The next day, Miya, with mixed feelings, walked toward the classroom. She thought about meeting Roni and asking for an explanation regarding a girl named Ayu in his village. With weak steps, she walked to the class, assuming that Roni would be there, because she did not yet know the news that Roni was currently in a coma at the hospital.
When she arrived in class, the first person she looked for was Roni, but she did not see him there at all.
"Hasn't he arrived yet? Isn't there an important class today? He shouldn't be late," Miya muttered while sitting at her desk, right beside the desk usually occupied by Roni.
Time passed until the lesson ended, but Roni still did not appear. "Seriously, he didn't come today? I need an explanation from him," she said annoyed as she stood up to leave the class because it was already over.
She chose to sit in the garden. It felt very lonely, like before she knew Roni, because only today she was alone without Roni who always accompanied her on campus.
"Did something happen last night? But I heard he won the fight, so why did he skip today?" she thought.
Unable to bear it anymore, she decided to skip the next class and intended to meet Roni at his boarding house. However, when she arrived there, she saw Roni's room was locked.
"Where did he actually go?" she said, starting to panic because she thought Roni had gone back to his village.
"Oh my God, don't tell me he went back to the village," she said with a gloomy face, sitting on the chair in front of Roni's room.
"Hi, Miss. You're the one from before, right? What was your name again, I forgot?" Bayu suddenly approached Miya because he saw her sitting in front of Roni's room when he came out of his own room.
"Yes… you're Roni's friend, right? By the way, do you know where Roni is? He didn't come to campus either," Miya asked Bayu.
"Roni… uh… I don't know, Miss. Usually if there's a class schedule he never skips, or maybe something happened," said Bayu, who also did not yet know the news about Roni.
"What if he went back to the village? But why didn't he tell me?" Miya said, starting to feel sad and disappointed. She thought Roni had forgotten her and left without saying goodbye.
"That's impossible, Miss. Roni would definitely inform us if he went back to the village. As far as I know, he'll go back at the end of the season, and that's still a long time from now. Have you tried looking for him at his workplace?" Bayu asked.
"I have. I called the people there earlier, but no one saw Roni," Miya said.
"Whoa, what's going on? Bayu, is she your girlfriend? She's very beautiful," said a boarding house resident who happened to pass by, greeting Bayu and thinking Miya was his girlfriend.
"No, no. She's Roni's friend. She came here looking for Roni, don't misunderstand," Bayu said, brushing off the comment.
"Roni… so you guys don't know that last night Roni was taken to the hospital? I don't know how his condition is now. You should try going there," the man said. He knew about it because last night he saw Ms. Maya asking for help after seeing Roni lying unconscious in front of the gate.
"What? At the hospital? Are you serious?" Bayu said in disbelief. Because last night Roni was fine when he won the fight.
Meanwhile, Miya, after hearing that news, immediately went to the hospital with a panicked and worried face.
"Wait, Miss. You're going to the hospital, right? May I come along? I also want to know his condition," Bayu said, wanting to go with Miya to the hospital.
"Yes," Miya said, and they went together.
"Are you serious that Roni was fine last night? Then why was he taken to the hospital?" Miya asked Bayu, who was indeed there last night.
"Yes, Miss, I'm serious. Roni was fine. Even though he was cornered and beaten, he didn't look tired or in pain. In fact, he still looked fresh," Bayu answered, explaining what he knew about Roni last night.
"I already told him not to take part in that stupid game. I shouldn't have let him join. This is all because of that bastard!" Miya said, driving the car very fast until she ran through several red lights.
"Miss… slow down, Miss. If it's like this, we won't make it," Bayu said in a panicked voice, gripping the passenger seat tightly.
Meanwhile, in the quiet hospital room filled with the smell of medicine, Roni lay helpless on his bed. Only the sound of the monitor machine could be heard continuously beeping.
Ms. Maya was still holding Roni's hand, hoping Roni would wake up soon. Since last night, Ms. Maya had not left the room at all. She kept watching over Roni, waiting for the moment he opened his eyes.
Suddenly, the sound of the door opening made Ms. Maya turn her head. She saw two young people enter, Bayu and Miya, who had obtained information about the room where Roni was being treated.
"Don't you know this is an emergency room? Just barging in! Get out now!" Ms. Maya said, shooing them away. But Miya did not move at all, her eyes fixed on Roni lying weakly there.
Her heart shattered instantly. The person who was always cheerful, whom she always forced to accompany her on outings, was now lying weak and helpless.
"Sorry, Miss, but we want to know Roni's condition. We really don't know what happened to him," Bayu said.
"Come out first. You're not allowed to be noisy inside," Ms. Maya said while pulling both of them outside.
After closing the door of Roni's room again, Ms. Maya looked at Miya. She wondered who the woman in front of her was. "Is she the woman from that time?" she muttered.
"Come on, Miss, tell us, what happened to Roni?" Bayu asked impatiently.
"Calm down first. Roni is fine. He's just in a coma. Something dangerous damaged his internal organs, but the doctors have handled it. So now we're just waiting for him to regain consciousness," Ms. Maya explained.
"You tell me to calm down? How can I be calm seeing him like that! Move, I want to see him!" Miya said, trying to go back inside. However, her hand was pulled by Ms. Maya, who would not let her enter.
"Don't block me! He's my lover, so I have the right to see him," Miya said while shaking off Ms. Maya's hand.
"Oh, so you are that woman? Listen, ever since knowing you, Roni has been going out at night more often. He was never like this before, and now…"
"And now what, huh? What's your problem with me? Who do you think you are? Let go of me! I want to see my boyfriend!"
"Hey, hey… wait. Why are you arguing? This is a hospital! It's embarrassing if people see. How about this, take turns going in, okay?" Bayu said, separating them as they pulled at each other.
Miya immediately pulled her hand away and went inside. Ms. Maya was irritated by her. She did not like a stubborn woman like Miya.
"Miss, that's enough, calm down. Poor Roni, he's sick, and you're arguing instead," Bayu said, trying to calm Ms. Maya whose face was red with anger.
"Be quiet! You don't know anything!" Ms. Maya said angrily.
"Well, now I'm the one being scolded. Or could it be that you're jealous?" Bayu said while pointing at Ms. Maya's face.
"I said be quiet! And why did you even bring that woman here? She just causes trouble," Ms. Maya said.
"Even if I didn't bring her, she would have come by herself anyway. Besides, it's not a problem if she comes, as long as you don't argue like earlier. Geez, like children," Bayu said, making Ms. Maya glare at him. Bayu could only lower his head.
Inside the room, Miya began to cry while calling Roni's name, hoping Roni could hear her.
"Roni… forgive me. I should have come last night to accompany you. You might not be like this. Why were you careless? You said you would be fine when I forbade you from going there, but now you're like this, Roni… sob…" Miya kept crying while holding Roni's hand, which felt slightly warm.
"Miss, earlier you said Roni was poisoned, right? Could it be from the drinking water given by that young man last night?" Bayu said, recalling last night's incident. He had seen Roni drink from a bottle of water after the fight ended.
"Do you know the person?" Ms. Maya asked.
"No, Miss. I only saw his face briefly. I didn't pay much attention," Bayu answered, trying to remember the young man's face.
"A fight? What fight? So Roni joined a fight?" Ms. Maya asked, completely unaware of it. In her heart, she blamed herself for deciding to distance herself from Roni.
"It was a street fight. I don't know why Roni was there and even joined the fight. When I asked him, he just said he was curious and wanted to join. It's strange, because Roni never did things like that before," Bayu explained.
"See! Ever since knowing that woman, he's become like this. It must have something to do with her!" Ms. Maya said, immediately blaming Miya.
"Hey, Miss, didn't we agree to go in alternately?" Bayu said, stopping Ms. Maya who was about to enter Roni's room.
"I'm afraid that woman will do something!" Ms. Maya said while opening the door and entering.
Inside, she saw Miya kissing Roni's hand, which instantly made her jealous and dislike Roni being touched by her.
"What are you doing?! Let him go!" Ms. Maya shouted.
"What's the problem? He's my boyfriend. I can do whatever I want," Miya replied, shocked because Ms. Maya suddenly entered and disturbed her.
Good grief, they were arguing there. How nice it must be to be Roni, fought over by beautiful women like that. When will I ever be like that? Bayu thought while shaking his head.
"I am a doctor. I'm the one handling Roni. Therefore, I forbid you! Patients must not be touched carelessly in conditions like this," Ms. Maya said, using her status as a doctor.
"Is she really a doctor?" Miya asked Bayu, who was standing at the door.
"Yes, that's right, Miss," Bayu answered with a smile.
"Alright, please take good care of my future husband. I'm going home to inform Papa about this," Miya said as she stood up and walked away. She planned to tell her father and find a professional doctor so Roni could recover soon.
"Go away, damn it!" Ms. Maya said while wiping Roni's hand that had previously been held by Miya.
"Huh, then why are you holding it yourself?" Bayu asked when he saw her.
Ms. Maya, startled, immediately looked for an excuse. "I'm a doctor. I'm cleaning the patient's hand so it doesn't get infected by anything from that woman's touch. Now, you should go out, or better yet go home. I want to examine the patient," Ms. Maya said.
Bayu didn't dare reply, even though he knew Ms. Maya's true intention. Who told me to rent a room at Ms. Maya's place? If I talk back, the monthly rent might be raised, he thought.
Bayu then left. At that moment, Ms. Maya immediately kissed Roni's hand and sat back down beside him.
The sky grew darker, accompanied by strong winds that made birds fly around with their chirping. All of it signaled that rain would soon fall. In Roni's village, this kind of atmosphere was always a sign that rain was about to come.
However, inside a room in a house belonging to a family thirsty for wealth, the sound of a woman screaming was heard. It was Ayu, screaming for help. She knew her parents were downstairs, but for some reason they seemed to let Reza enter her room just like that.
"No need to scream, dear. No one will come in here. You are mine, and your family has already approved this," Reza said while touching Ayu, who kept trying to reject his touch.
Ayu's parents had indeed been promised abundant wealth by Reza, as long as they handed Ayu over to him. However, because Ayu kept refusing, Reza decided to force himself on her. According to him, maybe in that way Ayu would submit. Tragically, Ayu's parents agreed to Reza's plan and deliberately ignored the cries for help coming from their daughter's room.
"Let me go! I don't want to!" Ayu screamed, begging for help.
"It's useless, Ayu. Even your parents have allowed me. So there's no reason for you to refuse, dear. Come on, accept it," Reza said with a tone full of satisfaction.
Ayu felt deeply disappointed in her parents. They were willing to sell their own child for wealth, without thinking about her feelings.
Even though Ayu kept trying to resist, her strength was gradually drained. In the end, she could only surrender. In her heart, she thought that this might indeed be her fate. While crying, Ayu could only give in to the situation.
Reza, seeing Ayu no longer resisting, became even happier. He took off his clothes until not a single piece remained, then began to caress Ayu while kissing her neck. Ayu closed her eyes, trying hard to restrain herself so she would not react.
Reza tried to kiss Ayu's chest, but Ayu continued to reject him. That rejection made Reza angry. Roughly, he tore Ayu's clothes until her body was clearly visible, leaving only her underwear.
Ayu reflexively covered her body with both hands, desperately trying so that Reza could not touch her.
"Brother Roni, Ayu has promised to keep this body only for you. But it seems Ayu cannot keep that promise, Brother. Even Ayu's own parents do not support Ayu in maintaining this promise. Forgive Ayu, Brother, forgive Ayu. After this, Ayu may no longer be able to bear the shame before you. Ayu has always loved you, forever. But now Ayu will soon be defiled by a man Ayu does not like at all…"
Those words crossed Ayu's mind as she cried. She kept trying to cover her body so it would not be touched by Reza.
Seeing Ayu resist again, Reza became furious. "Fine, if this is what you want, Ayu. I'll do it the rough way," he said angrily. He then pulled the underwear Ayu was wearing.
