"My mother will scold me." Alina chuckled while leading Severine to where her car was parked.
The moon in the sky appeared alone amidst the sparkling stars. Alone and the brightest.
Alina shifted her gaze to Severine, thinking that they were kind of the same.
"It's all your fault for buying so much, you know. I feel like I am taking advantage of you."
Although the couple didn't say much in front of Severine, they had hesitated when the pile of gifts landed on their table.
If not for Alina's subtle nod, they would have refused on the spot.
"I can't come empty-handed."
This was a basic courtesy, and Severine had no wish to break it.
"You can. We don't care about the rules you have to follow in your circle. So, yes, Severine, you can come empty-handed. You can come whenever you feel like it."

Severine found herself tongue-tied.
