Chapter 355 - TSWH: Chapter 355

Oboro had moved far ahead of Tanjiro's timeline from the original story, becoming the new Demon King long before fate had intended.

Only…

"This power of flesh and blood…"

After putting some distance between himself and Muzan, Oboro sensed his brand‑new body and smiled faintly.

Physically speaking, it far surpassed that of most beings in the world of Hunter × Hunter.

Yet even so… it was still too weak.

Against pure physical force alone, this body probably could not withstand even a single strike from the Hundred-Type Guanyin.

With the scale of Nen emitted by someone like Zeno, it could be completely annihilated in an instant—not a single cell remaining.

And that was without mentioning the countless other Nen abilities that could simply ignore all laws of reality.

Of course, the key difference lay in the fact that Hunter × Hunter had "Nen" as its fundamental source of power, while Demon Slayer had nothing comparable.

Nevertheless, within the boundaries of this world, Oboro's new form stood firmly at the absolute peak.

His attributes had been enhanced somewhat, though not to an absurd extent. The greatest advantage of his new existence as Demon King was that he had finally conquered sunlight.

In terms of vitality, as long as even one cell remained intact, he could regenerate completely in the blink of an eye.

It sounded monstrous, but it all depended on the opponent and the environment. In higher‑level worlds, there were countless ways to make a being vanish into nothingness in a split second.

His current state reminded Oboro of a character from another series—

The Ultimate Life Form from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Kars, who had also attained near‑invincibility and immortality, only to end up stranded in outer space, frozen into a mineral‑like statue.

Furthermore, his current regenerative capacity had only reached this level because it had evolved alongside Muzan's own growing strength.

If it had been Tanjiro who later became the Demon King, he would never have reached such an extreme degree of regeneration down to the cellular level—only immunity to sunlight and Nichirin Blades.

As for Doma and Kokushibo…

Oboro had merely freed them from Muzan's control; he had not passed down his own will or authority to them.

But the conflict between them and Muzan was now irreconcilable.

A final battle between them was inevitable.

"It is nearly done… There is nothing more for me to do. Now all I can do is wait for the seeds I have planted to bloom and bear fruit."

Oboro smiled gently as he walked forward into the rays of the rising sun.

With his perception, he could sense that the Will of this world—once only a small sapling—had now grown tall, strong, and sturdy.

Its once‑withered branches and leaves had turned lush and vibrant green once more.

The next and final step… was for it to bear fruit.

This was the absolute limit of what he could achieve.

He had helped the "Little Tree" regrow and flourish to such heights.

If it were to grow any taller, it would break through the "roof"—the barrier separating dimensions—and besides, Oboro no longer possessed the power to push it further.

The protective barrier surrounding the tree represented the upper limit of Demon Slayer's potential; it could not grow any higher.

If the dimensional barrier were shattered, the entire world would crumble and vanish—it would effectively cease to exist.

Even with his assistance, while the world's future power system would be completely renewed and cross the threshold into becoming a higher‑level realm, it would likely rank among the lowest within that category.

There was simply no comparison with the world of Hunter × Hunter.

Even among higher‑level worlds, Hunter × Hunter stood near the very top.

Not because of its Nen system or its human civilization, but simply because it contained the Dark Continent.

Combining his own experiences with his observations of this world's Will, Oboro could only conclude that Hunter × Hunter had already reached the standard of the highest tier of dimensions.

What defined such a supreme dimension?

The most famous example was Dragon Ball.

In that reality, entire planets and civilizations could be destroyed with a mere flick of the finger.

To powerful beings from that universe, worlds like Hunter × Hunter could be erased completely with a single attack.

Yet Hunter × Hunter had its own strength—its power system was far more complex and intricate.

There existed entities and forces there that could not be killed by conventional means. Often, overwhelming energy was not the deadliest threat to them at all.

This was especially true when it came to rules and laws…

But in the end, power and rules were always relative. Even the strongest laws would shatter when confronted with forces too vast to endure.

So ultimately… Hunter × Hunter could never compare to Dragon Ball. It was just a point of comparison Oboro drew for himself.

Among worlds of the highest order, there were many weaker than Dragon Ball.

Hunter × Hunter, after all, was only a higher‑level world—standing just on the edge of the supreme dimensions, but not yet counted among them.

---

Before the fall of the Shogunate, Oboro had made arrangements and accumulated enough wealth to last him comfortably for centuries.

Even though he no longer involved himself in matters of power and politics, he could still live a life of luxury in the mortal world.

He chose not to return to the Red‑Light District. Instead, after many long years, he changed his appearance and settled once more in the town at the foot of Mount Kumotori.

By now, the town had flourished greatly—its borders expanded, its population grown, and its architecture taking on styles distinct from the Edo period.

The chaos and unrest of the late Edo era had long passed. Though demons still roamed freely, a certain "unspoken understanding" had formed between them and humanity. With the dawn of the more democratic Taishō era, an entirely new age had begun.

Oboro purchased a new residence.

His old home from centuries ago had long since crumbled into ruins.

He hired servants and began a quiet life of seclusion.

The next day, Oboro climbed Mount Kumotori alone.

The home of the Kamado family.

Everything felt so familiar…

Standing in its original place in a clearing deep within the forest was the same house—though it had clearly been renovated and restored recently.

As Oboro arrived, he saw a man chopping wood and tending to a fire, while a woman nearby hung laundry out to dry.

The man wore the familiar pair of Nichirin earrings, and both his eyes and hair held a distinct deep red hue.

Undoubtedly, he was a direct descendant of the Kamado lineage.

"Excuse me…"

Even before Oboro reached the path leading to the house, the man had already turned his gaze toward him.

His senses were sharp as ever.

It was summer—not the season for selling charcoal. As Oboro had heard from Kamado Sora in the past, this time of year was better spent gathering wild herbs or cutting firewood to sell instead.

Wiping the sweat from his forehead, the man greeted him with a warm and hospitable smile, assuming Oboro must have lost his way in the mountains.

But when he looked closely at Oboro's face and clothing, his expression froze in shock.

"May I ask your name?" Oboro asked gently with a smile.

"A black haori… How is this possible?!" the man stammered, his eyes wide.

He owned the exact same garment—an heirloom passed down through his family. He also knew the story behind this uniquely woven haori.

Centuries ago, it had been gifted to the Kamado family by a great figure named Oboro.

His ancestors had even carved a wooden statue preserving the likeness of that legendary benefactor.

"I… I am Kamado Kanero."

The man swallowed hard.

Oboro could clearly see the familiar features of Kamado Sora and Kamado Kiyoshi in his face—though Kanero himself was sturdier and heavier set, no longer gaunt or frail, and without the sickly pallor that had plagued his forefathers.

He wore a short‑cut head of hair wrapped beneath a simple linen cloth.

"Are you…?" Kamado Kanero began, but hesitated to finish his question.

Oboro knew exactly what he wanted to ask.

Just as he was about to reply—

In the next instant, the man, who had been uncertain only moments before, narrowed his eyes sharply, fixed his gaze firmly on Oboro, and his expression hardened completely.

He raised the axe in his hand and pointed it directly at Oboro, speaking with unwavering resolve: "You are not Lord Oboro!"

"What exactly… are you?!"

"Oh?"

Oboro let out a light laugh, genuinely surprised.

"You actually noticed… It seems my decision all those years ago to help your family refine and improve the Sun Breathing technique was indeed the right one."
