Bella's POV
I left Toby with Silas in the living room, knowing full well what awaited me.
Fiona was furious. I found her stretched across my bed, one arm draped over her eyes, ankles crossed in that particular way that screamed she'd been stewing in her anger, waiting for my return.
"Fiona?" I ventured softly.
"Tell me you didn't just leave that man alone with Toby." She sat up abruptly, her hair disheveled from tossing around in frustration.
"He's fine," I said, though my voice lacked the conviction I was aiming for. "They should spend time together."
Her eyebrows shot toward her hairline. "Fine? Why on earth would he need time with Toby? The contract is void. The child they paid for doesn't exist anymore." She gestured wildly, her disbelief palpable.
"I understand that," I exhaled, pressing my palms together nervously. "But Toby deserves to know his father, even briefly. I don't want him growing up with zero memories of the man."
