Chapter 29 - What Doesn’t Heal

Mira Halwen joined his rotation quietly.

She didn't announce herself. Just appeared beside him during a stabilization run, staff in hand, expression composed.

"I'll keep you standing," she said. "That's all."

Mira wasn't strong in the way people admired. Her healing was precise, conservative—no miracles, no waste. She closed wounds that should close and left the rest alone.

"You don't reset pain," Kael noted after the first run.

She shook her head. "Pain teaches timing. Take it all away and people break faster."

She worked on him anyway.

Bruises lingered now. Hairline fractures took longer to knit. Fatigue stopped clearing overnight.

The system flagged recovery variance.

Mira watched his hands tremble once and said nothing.
