Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 – When Will We Have a Little Baby?

Charlie didn't feel as if he and Kate were on the same page again.

Although Kate's words had warmed his heart and touched him, all he could focus on was her asking for a baby.

It might be because she was getting older.

Unconsciously, Charlie found himself asking, "So… when do you think we'll want our own little baby?"

Hearing this sentence, Kate froze instantly upon hearing it.

"Huh…?"

At a visibly palpable speed, Kate's face flushed red.

She was so red, it seemed as if she was dripping blood.

Charlie had to build up a lot of confidence to ask about this particular subject. Now that he had used his courage to talk about the topic, he wouldn't back down.

"I said, when will we have a little baby?" Charlie asked again.

Kate began to bite her lip. She was extremely shy, and her appearance was very captivating to watch.

Her lips were just about to part and answer Charlie but suddenly, a piercing horn sound came from behind them.

It was a van.

The driver was staring at the man and woman in the Maserati in front of him.

He was so angry, he honked his horn twice more.

"Damn!" Charlie thought.

He was truly annoyed.

It always seemed like luxury cars came equipped with a beautiful woman.

The two people in the Maserati in front of him were showing each other full of loving gestures.

This was kind of ruining the intimate scene he couldn't handle.

Again, the driver hammered the horn.

...

It was Friday night.

Charlie was about to go out and buy food.

But before he did, he ran into a high school girl wearing a school bag.

The middle school student passing Charlie poked her head into the room, looked around, and in a low voice asked, "Your wife isn't here, right?"

The high school girl was Charlie's cousin.

Since his parents' divorce, Charlie hadn't been in much contact with his relatives on his mother's side.

Except for his cousin Kenzie Reeves.

Kenzie had been obsessed with games since she was young. And after meeting Charlie, because of their shared interest, she developed a good relationship with him.

Charlie asked, "Why do you always have to look like you're doing something wrong every time you come?"

Kenzie dared to take a big step and entered the room once she could confirm Kate's absence.

She put down her school bag and took off her jacket.

Her white shirt outlined bunny-like shapes that were starting to develop.

"Of course, I'm confused. Cousin, you are the leech. You're the one who has been letting your wife take care of you. If I came here casually, how embarrassing would that be?"

Kenzie was very blunt about Charlie's situation.

She admired her cousin and the wife he had, and the love they shared.

One of them dared to leech and have a carefree life for two years.

One of them dared to raise that leech, continuing to raise them for two years.

If it were her, having a husband like Charlie who happily leeched for two full years, she wouldn't know.

It would stink too much.

Charlie was speechless.

"Next time if you decide to come here and act arrogant with me, I suggest you don't sneak in. Otherwise, it could really cause misunderstandings. It could lead to big trouble," he told her.

"Okay."

Kenzie agreed.

But she actually didn't feel that way.

Her cousin was handsome, and he played games very well.

He was definitely leader material.

But he didn't earn money to support his family. All this time he lived the life of a leech.

He was as good as he was bad, a balance, but the constant contradiction always made it hard for her to sincerely evaluate him.

Although being Charlie's cousin, she didn't have the confidence to meet his wife Kate.

Kenzie eventually couldn't help but say, "Cousin, you are so good at playing games. If you helped someone as a coach, you shouldn't need your wife to support you."

Charlie answered, "I became a leech for a reason. Only the day before yesterday, I got more than a billion dollars. From now on, never again will my wife have to support me."

Kenzie felt as if she had just heard the funniest joke in the world.

Her cousin, who had been freeloading off others for the past two years, now suddenly claimed to have gotten a billion dollars?

Was that supposed to be some kind of joke?

Kenzie pretended to believe him, so she lazily responded, "Okay, cousin. You got a billion dollars. Can you send me a few bags of cat food? Little Orange has no cat food to eat at home."

Little Orange was Kenzie's orange cat.

The cat wasn't as little as its name suggested.

It was very fat, almost the size of a pig.

"Fine. I was going out to buy food anyway, so let's go together," Charlie answered.

Kenzie was shocked. It felt like she had just witnessed a world miracle.

"Oh my God. You're really going to go out to buy food? Are you going to cook for your wife, by any chance?"

"Well, yes." Charlie was somewhat confused.

Kenzie gave him a thumbs up and said, "Cousin, you're quite something. It's very entertaining to know you're making a change."

Charlie felt as if Kenzie was praising a three-year-old.

Although his behavior the past two years was a bit outrageous, it was all done for a reason.

He had to complete the system's test…

Charlie wasn't the type of man who liked to leech.

If he could be rich himself, he wouldn't have a problem standing beside a rich woman.

They arrived at the pet store.

Charlie accompanied Kenzie to the shelves.

They circled around the entire store.

Finally, they found the most expensive royal cat food.

One bag of the stuff cost ten thousand of the soft sister's coins.

Charlie decided to get it.

It was just in time to make another profit, too.

So, he picked up the royal cat food and turned to face Kenzie. He said, "Just buy this."

Kenzie's whole body tensed in shock.

Her brain buzzed.

Mother of G*d!

This was royal cat food. Each bag cost ten thousand dollars!

Had Charlie lost his sanity?

Kenzie had to stop him. She pleaded, "Charlie, you're not just my cousin. You're already like a brother to me. But I beg you, don't make a scene, okay? With so many people here, it would be too embarrassing for you to walk to the cashier and realize you don't have enough money to pay."

Charlie said, "You're panicking like a woodpecker. I already said I'd take you here and buy you something, didn't I?"

Kenzie almost broke down to plead with Charlie.

Panic?

Could she avoid panicking?

Charlie had been taken care of by his wife for the past two years.

He never earned a single penny.

Now, suddenly, he wanted to buy her a bag of royal cat food worth ten thousand dollars. Even a ghost wouldn't believe that was possible.

If he was unable to pay for it, shame would torment. Imagining that scene alone made her skin crawl.

However, no matter what Kenzie said, Charlie still insisted on buying the royal cat food.

He went to the cashier and said to the clerk, "How much royal cat food do you have in your store?"

The cashier girl was startled.

Then, she booted up the computer and checked her inventory.

"Well, Sir, I can confirm we have a total of one hundred and fifty bags of royal cat food."

"May I ask how much you want…?" The cashier girl asked hesitantly, a little confused.

Charlie told her directly, "One hundred and fifty bags, huh? I'll take all of them."

"What… what?"

The cashier girl couldn't believe her ears.

Kenzie, on the other hand, felt as if she would have a heart attack.

She wondered if he even had a total of ten thousand dollars.

It was impossible to bear the pain of this proposed scenario. One doesn't just walk in, planning to buy all the royal cat food.

What would be the result later?

Charlie said he wanted the entire supply.

That b*stard cousin.

Did he want her to die of humiliation?

One hundred and fifty bags of royal cat food would cost one and a half million!

One and a half million dollars, even if the store was willing to sell that much cat food, they didn't have that much money on them.

Kenzie took a deep breath and stepped back. She tried her best to force herself to stay calm. She patted Charlie and struggled to squeeze out a smile.

"Charlie, this isn't right. Please, just let this go. I promise I won't cheat next time I play a game against you, okay?" Kenzie said.

Charlie said to her, "We can play the game later. Just wait a moment; I'm buying one hundred and fifty bags of royal cat food."
