By the time Cynthia was done with her status it was already night time. She decided to look around the cave to make sure it was safe before resting there for the night. She stumbled upon some eggs. one of which was broken open and she figured that must have been where the little spider came from. She destroyed one and ate the contents hoping for a little bonus but nothing changed in the system. "Do I need to kill and eat creatures with sentience to actually gain power?" Thought Cynthia. With this new realization she decided to keep an eye on the eggs and wait for them to hatch. with how dangerous her fight with the accursed spider turned out to be she thought of even turning one into a servant to test out how that facet of the system works. With that she went to sleep. It was fairly easy since she was exhausted and her stomach was full, both of which happened because of the fight. Morning came rather quickly and Cynthia knew it hadn't been more than 4 hours since she fell asleep. "Are nights in this world really so much shorter?" She murmured to herself. "It seems I don't need as much sleep as before either" she thought as she realized she was actually very well rested. She checked on the eggs and found one to be open and the contents missing. Learning from her carelessness with the first spider she was on guard. She then heard scurrying above her and once again something dropped onto her from above. fortunately this one was far less agile and she was far more prepared. She shook it off and flung it in front of her making sure to block the path to the cave entrance so it didn't run. Then a blue window popped open. "You have encountered a non-sentient beast. You will not gain any power from killing and eating it. You may subjugate it as your servant.". Then yet another blue window popped up. "Tip: You may make any non-sentient creature into your subordinate. If the creature has sentience though you will need to make it recognize you as its master before it will be recognized as a subordinate by the system.". "Might as well give it a shot" she thought. Just as she finished that thought a white screen opened. "You have targeted a baby human face spider as a subordinate. As the creature has not attained sentience the process will complete momentarily.". Then another white window opened. "Subjugation complete! Establishing a connection.". Then almost directly after yet another white window opened. "Connection complete. You may now view your new subordinate's status". Just as this window popped up Cynthia could feel the baby spider's thoughts if she focused on it and could somehow feel what abilities it held. "All the thoughts feel like background noise. Like it isn't consciously thinking but could still consider and consult its instincts" she thought. She thought it was a rather odd feeling but shrugged it off. Cynthia then tried giving it an order. She opened her mouth to say "jump!" but before she could say a thing it did so on its own. As if her will was explicit to the little spider. She then thought of examining the spider's stats and once again the system was extraordinarily easy to use and opened just at the first thought. A blue window a bit smaller than her own stat window but still far larger than the notifications opened.

"Damn! It's really weak! Although the difference in the amount of dexterity compared to other stats makes a lot of sense given how fast the older one was." Cynthia thought "I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a newborn. I bet it's more deadly than a human child though by a large margin.". As she thought this her stomach started growling. "Shit, did I really metabolize all that so quickly?" She thought rather panicked. "Damn, I guess I gotta go find something to hunt again…" Cynthia lamented. She then exited the cave and walked into the forest to find some prey. After a few hours of searching she was starting to lose hope. It was only when she was about to give up and eat something without sentience that she spotted something through some bushes she was lurking in. in a very small clearing she saw a beast with the head and wings of an eagle, the body of a lion, and a snake for a tail. It was fairly small. About one and a half times Cynthia's size It looked like it was definitely not fully grown yet. As she was observing the beast a black notification popped up from the system. "You have encountered a sentient beast! It is a juvenile chimera.". "Hold up…" Thought Cynthia "Aren't chimeras with these specific body parts known as European mythology creatures? White tigers and human face spiders are creatures from Asian mythology. Why would I find this kind of chimera here?". "Well it doesn't really matter, it's going to be my breakfast anyway!" She thought even though it had been quite a number of hours since she woke up. She then willed the spider to climb a nearby tree to ambush the chimera. Giving the mental order the spider dropped down on the chimera. While it was in a clearing the trees were still close enough that the spider could jump from one and still land on the chimera. As soon as the spider bit into the chimera, the snake tail lashed out at the spider. The spider blocked with one of its legs but the snake simply ripped it off and prepared to strike again. Just as the snake was about to strike again Cynthia pounced from the shadowy bushes and bit into the tail. A black window popped up. "You have ingested the venom of a blood viper. All your wounds will bleed more!". Quickly dismissing the window Cynthia reconsidered how smart of a plan biting the snake tail was. Before she had the chance to regret her decision though the chimera slashed at her with its claws. Cynthia, being intimately reminded of the injury she sustained the day before, jumped back but winced at the pain as she put too much weight on her front leg. Thankfully though the chimeras movement started turning sluggish as it was affected by the paralytic poison from both the baby spider and Cynthia. "Now all I need to do is employ hit and run tactics!" Cynthia thought to herself as she ran away. The baby spider, fully understanding the plan because of the connection, also ran away. Even though the spider was missing a leg, it had plenty more and since the chimera was stiffening up, the spider got away rather easily. Cynthia and the spider ran into the forest. After the chimera gave chase it eventually collapsed because the paralytic venom spread to its whole body. The baby spider and Cynthia came back and started eating. During the process of eating the chimera Cynthia discovered what looked to be a small pearl about half a centimeter in diameter near the chimera's stomach and she thought back to one of the system messages she got after eating the juvenile spider. "The system said it was creating a beast pearl and the pain was in the same area…" Cynthia thought. "If the system made it from energy, maybe this one contains the chimera's energy." she reasoned. She popped it into her mouth and then swallowed, bracing herself for intense pain like before. Once it reached her stomach a blue window appeared. "You have consumed a beast pearl. Fusing the consumed beast pearl's energy with your energy". Then she felt pain even worse than before as it felt like the two energies were fighting inside her body, destroying it with no remorse. After a few hours of writhing on the ground as the spider looked rather worried, the pain finally subsided and a blue window appeared. "You have successfully made the chimera's power your own!". After she finished reading it a white window appeared. "You have obtained the Wing Generation skill as well as 10 energy!". When Cynthia saw this she decided to check her status. After all she never got a notification when she leveled up the first time so something might have changed other than the skill and energy. But before she could will the status screen to open up, a white window appeared. "You have withstood the Hemorrhagic venom of a blood viper! You have obtained Hemorrhagic poison resistance level 1!". "Damn I have a lot to check" Cynthia thought as she willed the stat menu to open.

"Heal me" Cynthia thought. She then felt a warm sensation go from where she felt the pain from her beast pearl being created travel through her body to where her injury is on her front leg. She then felt the pain begin to fade. "Alright the rest of this can wait. We should go back to the cave and recover."
