Chapter 62 - Mado Akira

The blonde woman stood with her legs slightly apart, hands gripping a weapon that resembled a rapier, looking at Akuto with a solemn expression.

Not to mention, that little expression, that little figure.

Even a 'villain' like Akuto couldn't help but feel a bit excited.

The blonde woman stared at Akuto for a long time before finally putting away her weapon.

"I can help you find what you're looking for, but you must cooperate with my investigation."

"I am CCG Second Class Investigator Mado Akira." Akira took out her ID and flashed it at Akuto.

Akuto thought about it and felt that this was a decent plan. The CCG was the official power in this world.

To some extent, it was indeed much better than wandering around blindly on his own.

Regarding the plot of Ghoul, Akuto only remembered part of it—specifically, the first half.

As for the latter plot, Akuto had mostly forgotten it.

Most importantly, if Akuto were asked now which ward the Anteiku Coffee Shop was in, he wouldn't be able to say.

So, without a major organization to rely on, the CCG was a good choice. "Fine."

As soon as Akuto finished speaking, footsteps echoed in the distance, followed by five or six Investigators rushing over, each carrying a briefcase.

"Second Class Investigator Mado!"

"The Ghoul..."

The group looked at the mess on the scene in silence; blood was splattered all over the walls.

It looked more like a body disposal site.

The Ghoul's corpse on the ground was already beyond recognition.

"The Ghoul has been exterminated with the help of this gentleman. I'll leave the rest to you." As Akira spoke, she lightly pressed a button on her weapon, and it transformed back into a briefcase.

"This way, please."

Akira had no expression, maintaining a business-like attitude as she led Akuto to a small Nissan.

To be honest, the car was so small that Akuto, at his height, almost couldn't fit inside.

Akira showed a hint of embarrassment, but she quickly hid it and said seriously.

"Get in."

*Chug chug chug...*

The car started with a noise like a tractor, and Akuto couldn't help but laugh out loud. "If you don't get in, you can walk there yourself."

Akira's cheeks were slightly flushed, but her expression remained very stern.

Akuto crammed his body into the car. The interior space was even smaller than a sports car!

Sports cars only look small, but once you're inside, you can actually stretch out.

But in this car, Akuto's knees had to stay tucked in.

Akira started the engine.

Every part of the car seemed to groan, but fortunately, they arrived at the CCG branch, albeit shakily.

Akira walked through the main gate and turned back to look at Akuto.

Akuto walked in without any issues.

Akira looked up and saw that the detection gate did not sound an alarm.

Akira brought Akuto to a room. After pouring him a cup of tea, she soon brought over a detection device and scanned Akuto several times.

"RC cell count is completely normal. This guy... is human!" This result made Akira's pupils tremble with shock.

She had seen Akuto's battle not long ago.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to describe it as overwhelming.

A B-Rank Ghoul was no different from a toy in Akuto's hands.

Using only physical strength, Akuto had torn apart the connection between the Ghoul and its Kagune.

And then there was that attack she couldn't understand at all, which looked like some kind of slash.

"Your ID card."

Akira opened her laptop and held out her hand to Akuto.

"Don't have one."

"Sir, you need to cooperate with my investigation!" Akira slapped the table and stared at Akuto sternly.

"I said I don't have one."

Akira was so angry that her breathing became heavy. She then gave Akuto a deep look and took out her phone to take a photo of him.

The result from the database also showed... no such person was found!

"Impossible! How could the database not have your information? What is your name?"

"Akuto."

Akira checked again. There were a few similar names, but not a single one was his.

Unless it was a fake name.

This guy might have actually popped out of nowhere.

Akira narrowed her eyes, then slammed the table and stood up with a bang. "Speak! Are you a fugitive or an illegal immigrant?"

"I'm warning you. Although the CCG doesn't usually handle people like you, it doesn't mean we don't have the capability!"

*Click.*

Akuto lit a cigarette and shrugged, "And then?"

"Smoking is prohibited in the office!"

Akira's tone softened slightly. "However, there is a way. If you join the CCG, I can help you process an identity and cover up the fact that you're an undocumented resident."

"Pfft…!"

Akuto couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Officer, has anyone ever told you that your acting is terrible?"

"Alright, I'm not interested in playing this boring game with you anymore." Akuto's gaze sharpened. "Help me find what I want, or I'll kill everyone here."

"Do you know where you are!"

Akira was shocked that Akuto could say such a thing!

"My patience is limited." Akuto was running out of patience. He hadn't followed Akira here to be interrogated.

Moreover, no one was qualified to interrogate Akuto.

"You..."

"Wait here!"

Akira gritted her teeth!

Although Akira didn't like Akuto's personality, she couldn't deny that he was an extremely powerful combat asset.

To be able to kill a Ghoul without a quinque.

Such an ability was unheard of.

The current CCG needed all the power it could get!

He waited for over an hour. "These are the things you wanted. I'm not sure if they'll be useful."

Akira walked in carrying half a meter's worth of documents and shoved them into Akuto's arms.

"Thanks, we're even."

Akuto left the CCG with the documents. Looking at the busy streets, he fell into deep thought.

He didn't even have a place to stay in this world. "How can I get some money?"

Akuto didn't want to go back to Miko's world to get money. Although he could do it, it felt a bit pathetic.

"Mr. Hoshino, you don't happen to have nowhere to go, do you?" Akira walked out and saw Akuto, seemingly wanting to gain a bit of an upper hand verbally.

Who would have thought that Akuto would nod quite frankly!

Now it was Akira's turn to be embarrassed.

"Um... how about you stay at my place for the night?"

"Okay."

The two of them were equally rude.

Akira's eyes twitched.

She never used honorifics when talking to others, nor did she use long, polite phrases.

Many people had told her off for it, but she didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

Everything was for efficiency.

That time was better spent killing another Ghoul.

But when Akira met someone even ruder than herself, she finally realized how frustrated the people she worked with must have felt.

"I was just being polite. Won't you feel shy about staying at a woman's house who lives alone?"

"No."

"Lead the way."

Akira took a deep breath and opened the car door with a smile that was awkward yet polite.
