Chapter 32 - Peace Returns to Mondstadt

Angel's Share – Third Floor

The two men sat on opposite sofas.

"I didn't come to see you because of the Abyss Mage," Jiang Yan said.

"Oh?" Diluc raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

"How about going to Windwail Highland together?" Jiang Yan invited.

Diluc uncrossed his legs and leaned forward slightly, elbows resting on his knees. His posture turned bold and grounded, his gaze fixed on Jiang Yan.

"Just the two of us?" Diluc asked.

"Lumine, Barbara, and Noelle should be coming along too."

"You're bringing people again?" Diluc frowned.

He had acted with this guy once before. Back then, Jiang Yan already had an Adventurers' Guild investigator with him—a girl named Fischl.

Just listening to her speak had given him a headache.

"Yes," Jiang Yan admitted.

Diluc's expression turned strange.

"You should know this already. My strength is close to the current limit of Teyvat. There's no need for me to deliberately improve it anymore."

With the major ley lines sealed by the gods, even Vision bearers had an upper limit to their power. After all, elemental energy ultimately came from ley line energy.

With the primary ley lines sealed, only minor ley lines leaked energy—and that amount was limited. Naturally, elemental energy was thin.

"If you just want me to babysit kids, I don't have the interest or time—"

Diluc stopped mid-sentence, suddenly sensing something off.

"Wait. If it were you, you would have anticipated this response. And yet you still came to me… which means you're confident you can persuade me."

Diluc thought for a moment, then suddenly realized something. His voice slipped out before he could stop it.

"You agreed?!"

His emotions surged.

If the people of Mondstadt saw Diluc like this, they would be stunned. He was known for his composure, foresight, calm demeanor, and impeccable elegance.

What could possibly make Mondstadt's noble scion lose his composure like this?

"…Yes."

Jiang Yan nodded.

At the same time, a task was generated on the system panel.

[System Notification]

The host has accepted a task: World Level Breakthrough

Task Description:

The host must travel to a Mondstadt ley line seal ruin discovered by the Adventurers' Guild andLift the seal left by the gods, restoring part of Teyvat's ley line energy.

Task Reward:

Divine-grade item

Note:

When the gods placed the seal, they used a certain object as the medium. When the seal is broken, you may obtain it.

Task Restriction:

Otherworldly adventurers only

Additional Note:

Due to the gods' restrictions, natives of Teyvat cannot enter the ruin. Only the host and other beings from beyond this world may enter.

Jiang Yan skimmed the task description.

This was a commission from more than half a year ago—jointly proposed by high-ranking members of the Mondstadt Adventurers' Guild, merchant leaders led by Diluc, and the Knights of Favonius faction led by Grand Master Varka.

He had refused it back then.

The reason was simple—there was no such thing in the original storyline.

A setting where natives of Teyvat were barred from entering? That didn't exist in the game.

Jiang Yan only had one life. He wasn't about to gamble recklessly.

But if he didn't go—

He, the ambitious adventurers of the Guild, and people like Diluc would forever live under the shadow of the gods, never able to reach their level.

That was unacceptable.

So he would go—just not alone.

He needed help.

Lumine. Or Aether.

Right now, it was Lumine.

"Don't forget," Jiang Yan smiled,

"besides me, there's now another traveler from another world."

"So it was the arrival of this Traveler that made you change your mind!"

Diluc stood up, pacing back and forth.

Then he realized how agitated he looked.

He cleared his throat and sat back down.

"So this trip to Windwail Highland is for her."

To raise Lumine's strength—

Only then would Jiang Yan go with her to the sealed ley line ruin of Mondstadt.

With that reasoning, Diluc had no way to refuse.

"I'll go with you," he said.

"Consider this a free bodyguard."

Jiang Yan had clearly calculated that Diluc would agree.

"Experiencing life as an escort should be refreshing for Master Diluc," Jiang Yan teased as he waved.

"Meet outside Whispering Woods later."

He returned to Good Hunter.

The restaurant wouldn't open tonight—takeout only.

By now, Noelle was already waiting in the hall with a large bag of adventuring supplies.

Tents, sleeping bags, rations, water, cooking tools, flint, portable knives—everything was prepared.

Jiang Yan dumped it all into his system inventory.

Noelle watched with unconcealed envy.

A Vision's storage space usually only held its corresponding weapon.

"I can carry things too!" Paimon volunteered. "My storage space is huge!"

"I'm afraid you won't be able to resist sneaking food," Jiang Yan replied.

After checking that everyone was present, he said:

"Let's go. We're setting out."
