Chapter 36: Are You Hungry?
A young man was seen wielding a knife, hacking away at zombies. In front of him, a pile of their corpses had already accumulated, while a continuous stream of zombies rushed up the corridor.
Lu Yurou watched as this young man bravely fought and killed the zombies.
Suddenly, she felt a sense of inexplicable admiration.
This feeling even surprised herself.
From childhood to adulthood, she had never admired any man.
Including her own father.
Even when her father had died protecting her just a few days ago, she hadn't felt much of a stir.
Perhaps she was just born an overly rational and cold-hearted woman.
"Student, get in here and take cover! The more noise you make, the more these zombies will gather! It's dangerous out there!" Lu Yurou said anxiously.
Xiao Yi turned his head and glanced at Lu Yurou inside the security window.
This beautiful professor was still as beautiful as ever, and very kind.
Although her hair was disheveled and her flawless, snow-white face was stained with some blood, it still couldn't hide her noble and elegant beauty.
Moreover, unlike Tang Jingyan, Li Wanning, and the others, Lu Yurou possessed a more mature charm.
Like a perfectly ripe peach, she was full and luscious, making one unable to resist the urge to take a bite.
Feeling Lu Yurou's concern, Xiao Yi was somewhat amused.
Did he look like someone who was afraid of zombies?
Xiao Yi cut down several of the closest zombies in succession and, the moment Lu Yurou opened the door, slipped into her room.
"Student, do you realize how dangerous what you're doing is? These zombies are endless; the more you kill, the more come. They'll attack frantically the moment they hear a sound. I've already seen several reckless people get swallowed by the horde. You're very brave, but you shouldn't be running around."
Lu Yurou lectured him as if an elder admonishing a child.
Lu Yurou was actually quite happy. Having had no contact with other living people for a long time, combined with the hardship of surviving in the apocalypse, made her feel a strong sense of goodwill toward the Xiao Yi.
It was even like the feeling of meeting an old friend in a foreign land.
The original ice queen had become warm and enthusiastic.
Xiao Yi looked around. The faculty dorms were all single rooms, very spacious.
And Lu Yurou had kept it neat and tidy. A few books lay on the living room table; it was obvious that this beautiful professor passed her lonely hours by reading.
"Student, how did you get here?" Lu Yurou saw that Xiao Yi hadn't taken her warning to heart at all and couldn't help but ask curiously.
"I heard your cry for help and rushed over."
Lu Yurou froze for a moment, pointing toward the men's dormitory diagonally across. "Are you with them?"
Xiao Yi looked in the direction Lu Yurou was pointing and also saw a few young men staring at them.
These boys had probably just seen Xiao Yi's Spider-Man-like wall-scaling and his formidable ease in killing zombies, leaving them all dumbfounded.
Xiao Yi was speechless.
So, the beautiful professor hadn't been calling for help for herself?
She had been calling for the boys across the way?
But from Lu Yurou's window, the view of City of Sin was completely blocked by the women's dormitory, so it was true that she couldn't see anything.
"Then I must have misunderstood..." Xiao Yi scratched his head in embarrassment, pretending to be concerned as he asked, "Professor Lu, do you still have any food?"
"Are you hungry?" Lu Yurou turned around enthusiastically, taking a cup of water and a bowl of rice from the kitchen. "I have plenty of food here. If you're hungry, eat as much as you like!"
Lu Yurou's reaction once again left Xiao Yi speechless.
"I'm not hungry..." Xiao Yi waved his hand. "I have my own food."
"Then do you have enough water?" Xiao Yi asked again.
"I was running out, but then I discovered that although the zombie virus is transmitted through water, and boiling it at 100 degrees doesn't kill the virus, if you boil it for a long enough time, the water becomes drinkable. So, I'm not short on water now."
This was a hard-won lesson Lu Yurou had learned by risking her life when she had no other choice.
"As for food, because I'm usually quite lazy, my father stocked my kitchen with a lot of rice, flour, and other staples. The food in there should be enough for the two of us to last for over a month."
Lu Yurou recounted it all in detail.
The food was indeed bought by Lu Yurou's father. Besides staples like rice and flour, there was also a lot of meat and vegetables, though she had eaten most of them after the apocalypse began.
The reason her father had done this was because he always believed that restaurants outside were unhygienic, so he strongly insisted that Lu Yurou come home to eat.
However, because of a relationship issue, Lu Yurou had been giving her parents the silent treatment and refused to go home.
Her father, at his wit's end, had no choice but to personally buy and deliver food to her dormitory, hoping it would encourage her to cook for herself.
But Lu Yurou had continued to do her own thing, still eating out at restaurants.
By a stroke of fate, a large amount of food had been left in Lu Yurou's kitchen.
