Chapter 2 - Transmigration

December 18, Year 216 of the Requiem Calender.

In a small hidden room, candlelight illuminated the ceiling, the walls, a wooden table, and a broken chair that had been smashed into a bookshelf.

Research papers splattered with dark ink were scattered across the floor. The air was thick with the sharp stench of blood, vomit, and something chemical.

At the center of this gloomy room, a young man lay lifeless. A sharp black dagger was pierced into his chest. The blood flowing from the wound looked fresh, indicating that he had died within the last hour.

His right cheek was pressed against the blood-soaked floor, his tongue stuck out, and his eyes were wide open. His facial expression showed the extreme fear he had felt before death.

Suddenly, the candles began flickering violently, even though there was no way for wind to enter.

A crow's cawing could be heard reverberating through the room, making the atmosphere even more eerie.

Twitch! Shhiik!

The dead young man's fingers started twitching. Moments later, his feet, eyes, mouth—every part of him—began to shake violently.

Right then,

"Haaaaaaaaaah!!"

The dead young man's eyes snapped open. He abruptly sat up straight, breathing raggedly. For a moment, everything around him was blurry, and he could only hear his rough breathing and the thudding of his pulse.

A sharp, throbbing pain shot through his head. Instinctively, he reached up to touch it. As soon as his bloody hand made contact, conscious thought finally returned to his head.

'This place...' The young man looked around. The small room was calm and quiet, illuminated by the faint candlelight. In front of him was a study desk made of Meheguni wood. On it lay a stack of papers and heavy books. Beside the table, the room had bookshelves on two sides.

Looking around, his eyes fell on a black dagger lying still on his lap. Then he noticed that part of his clothes on his chest was torn with twisted edges, indicating he was wounded in the chest and the dagger had fallen out when he abruptly sat up after gaining consciousness.

However, there was no wound on his chest. There was blood all over his clothes, but not even a scratch could be seen on him.

Seeing this mysterious phenomenon, the young man understood something. He quickly stood up from the floor. The room was very small, without any windows. On the right side of the room was a brown door—the way out. Right beside the door, there was a mirror lying upside down on the floor. Its frame was made of silver with a simple gold coating.

The young man picked up the mirror. It had several cracks. On the cracked surface, a young man's reflection appeared. He looked to be in his early twenties, with short black hair, obsidian-black eyes, and a pale complexion with average-looking features. Overall, an elegant aura was emanating from him.

Cheon Ma indifferently stared at the reflection of his new face before saying, "It seems I have transmigrated."

The consciousness inside this young man's body was none other than the cult leader of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult, Cheon Ma-jeong.

This transmigration might be caused by the Boundless Scroll.

The Boundless Scroll is one of the nine Elden Aspects and has the ability to bend reality, defy law, and dissect time, according to the Legend of Nagis Julfiqa's Time Tapestry Theory.

"Existence is a woven tapestry. Everything is a thread or connected to a knot. The Boundless Scroll can re-enter the tapestry and alter the weave."

"Thus, its potential is unmatched. Even heaven is powerless before it.

And it seems that by detonating the Boundless Scroll, I have triggered something, and my consciousness, which had scattered into fragments, was strangled by many threads and gathered inside this body." Cheon Ma deduced.

Originally, Cheon Ma had recently cultivated this mysterious Elden Aspect, The Boundless Scroll, but before he could use it to ascend to immortality, the heavenly principle sealed his power, and the world joined forces against him, forcing him into a corner. In that dire situation, he was forced to detonate the Boundless Scroll and try to absorb it, gambling all in an attempt to harness its power to ascend. Yet, he failed; instead, he had transmigrated.

Cheon Ma-jeong sighed. Although he had gotten a new start in life, he felt his previous life's suffering had become a total waste. In his previous life, he had manipulated, betrayed, bootlicked, and killed millions of people—sacrificing them, torturing them, even making the Heavenly Principle furious at him—all to become an immortal being. And now, he had failed.

"It's just a pity..." Cheon Ma closed his eyes and sighed before saying, "I know of no better life purpose than to perish in attempting the great and impossible."

Cheon Ma quickly let go of his regrets and started looking forward. Everything he did in his past life had brought him this new life. He had been a childish person at first and had wasted many years learning this and that. But with his past life experience and knowledge, he could gain even more than he had in his previous life, and do so more quickly and efficiently. Cheon Ma's heart burst forth with ambitious and determined feelings.

Then, Cheon Ma-jeong let go of the cracked mirror, It hit the wooden floor with a sharp crack.

"System window." Cheon Ma commanded. Instantly, multiple dark green, transparent windows appeared before his obsidian eyes.
