Seven Ring – First Stage (Volume 2)
Chapter 4: The Beggar's Task
Our story begins exactly where the previous chapter ended.
The main character is seen begging on the streets alongside a beggar.
Navi:
"What kind of days have come… I'm begging now. My story writer is doing me dirty. He never treats me right.
You must be wondering too—why am I begging?
Ever since the system window updated, it doesn't listen to me anymore, nor does it help me. What kind of system is this?
A system that doesn't listen to its host—should I call it my system or my teacher? What can I even do… this always happens to me." 😮💨
Navi:
"You must also be thinking how my condition became like this."
A Scene from Some Time Ago
Navi:
"When I was gathering information, my system window suddenly called me aside and gave me more details."
System Window:
"You are currently inside the body of a Korean boy who left his country and came here to work.
He was very weak. The person whose face you have been given was killed by a monster."
Navi:
"Okay… so what kind of work did he do? Does he have any family or friends? Can I find out?"
System Window:
"Hmmm… he is a beggar.
You must take on his identity and beg—only then will no one suspect you.
I investigated everything. He has no friends and no family members. He was completely alone. That is why I gave you his face.
However, he does have one beggar friend whom he lives with."
Navi:
"Just like other system windows give tasks to their hosts, will I also have to complete tasks?"
System Window:
"Yes, Master. You must complete tasks in order to become powerful.
Do you have any other questions, my Master?"
Navi:
"Hmmm… tell me more about that beggar."
System Window:
"Master, you will have to find that out yourself."
Navi:
"Alright. Do I have any task right now?"
System Window:
"Yes, Master. That is why I came."
Navi:
"What? 🤔 What kind of task?"
System Window:
"Master, your first task is this—
You must earn 10,000 rupees together with that beggar and give it to me.
And you must earn it by begging." 😁
Navi:
"Are you serious?
Do I really have to do this?" 😐
System Window:
"Yes, Master. You must complete this task within one month.
If you fail, the Ring will be taken away."
Navi:
"What are you saying? Did I do something wrong that you're treating me like this?
Please… don't do this to me."
System Window:
"Master, this is how we operate with our hosts.
You must remember—no matter what happens, you cannot use your power in front of humans."
Navi:
"Why is that? Is there some problem?"
System Window:
"Yes, Master. A very serious problem.
Your power does not belong to this world. If you use it, you will catch the attention of supreme beings.
Once they notice you, they will come after you.
You also cannot use the Ring's power anymore. Their power is far greater, and you are extremely weak right now.
That is why you cannot use your power in front of humans.
You may only use it against monsters—and only when you are completely alone."
Navi:
"And can't you protect me with your power?"
System Window:
"Master, I can only help you two times.
If you are seriously injured, call me."
Navi:
"Why is that? I am your host, and you will only help me twice?
You're really heartless toward me." 😭😭😭
System Window:
"Master, getting emotional is pointless. It does not affect me.
I have no feelings.
I can only help twice because the supreme beings of this Earth and my System Lord are already watching us.
If we attract too much attention, they will chase us.
And if that happens, you will never be able to return home.
That is why, Master, you must be careful with every action."
Navi:
"I thought I would have some fun here… enjoy myself a little.
But this life is ruined too.
Now tell me—where does that beggar live?"
System Window:
"Follow this arrow mark.
It will lead you to him.
Master, do not do anything foolish and do not get into fights.
Master… I am leaving now."
Navi:
"Hey, at least listen to me—
She left again without hearing me out.
What can I do… I have no choice but to accept it.
Let's see what kind of beggar he is."
The main character begins following the arrow mark.
And the chapter ends here.
