The pain in my chest
Stuart and I walked into the lecture room together. I have been with him for a year. That was actually since I began my master's degree here in THE ELITE UNIVERSITY. Unlike me an ordinary citizen, Stuart belongs to one of the top power families in the capital. We first met when I was an intern in one of the law firms of his family which are under his supervision. He has always been so good to me only that after that whole time of friendship I realized he no only wanted to be a friend but he wanted us to be more than friends which I was not ready for.
My mum and dad separated when I was seven years old because my mother found out that my father had a daughter with another woman. The girl happened to be of my age. I always thought they would talk things through but years passed by and they never did. My father was a doctor and my mother was a nurse. I spent most of the time with my mother but sometimes I visited my father . My mother got a new man when I was ten but my father never settled with another woman after leaving my mum not even the mother of Alia pater his daughter. He got another woman but she never lasted long though she gave birth to two children for my dad. So my father is single currently. My siblings live with him and are always happy when I visit them.Alia stays with them as well.My father wanted me to move in with them but I objected because my mother would not live without me but my father could.

" I am supposed to sit there!! " I heard Avery's voice above me after I had taken my seat.
" Are you being serious right now?" I questioned her trying to control my spirit of furry.
" Stuart is my fiancee but you keep around him all the time like a mistress that you are"
" Avery can you just stop that . You know it well that I don't have any relationship with you. I am not going to go to through with that engagement because I don't like you so leave us alone." Stuart said these words to Avery. Avery's eyes were filled with tears. She looked at me with daggers then walked away quickly.
" You should not speak to her like that that though you don't love her. You know her family though you are from a powerful family, her family is like four times more than yours in ranking. Be careful with your decisions." I tried to remind Stuart.
" No matter what happens I will follow my heart. The only thing I need now is you giving me a chance to show you how much I love you." I pulled away Amy hand from him when he tried to hold me.
Luckily Professor Sterling arrived and his eyes were on me already. He wanted me to present the assignment he had given. After the lecture, the professor called me to have sword with me. Professor Sterling is one of the richest men in the country. He ranks among the top five in the country not because of his profession as a professor but his companies which are said to be handled by his sons now.
You are soon graduating. Do you have any plans of where you will be working?" He asked me after discussing what he had called me for.
I told him I didn't and he told me I could work in one of his firms in the future.

"RIVEN STERLING RETURNS TO THE COUNTRY" that was a headline I got on thee notifications on my phone from the celebrity news. The headline appeared again from the business news. I tried to ignore the heaviness in my chest on the sight of that but I couldn't forget the memories.
RIVEN is my professor's son. He is Avery's brother. I had gone to the same college with him.
" Hello! Have you seen the news Lindsey, RIVEN is back!!" Leah shouted in excitement. Leah is my best friend. She has had a crush on RIVEN since were in college though he was ahead of us. That very fact put the both of us in trouble when Leah tried to confess to him using my name. That caused chaos in my life to the extent that I nearly ended my friendship with her but i just changed college and left to stay with my dad for that year in another country.
