Days passed without rain, without harsh sunlight. Time moved quietly and Aiden and Isla's meeting became a habit .They still didn't talk much but the silence between them was no longer unfamiliar.
One evening, as the sun was setting and the sky was soaked in golden light, Isla seemed unusually quiet.
Aiden noticed, but he didn't ask.
After a while, she spoke on her own. 'If one day i don't come...will you wait?''
The question was simple, but it felt like a stone dropped into Aiden's chest
''Why wouldn't you come?''he asked quickly.
Isla smiled but the light in it was dim. 'Just like that...life doesn't always stay the same.''
Aiden wanted to say something but the words refused to stay with him. For the first time he realized that some distances begin to grow even before people leave.
That evening, as she walked away, Aiden watched her longer than usual. AND a strange feeling rose in his heart. As if time, in it's quiet way was preparing to take something away.
