"If the Moon Goddess hasn't taken your powers away, then maybe this isn't as wrong as we think it is," Grey said after a moment of silence.
His voice was soft but thoughtful. "If it truly was wrong, why would she still choose you now?"
Lord Jethro did not answer immediately. His arms were still around Grey, but Grey felt the subtle shift in his body, the way his muscles tensed as if the question had struck somewhere deeper than intended.
"But if it's not wrong," Jethro began slowly, "then what about the population? It's written clearly in the history books that relationships like this once drained the numbers, that it weakened the packs, and that's why it was forbidden."
"If she doesn't see it as wrong, then why hasn't she ever tied two people of the same gender as destined mates? In all the times she had chosen for others, there had never been one like this."
