Chapter 1 - Rebirth

It's strange being dead. I had expected something else, to be honest, though I had never been very religious; there were some expectations. All I could see was a strange void; even my own body seemed not to have made it here, though that may have been for the best. I had died a rather sudden way, like so many before me. I was late for work, and a truck helped acquaint my head with the street, at least it didn't hurt.

Just as I was beginning to accept this strange purgatory I found myself in, I saw something, or more accurately, someone getting closer. This new being was somehow stranger than the void surrounding me. He looked like a person, but his features didn't seem quite right if they were shifting around. I didn't have much time to ponder this, though, as he began speaking.

"Hello, James, I apologize for the wait."

"Wait, how do you know my name? Are you god or something?" I asked

"That would technically be correct, but not in the way you are thinking. I control the process of rebirth for those who met their ends too soon, and if you so wish, you may be reborn." His tone was comforting, and it made me feel warm, though that was quickly overcome by my confusion.

"Wait, reincarnation is real? I can come back and live another life!?" I was shocked at the idea of getting a second chance, but my dream was crushed.

"Unfortunately, your soul cannot be reborn into your previous world, but you can be transported to another if you so choose. The other option is you would have to wait here until your original time of death before passing on properly." His tone was sad, but the face didn't quite match it, oddly enough.

"How long would that be?"

"About 60 years."

"I'll take the new chance. Where am I going?"

He didn't say anything, just placed his hand on my head and pushed. The next thing I knew, I was falling very quickly before I passed out.

When I finally began to wake, there was still only darkness and what sounded like muffled voices. It didn't take long to realize when that being said, I would be reborn, he meant literally, as I was currently being born, a process I had hoped to never experience, but it would seem I had no choice. After an indeterminate amount of time, I finally saw light and shortly after, I was out into the world again, though which one I wasn't sure.

Opening my eyes, I had some trouble adjusting at first, but I could see several people standing around. They seemed to be happy at my emergence, though the amount of light suddenly entering my eyes mixed with the surrounding people all speaking very quickly and rather loudly, my little body was quickly overwhelmed, and I couldn't help but cry. I had hoped not to need to deal with this the second time, but I suppose there's only so much a baby can take. The next thing I knew, I was being handed to a woman, my new mother presumably, and she looked strange. Her hair was pure white, though she didn't look old enough for it; maybe she had it dyed? Her eyes were a striking blue as well, and she seemed pleased to be holding me.

A man standing next to her began speaking.

"You've done well, Nanako-San. The boy is healthy. What would you like to name him?"

'This one, do I have a sibling this time around?' I couldn't help but wonder, in my first life, I had been an only child, maybe it would be nice to have some siblings to grow up with.

Nanako began to speak, her voice weak from exertion, "I like the name Satoshi for him."

The man next to her seemed pleased with this choice. He also had white hair and blue eyes, though he seemed to be a more appropriate age for such hair color, with many wrinkles across his face and hands. Maybe he was my grandfather in this world, though he quickly turned and began to speak with others in the room. Strangely enough, despite my new body's underdeveloped senses, I could still hear them, somewhat managing to overhear something about a prodigy and a second blessing.

'This world was strange. What kind of family was I born into, some kind of cult?' I wondered, but I wouldn't have much time to think about it as a rather serious-looking old man walked into the room. He was clearly a big deal as the moment he entered, all the chatter in the room stopped suddenly. I didn't like the way he looked at me like he was trying to measure how far he could throw me.

He looked me over and then spoke to the gathered audience. "This is a momentous day for our great clan, as the future has been further secured. This child, along with the Six Eyes wielder, will become the strength of the Gojo. Our path has been set, and the world of Jujutsu will be in awe of the wielder of the Six Eyes and Limitless once again."

His speech was met with applause, which hurt my sensitive ears, causing me to begin to cry, but that wasn't the only reason. Hearing what he was saying, I knew where I was in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. A world in which negative emotions created cursed spirits, and not just that, but I had been born into the Gojo clan, one of the big three families in the world of Jujutsu. In my past life, I had been a fan of the story, so I knew the tragedies and disasters that would happen soon, but before I could think about that, I was being carried away.

My mother was still in bed, now speaking with the other members of the clan, while I was brought to a separate room, confused and upset. I didn't understand why I was being separated until I heard the person carrying me begin to speak. "Look, Satoru-Sama, this is your little brother; he'll support you when you become clan head, so make sure to be a good big brother and keep him safe."

I finally noticed the other young boy in the room; he looked to be somewhere around one, maybe a little older, from what I could remember about infant development in my college nursing classes. This was undoubtedly Satoru Gojo, the future strongest sorcerer who wielded both the Six Eyes and the Limitless techniques, granting him strength that would leave an impact on the King of Curses himself, though in the end, it wouldn't be enough, as in his final battle against Sukuna, he would be caught off guard and cut in half.

I had always been a fan of him as a character; the burden he carried being the strongest meant so many saw him as a weapon to be used and controlled. In fact, the reason he was out here was that after his parents, now our parents, left him after his birth and he was raised by the clan. I knew then I had a reason to be here to change this world. I could prevent the later tragedies, such as Geto falling into despair and the destruction of Shibuya. I would support my new brother and prevent his death.

Satoru looked at me, his eyes were somehow even more blue than any others I had seen so far, they almost seemed to glow. When he looked, I could see in his eyes that he seemed lonely, not having anyone to interact with his age. He reached out and grabbed my little hand, and I used what little strength I had to hold his back.
