[3rd POV]
Billie continued to stay in the group hug for a few more minutes, until she had slowly come down from her little sobbing fit. The family looking at her with soft eyes as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
"Um...thank you all for that. I...I think I really needed that" Billie said, looking up at the group that were smiling at her. While Haley, Cam, Phil, and Claire were wiping their own tears from their eyes. Phil had the most tears streaking from his eyes, with Cam being a close second.
Not even remotely surprising.
"It's not a problem, honey. It's not a problem at all" Claire responded with a warm smile, as Billie looked them all over awkwardly for a few moments, before speaking.
"So...do you all want to come in? I was just writing the last of the lyrics for my new album. Well, at least the last lyrics on a physical paper" Billie said.
She had the album done a long time ago, mostly on digital. But she had never actually had the lyrics on paper, not all of them. But now that she was starting to actually train and learn the songs, it was time to have them physically.
It was better in her opinion.
She wanted to make an entire bookshelf of her albums and song lyrics. Books made out of them to line her wall, to show her work and maybe show it off in the future if she ever wanted to.
It'd be far in the future, but she thought it'd be fun.
"A new album? When's it going to release?" Mitchell asked with a raised eyebrow, his excitement at the words barely hidden, only noticeable from the slight twitch of his cheek and the gleam in his eyes.
Cam just gasped.
"A new album! Oooh, we have to come in now! Not just anyone can say that they were there when a great artist finished making their album!" Cam said, as he walked in, an amused Billie watched him while Mitchell just sighed at his boyfriend.
Cam was...sometimes rather difficult to deal with. But, Mitchell still loved him either way. Even if he was an absolute pain in his ass all the time.
"Not just her album, but mine too. And that's all written out, right? I know we had Chandelier written out, but what about all the others?" Haley asked, as she walked into the living room, the others following with her, the door shutting behind them.
"I've got it all done. Just need you to look it over and make sure it's all good" Billie replied with a nod.
"You're making a new album too? When's it going to come out?" Jay asked, interested. He had been listening to some of her music recently, and while it wasn't as good as his personal favorites, he had to admit that it was really catchy at times.
"No idea. I've gotta record it all, make the music videos for the songs that I think will be worth it to make one for. And everything else. So probably like...February or March I think?" Haley responded, glancing at Billie for confirmation.
"Haley's should be out in March and mine will probably come in April. We've been focusing on hers a lot more as it's much harder than mine" Billie explained, as she sat down on her couch, the Dunphy's finding their own spots a moment later.
"Ooh...damn this is comfortable" Jay couldn't help but mutter, as he practically melted into the insanely comfortable couch. It was way better than the ones he had at home. And he had bought them specifically for their comfort, and the fact that they'd be good for his back.
"I know right?! I don't know where Billie got them from, but they're even better than my bed at home!" Haley exclaimed, happy that someone noticed the same thing that she had.
"Well it better be comfortable, considering I spent like 50 grand on the damn thing" Billie grumbled, as the others paused what they were doing and turned to her.
"W-You spent 50 grand on...a couch?" Mitchell asked, his jaw dropping.
"...Yeah I know that sounds bad. But! In my defense, this is where I work like...all day. And no, it wasn't 50 grand. The couch and the other chairs combined were fifty grand. And that includes the one in my bedroom and the three others around the apartment. In reality the couch is like...10 I think?" Billie responded, flinching at the deadpans she was receiving.
Yeah...it was a little bad. But she had the money, hadn't really splurged on herself when she had decided to buy it, and her old couch made her back hurt like a bitch. But the new one was much more comfortable, and was perfect for her work.
She decided she was allowed to spoil herself every once in a while.
"That's...actually not nearly as bad as it sounded" Jay admitted.
"Dad, it's 10 grand for a couch!" Claire exclaimed.
"Yeah? Mine was 5 grand. When you have the money to buy the things that you want, you might as well. And in Billie's case, I'm sure this couch is used for more than just watching movies and whatever else" Jay responded, not finding it to be much of a problem.
50 grand was insane. 10...not so much.
It was a weird thing to think about, thinking that a couch worth 10 grand wasn't that bad. But comfort was comfort.
"It's pretty much my work space at this point. And we practice here too" Billie replied, agreeing with the man's words, as it was true.
"Still, even 10 grand is insane! I know you're rich, but ten grand on a couch is ridiculous!" Cam exclaimed.
"Oh it is. I'm not even going to deny that. I spent way too much on the couch, but it's comfortable, and makes my work much easier. The old one hurt my back and was not the best. And before you ask, no, it was not a super expensive couch. It was like...250 bucks or something like that" Billie replied, agreeing that 10 grand for a couch was ridiculous.
"It's what happens when you become rich. Once you've got the money to buy whatever you want, you might as well buy what you want. God knows I've done it plenty of times"
"And it's not even remotely as expensive as her recording room" Haley added, as Billie looked at her with a groan.
"Recording room?" Claire asked, while Phil was just looking around the place, noticing all sorts of really need memorabilia that lined the walls.
"Yeah, it's where we make the first versions of our songs. The equipment in that room is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars"
"It's the best of the best, Haley. It's supposed to cost a lot of money. And don't make me bring out the price tags for the dresses and clothes you've bought on our shopping trips" Billie warned, as her girlfriend stilled.
Especially once she saw the look on her mothers face.
"What dresses and clothes? And how much is on these...price tags?" Claire asked with a sweet smile.
It was a fake smile. The sort that made Haley pale while she shot her girlfriend a glare, with Billie only teasingly smirking in response.
"It's nothing mom, Billie's just joking"
"Really? So how much did these dresses cost then?" Claire asked with a raised eyebrow.
"How much did the most expensive dress cost. Is a better question, otherwise she'll just average it or say the price of the cheapest one" Mitchell added, her sister smirking at her brother's words, as Haley grumbled.
"Like...25 grand" Haley answered upon seeing all the looks.
Upon hearing the number, their eyes widened as even Phil looked at her like she was crazy. While Billie was openly smirking at her girlfriend, a teasing glint in her eyes, while inwardly, she had completely different thoughts.
'...She is totally going to get me back for this, isn't she?'
She had no idea.
