is no way I could have done this. My lord... congratulations, my lady, you are pregnant!"診間違Mimachiga

To be honest, I don't remember much about what happened after that.

There must have been all sorts of things that happened—Ichihime hugging him, Naotsune weeping uncontrollably, Naotsune sending messengers and his senior retainers storming Sugawa Castle—but it all felt like a dream, like it was happening to someone else, and before I knew it, time had passed.

Ichihime is currently in her room, embracing and weeping with the three ladies-in-waiting who accompanied her from the Oda family.

While listening to the cries of joy from the women, I sat alone on the veranda, gazing at the full moon floating in the night sky of Yayoi, mixing the indescribable feelings of happiness and anxiety that welled up inside me with my sighs and exhaling them.

(If anything—it seems that Ichi was conceived right around the time her period ended...)

Since I was the one who took her virginity, I can't imagine her having had sex with any other man before we got married.

Without a doubt, he's my child.

 --A father, huh?

I, who had lost my parents and was living in a welfare facility, am transported to the Sengoku period and have a child...

To be honest, I have a lot of anxieties. Giving birth in this day and age is life-threatening, and above all, the chances of the child surviving to adulthood are extremely low.

But even so, the image of Ichihime's supreme smile comes back to me, and I can't help but smile myself.

 March 1567--

It was the sprouting of new life after so many lives had been lost in the war.
