Chapter 39 - Chapter Thirty-Nine: A Desperate Counterattack

Su He blushed, gently withdrawing her hand, her eyes darting away from Chen Yang's burning gaze. She whispered, "Silly boy! Stop fooling around... I'm bandaging you!"

Chen Yang chuckled, then leaned back comfortably, enjoying Su He's gentle care. Su He carefully cleaned away the grass and mud from the wound, applied iodine, and then carefully bandaged it with gauze.

"By the way, how's the match going?" Su He asked casually while tidying up her things.

Oh right! The match!

Chen Yang slapped his forehead. He'd been so engrossed in their intimacy that he'd forgotten Han Song and the others were still battling it out on the field! They were now down 1-3!

Chen Yang checked the time. There were about twenty minutes left. He couldn't wait any longer; he had to get on the field! Cao Xiao was his brother; he couldn't just stand by and watch him be humiliated by Hu Tian. Besides, his injury was clearly intentional on Shen Tu Fan's part. To suffer a loss and not seek revenge was not in Young Master Fang's nature!

Thinking this, Chen Yang jumped to his feet and shouted towards the field:

"Boss! Let me play!"

Upon hearing this, Su He immediately tugged at Chen Yang's sleeve, anxiously saying:

"Chen Yang, are you crazy? Your leg is injured like this, and you still want to play? Didn't you see? Shen Tu Fan is deliberately targeting you. What if you get injured again if you go on like this?"

Seeing Su He almost crying, Chen Yang's heart softened for no reason, but he quickly reaffirmed his determination to play. A true man has principles; if he backed down now, he wouldn't be able to get past his own conscience! Thinking of this, Chen Yang patted Su He's shoulder reassuringly and said,

"Silly girl, I'm fine! Those are just superficial injuries, they won't affect my playing time! See for yourself!"

After saying that, Chen Yang stood up and jumped around a few times, looking completely relaxed. Su He looked at Chen Yang with some skepticism, but her personality was rather gentle, and over the past few days, her trust in Chen Yang had grown stronger each day. So, although she still had some doubts, she nodded and said weakly,

"Then you should be careful!"

"Don't worry! Just wait and see the show!" Chen Yang replied with a smile, his gaze falling on Shen Tu Fan on the field, a cold light flashing in his eyes.

Since it wasn't a formal match, there were no restrictions on substitutions before the game, and given that Chen Yang had just been receiving treatment off the field, it was a special case. So, although Shen Tu Fan muttered a few words, the referee ignored him. After the ball went dead, he waved for Chen Yang to enter the game, while substitute Luo Ziqiang went off to rest.

As soon as Chen Yang entered the field, his teammates surrounded him with concern. Han Song patted him on the shoulder and said,

"Brother, don't push yourself too hard! Your health is more important!"

Cao Xiao also said worriedly,

"Yeah, Third Brother! Don't let me cause any more problems with your leg, or I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life!"

Chen Yang smiled nonchalantly and said,

"Cao Xiao, what are you getting sentimental about! I'm perfectly fine, don't curse me!"

After saying that, Chen Yang clapped his hands and shouted,

"Brothers! Cheer up! As long as the final whistle hasn't blown, we can't give up!"

After saying that, Chen Yang ran to his position first. Han Song and Cao Xiao, seeing that Chen Yang's running posture seemed normal, were immediately relieved. With Chen Yang on the court, everyone felt a sense of security.

Hu Tian and Shen Tu Fan were also observing Chen Yang's condition. They exchanged a glance, their eyes lingering on Chen Yang's injured left leg, and a knowing smile appeared on their faces.

The game continued.

Chen Yang ran actively on the court, frequently reaching for the ball, as if his injury had no effect whatsoever. However, only Chen Yang himself knew that every exertion caused a slight pain in his calf, an injury that was still hindering his performance.

As soon as Chen Yang entered the game, the school team immediately reverted to their original tactics, and their defensive actions against him became even more aggressive, sometimes even with three players surrounding him.

Shen Tu Fan, in particular, practically ignored the ball, repeatedly aiming for Chen Yang's left leg with a vicious kick. His intention was clear: to reopen Chen Yang's wound and render him completely unable to play.

Fortunately, Chen Yang had learned his lesson and realized the opponent's dirty intentions. He was now very careful to protect himself, and his quick reflexes prevented him from getting injured again, despite the seemingly perilous situation.

As a result, the atmosphere on the field gradually became tense. Teacher Lu noticed the situation was escalating and frequently blew his whistle to stop the game, issuing verbal warnings to the school team players and showing Hu Tian a yellow card.

However, this had little effect; the school team players continued their reckless behavior. Chen Yang's anger grew. They were really pushing their luck! They thought he was a pushover!

After regaining possession of the ball, Chen Yang didn't pass it immediately but instead observed the situation on the field. As soon as he controlled the ball, Shen Tu Fan and Hu Tian immediately rushed up from the left and right, while another player, number 3, also ran towards him.

Seeing this, Chen Yang gave Cao Xiao a wink. After three years of sharing a dorm, their understanding was quite high, and Cao Xiao immediately understood and passed the ball forward.

Facing the aggressive Hu Tian and Shen Tu Fan, Chen Yang didn't force a breakthrough. Instead, he suddenly launched a long pass. The ball drew a beautiful arc, landing with surgical precision about three meters in front of Cao Xiao, who was sprinting forward. Cao Xiao received the ball comfortably and took a touch forward.

Number 3, who was originally supposed to mark Cao Xiao, had already started running towards Chen Yang to carry out Captain Hu Tian's instructions. By the time he realized the danger and abruptly stopped and turned, Cao Xiao had already broken through his defense.

After passing the ball, Chen Yang smiled at Hu Tian and Shen Tu Fan, a hint of sarcasm in his eyes. "The ball's not even at your feet anymore, let's see how you manage to tackle like that!" he thought. "If you still manage to make a sliding tackle like that, the referee will definitely show you a red card!"

Hu Tian, his face ashen, turned and chased after Cao Xiao, but it was all in the bag. Cao Xiao was already far ahead.

Cao Xiao quickly dribbled into the penalty area. Facing the goalkeeper, he calmly made a feint, then gently pushed the ball towards the far corner of the goal.

The ball wasn't fast, but the goalkeeper had been thrown off balance by the feint and could only watch helplessly as the ball slowly rolled into the net!

2-3!

Cao Xiao was ecstatic after scoring, tearing off his jersey and waving it wildly. He had been suppressing his emotions throughout the match, and in this moment, he finally released everything.

The game restarted, and having witnessed Chen Yang's precise passing, the school team dared not be so careless as to have three players rush towards him every time he received the ball.

Chen Yang immediately felt a significant reduction in pressure.

Ten minutes remained in the game. The score was still 2-3, and the experienced school team had begun to tighten their formation and solidify their defense, aiming to hold onto the score and wait for the game to end.

Chen Yang was secretly anxious and began to participate in the pressing. Hu Tian and Shen Tu Fan passed the ball back and forth in the backfield, and Chen Yang subtly and slowly approached them, like a bloodthirsty wolf, always looking for a killing opportunity.

Attack is always the best defense. The school team's passive defense was bound to make mistakes. Sure enough, when Hu Tian passed the ball to Shen Tu Fan, it was slightly too long!

Chen Yang, who had been waiting patiently, brightened up and sprang forward like a spring.

Shen Tu Fan casually took two steps forward, preparing to receive the slightly off-target pass. Suddenly, he felt a gust of wind brush past his ear, and then he realized with a start that the football in front of him had vanished!

Chen Yang appeared precisely in the passing lane!

Obtaining the ball, Chen Yang immediately took a large step forward and began sprinting. Shen Tu Fan reacted quickly enough; knowing he couldn't catch up, he gritted his teeth and reached out to grab the hem of Chen Yang's shirt, trying to forcibly pull him to the ground.

Chen Yang's eyes were bloodshot. He fiercely shook off Shen Tu Fan. With a "ripping" sound, Chen Yang's Adidas jersey was torn to shreds. Chen Yang strode after the ball and began dribbling towards the penalty area.

Shen Tu Fan stared at the jersey fragments in his hand, gritting his teeth as he watched Chen Yang's retreating figure, lost in thought.

After seeing Chen Yang's interception, Hu Tian didn't hesitate to chase back. Before he could even get into position, Chen Yang was already charging towards him with the ball.

Hu Tian, his face contorted with rage, crouched low and attempted a sliding tackle, trying to bring Chen Yang and the ball to the ground as before.

Unfortunately, his plan failed again. Chen Yang was prepared. Just as Hu Tian tackled, Chen Yang caught up with the ball. This time, instead of dribbling forward, he clamped the ball between his feet, jumped high, and narrowly avoided Hu Tian's tackle.

After landing, Chen Yang didn't hesitate. He took a small step forward, lightly tapped the ball with his right toe, pulled it behind him, then spun around and pulled it back, a perfect "Marseille turn" leaving the last defender, number 3, behind.

Looking at the open penalty area ahead, Chen Yang revealed a cold smile.

He didn't dribble forward again, but instead unleashed a powerful shot from fifteen meters out, the ball flying like an arrow into the top corner of the goal.

Completely unexpectedly, Chen Yang's goalkeeper didn't even attempt a save at this crucial moment, staring blankly as the ball slammed into the net.

3-3!

In just ten minutes, Chen Yang equalized the score with one pass and one save.

Han Song, Cao Xiao, and the others could hardly believe their eyes. Just moments ago they were in dire straits, and now they were on a winning streak—it was like experiencing both extremes!
