Lord Jethro finally spoke after the heavy silence that had stretched between them, his voice quiet but weighed down with the gravity of his thoughts. "Honestly, at this point, I really don't know what kind of leader I want to be. I don't know if I want to change the world that I built myself, change the rules I've forced everyone into, just because I myself can't follow them anymore. I wouldn't have changed it if some other two men came and told me they felt the same way we feel for each other. But now that it is me, I want to change that."
The words came slowly, as though he had to wrestle each one out of himself. Grey could feel the tension coiled inside him, the effort it took to speak so honestly, and yet to maintain the calm that his posture and expression suggested.
It was a façade, Grey knew, though it was worn thin, barely concealing the storm beneath.
