Chapter 359 - TSWH: Chapter 359

Just like the martial arts techniques he had mastered before, the method of harnessing Aura required him to train from the very beginning.

Mastering this power would be no less difficult than the trials he endured when he first started out in the world of Hunter × Hunter. For that reason, Oboro needed plenty of time.

Fortunately, his soul was now far stronger than it had ever been, which would double the speed of his cultivation.

And so, for the time being, Oboro used his current body to practice the Aura‑harnessing technique, preparing himself thoroughly before moving on to the next world.

However, it was not long before his peaceful days were interrupted by an unexpected visitor.

Doma.

Even though human settlements had built high walls to defend against the surging numbers of demons, such barriers meant nothing to a being of Doma's caliber.

He slipped into the town effortlessly and quickly found Oboro's residence.

"Lord Oboro… The time has come."

Doma stepped into Oboro's private quarters with a bright smile, not even bothering to knock first.

His meaning was clear: the final battle between him, Kokushibo, and Muzan was about to begin.

"After all these years, Muzan still hasn't managed to kill you. On the contrary, you've expanded the Paradise Faith into such a massive force. You've done well," Oboro commented calmly, sitting cross‑legged on a cushion as he watched Doma walk in.

Decades had passed since they last met, and Doma had truly been reborn.

Oboro could see the true form of his soul.

This demon had stripped away the souls of every living being he had consumed—human and demon alike—and kept their spiritual remnants sealed within his Sea of Consciousness.

Countless fragments of the departed lingered there like tiny figures, constantly bowing and paying homage to Doma's own soul.

Just as his followers did in the physical world.

It was obvious that Doma could command these captured souls at will. A clear sign that his mastery over soul power had reached an advanced level.

"Lord Muzan is certainly powerful, but his character is easy enough to read… After serving him for so long, I understand him through and through. I can guess exactly what he wants and what he plans to do," Doma said cheerfully, placing a finger to his lips.

"It's not that I am clever… it's just that Lord Muzan never bothers to hide his feelings. He probably never even considered Kokushibo or me as a real threat…"

"It would be more accurate to say… he simply looked down on us."

Even now, after openly rebelling, Doma still referred to Muzan as "Lord."

"These past few years, once he realized he could not eliminate us, he rarely showed himself anymore… I imagine he must have been deepening his understanding of soul power."

Doma chuckled to himself. "As expected of Lord Muzan. Even finding him took quite a bit of effort on my part."

"When?" Oboro asked directly.

"In ten days' time. At Ueno."

"I see."

Oboro nodded.

Before he departed this world, he absolutely had to witness this battle.

Beyond collecting resources and creating new ability cards, the most important reason was to observe the culmination of the Will of Inheritance he had set in motion.

Muzan could have hidden within the Infinity Castle forever, but he already knew it would do him no good—not as long as Oboro existed.

As the unseen hand guiding the fates of so many, Oboro would never let him escape once the time came.

And so Muzan understood as well: running was pointless. His only choice was to fight and emerge as the final victor.

As the progenitor of all demons, he believed that even Doma and Kokushibo—though they now wielded soul power—were still not worth his full attention.

But Doma was far from foolish.

He knew that just he and Kokushibo alone would never be enough to defeat Muzan.

Which was exactly why he had deliberately spread word of the coming battle far and wide.

He intended to let others do the dangerous work, while he himself reaped the rewards.

The more chaotic the battlefield became, the better for him.

Both sides would move exactly as Oboro had arranged.

Oboro had spared Muzan's life in the Infinity Castle and let him live until now—and Doma had long since understood the true purpose behind that decision.

Since Doma had come all this way, Oboro saw no need to question him further.

"Is there something else?" Oboro raised an eyebrow, noticing that Doma showed no sign of leaving.

"If I happen to be the one standing victorious in the end… would you grant me one personal request?" Doma asked suddenly, his eyes gleaming with strange excitement.

"And what would that be?"

"Let me… become your sole successor."

A faint flush rose on Doma's pale face.

A successor—an existence similar to the Inheritors, yet fundamentally different.

And the word "sole" made his intentions clear: once Muzan was gone, Doma would hunt down and kill every other Inheritor.

He wanted all the power Oboro had bestowed upon this world for himself alone.

He wanted to understand Oboro completely. Unlike the complicated feelings he held toward Muzan, Oboro appeared to Doma as a being of absolute perfection.

A masterpiece crafted by the heavens themselves.

Over the years, Doma had discovered that the power of the soul brought him far greater joy than anything he had ever gained from Muzan's blood.

"Survive first, and then we shall speak of it," Oboro replied flatly, meeting his unsettling gaze.

Doma smiled and said nothing more. He bowed respectfully before turning and taking his leave.

A great war that would decide the future of this world was fast approaching.

It also marked the end of Oboro's journey through his second world.

Compared to the Will of Self he had followed in Hunter × Hunter, the Will of Inheritance he had experimented with here felt somewhat lacking.

Perhaps because of the influence of his previous life, Oboro realized that this path did not suit him as well.

To truly embrace the Will of Inheritance, one had to first recognize its beauty, be touched by its light, and let it become part of one's own existence.

Yet before arriving in Demon Slayer, Oboro had never truly understood what the concept meant.

It was only after meeting figures such as Ichiro and Toshiro, witnessing the dedication of the Ubuyashiki clan, watching the rise of the Inheritors, and seeing the achievements of the Demon Slayers and the Kamado family in Aura cultivation that the true meaning slowly dawned on him.

These experiences left a deep impression in his heart and gave him new insights, elevating his soul and his understanding to a higher level.

Still, Oboro found that the Will of Inheritance was deeply bound to fate, relying heavily on one's origins and life experiences.

For someone like him—a traveler from beyond the boundaries of worlds—standing as its bearer or source felt unstable and unconvincing.

Ultimately, this supreme will was not a perfect fit for him.

If Demon Slayer had been his first destination, and he had started as an ordinary person living through the story, perhaps he could have merged with it completely—joining the Demon Slayer Corps, rising to become a Hashira, and truly carrying the weight of inheritance.

But at the same time, this was a low‑level world. With his natural strength, there was no room for him to grow step by step; he could not progress naturally through each stage. The mark left upon his soul from Hunter × Hunter could never be erased.

That was why Oboro regarded this world as nothing more than a refueling station along his path.

Furthermore, even though the Will of Inheritance was important, it was not his only goal.

He had also come seeking resources, the evolution of his various techniques, and the chance to strengthen his own foundation. He could not devote himself entirely to one single purpose.

If he were to grade his experience here, even without the system's judgment, Oboro would have given himself a failing mark.

Yet it was not without its gains.

His soul had grown stronger and more refined, and he truly understood the weight and responsibility behind the word "inheritance."

His system had also become more capable, gaining several new functions. Had he applied himself fully, he might have completed its development to a far greater degree.

"Still… seeing the depth of human emotions and bonds in this world, something so different from the cold reality of Hunter × Hunter, has shown me a side of life I always overlooked," Oboro murmured, smiling bitterly.

"Though from a certain perspective, everything I have done here is undeniably tied to bloodshed and sin."

But there was no other way. Without these actions, he would never have gained the strength needed to survive his next journey.

And more than anything… he longed to return to Hunter × Hunter.

Now, he finally understood the words spoken long ago by the Divine Tree Spirit of the Dark Continent.

All supreme wills—whether they were the Will of Self or the Will of Inheritance—when taken to their absolute peak, connected to something far greater and more mysterious.

And that something was… Miracles. Will alone could create miracles.

And miracles were the ultimate force capable of overturning every law, every fate, and every limitation—far more powerful than rules, energy, or even the soul itself.
