Chapter 20 - The Finger's Whereabouts

Kuroda crawled backward in terror, his voice rasping as he spoke:

"Wait! I..."

THUD!

Akuto delivered a soccer kick that dislocated Kuroda's jaw, stifling the words in his mouth.

"Old man, you're looking down on me a bit, aren't you?"

Akuto looked at Kuroda indifferently.

"Since when do I have to listen just because you want to talk? I don't feel like listening right now. Let's have some fun first!"

As soon as Akuto finished speaking, he stomped down again.

Next, Kishida Itsuki and the other two watched as Kuroda's limbs were crushed, healed, and crushed again.

That cruel scene sent chills down their spines.

Kuroda's heart-wrenching screams gradually turned into meaningless groans.

His eyes glazed over, and saliva dripped from his mouth.

"It's truly a fate worse than death... He can't even manage to commit suicide now..."

"He'll just be healed..."

"And then face even more painful torture..."

The girl holding the teddy bear behind Kishida Itsuki and the old man swallowed hard.

The torture lasted for over three hours.

The first light of dawn had already appeared on the horizon.

"Hmm?"

Akuto glanced at the sky and shook the bits of flesh off his leg, looking somewhat unsatisfied.

"It seems our happy time is coming to an end."

As Akuto spoke, he healed Kuroda once more, this time including his shattered jaw.

"Ugh... I'll talk! Stop hitting me! I'll tell you everything!"

"My Shikigami comes from the Card Society. As long as you participate in the Ema Ritual, you can become a formal member, and then the President bestows a Shikigami..."

"We gather every Sunday night at an abandoned farm thirty kilometers east of the city. I've seen what you mentioned..."

"The finger you mentioned, that's the President's sacred artifact. He said it was a gift from a god..."

"That's all I know. Please... please let me go... I'll definitely turn over a new leaf and be a good person."

Kuroda looked at Akuto hopefully, attempting to find a chance to survive.

"Miss, could you hand this person over to us?"

"We are from the Exorcism Society, an official organization specifically responsible for handling cases of Exorcists committing evil."

Kishida Itsuki mustered his courage and took a step forward.

Kuroda's eyes lit up, and he immediately said excitedly:

"Yes, yes, yes! I've killed many people! I even killed many children! Arrest me..."

SQUELCH!

In front of everyone, Akuto directly crushed Kuroda's head.

"Oops, I accidentally stomped him to death. Do you want to arrest me?"

Akuto turned his head playfully, blood splattered on his face—beautiful yet cruel.

Kishida Itsuki and the others felt a chill in their hearts, secretly lamenting their luck.

Are you kidding? Who would dare to arrest you!

Jumping down from a helicopter already makes you a superhuman, okay?

"Uh... anyway, this kind of person would be sentenced to death if caught, so..."

Akuto didn't bother listening to their explanation. He turned and lightly jumped onto the wall, then seemed to remember something and looked back.

"By the way, what is this Ema?"

Hearing those words, Kishida Itsuki's eyes revealed deep resentment.

"It's a ritual of the Card Society. When every member joins, they must kidnap an infant, smear the infant's blood on the sacrificial altar, and combine it with their own blood to perform the ritual. They then obtain their identity, which is a blood-colored card."

"This society has existed for nearly a hundred years. As many as hundreds of thousands of people have died at their hands."

"In order to capture them, we have also sacrificed thousands of Exorcists..."

After Kishida Itsuki finished speaking, Akuto turned and vanished into the darkness without a word.

Phew...

At that moment, Kishida Itsuki and the other two slumped to the ground as if they had lost all their strength.

The pressure that the young girl gave them was simply too strong.

She didn't seem like a human at all!

More of a monster than a monster.

"What do we do next?"

The old man in the three-person team who used paper talismans looked helplessly at the corpse in the distance.

"The 'I See You' game is still spreading. If this continues, the number of deaths will only increase exponentially, and we will be held responsible."

Hearing this, Kishida Itsuki gritted his teeth hard, his fists clenching until they cracked.

The 'I See You' game was a type of horror adventure game developed by the Card Society.

They took advantage of the public's ignorance of evil spirits and the lack of reverence teenagers had for them to develop an adventure game.

As long as you are on the road at night and say 'I see you' to an empty space, you can prove you are the bravest.

This game quickly became a craze in Tokyo, and it even had the potential to rival games like Kokkuri-san.

But the danger level of Kokkuri-san was nowhere near as high as 'I See You'.

Once any evil spirit is seen, it can harm humans without any restraint.

The death rate is 100%!

So far, forty-one students have died from this game.

And the more it is banned, the more it piques the curiosity of teenagers.

Now the Exorcism Society faces a huge dilemma: banning the 'I See You' game doesn't work, but neither does banning it.

The Card Society's open scheme was simply unsolvable!

"I say, Captain, why don't we invite that little sister from just now?"

"If she were here... the Card Society would be nothing but a joke, right?"

Kishida Itsuki's eyes lit up, but they quickly dimmed again.

"No, we still can't confirm if she's a friend or foe."

"And... she didn't leave any contact information..."

The teddy bear girl stretched:

"Anyway, we heard about the Card Society's gathering place. This is the first time in a hundred years we've pried open the mouth of a Card Society member."

"We'll definitely see her then. I want to take her as my master!"

...On the other side.

The sky was gradually brightening.

Akuto leaned against the wall downstairs of the Yotsuya Family's residence, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag.

It had been over a month since coming to this world, and he finally found a clue to the second finger.

Akuto had previously discovered that the Role-playing Degree had a limit.

The synchronization limit for a single finger was 5%.

Furthermore, many abilities were unusable.

With Akuto's current 5% synchronization, the Reverse Cursed Technique, martial arts, and strength he used were all too poor.

Originally, Akuto thought there might only be two fingers in this world.

Now it seemed there were more.

Because judging by Akuto's current power, if there were only two, the synchronization limit would be 10%.

Then if the next world had even a bit more intensity, Akuto might become a loser.

Death wasn't the scariest thing. Akuto knew very well that his current vessel was Sukuna's Finger, and it was impossible to be killed anyway, unless a power far exceeding the Jujutsu world's power system intervened.

Immortality was the scariest thing.

Being suppressed for all eternity.

Just like Sukuna, being locked in a sealed space for a thousand years.

Unable to die even if he wanted to.

It was simply a nightmare.

So Akuto inferred that the number of fingers in this world should exceed three, meaning a minimum synchronization limit of 15%.

That way, Akuto could generally use all of Sukuna's abilities; after that, it would just be a matter of power difference.

Exhaling the last puff of smoke, Akuto crushed the cigarette butt and walked toward the Yotsuya Family home.

"Who exactly are you? Why did you occupy my daughter's body? What is your purpose!"

At that moment, Miko's father, the Benevolent Spirit emitting a golden light, blocked Akuto's path.

"Don't get in the way. I don't want to kill you."

Akuto waved his hand as if shooing away a fly.

"No! For my daughter, I won't let you continue even if it means death!"

Mr. Yotsuya stood firmly in front of Akuto.

Akuto, who had his head lowered, now looked up, a flash of crimson light passing through his eyes.

With just a single glance, the courage Mr. Yotsuya had gathered instantly vanished, and he stumbled back several steps.

He was just a Benevolent Spirit and actually had no combat power at all.
