"That's the one," Clarissa says, pointing at the ominous double doors, just as the sound of something crashing from the inside of the chamber makes us both jump. There's arguing coming from inside.
She mutters a prayer under her breath. "You can begin cleaning the outer chamber first."
No way I'm going in there.
But Clarissa remains, cocking an eyebrow at me and I make a mental note to leave the second she's gone as I slip inside quietly.
Blissfully, the fight is happening in the inner chamber, and I hurriedly set down the pile of silk sheets on the chaise.
I turn around to leave, but get stopped in my tracks when I hear King Oberon's ragged snarl. "You're going to kill her, aren't you?"
Ruin's voice scrapes over my skin in a cruel purr. "I told you I didn't appreciate being manipulated. Perhaps Ceaser was too stupid to see through your antics, but I am not."
