Diya endured all of this for the sake of her family. By now, her mother had grown extremely old and was no longer able to work. The entire burden of the household had fallen on Diya's shoulders. Her brother spent the whole day intoxicated, while her younger sister took care of their mother.
Diya worked day and night, yet poverty still refused to leave them. Due to his addiction, her brother gradually lost his sanity. He would vent his anger on his younger sister and, under the influence of alcohol, beat both their mother and Diya while demanding money.
Diya slowly began to break. When she lay down at night to sleep, voices echoed in her heart:
"Will the people I sacrificed myself for always stand by me?"
"Do the ones I care so deeply about truly love me?"
These thoughts took over her mind completely. Because of the beatings and constant humiliation from her brother, Diya even began to fear returning home. A constant sense of dread lived in her heart.
Then one day, when she came home, her brother started talking about getting married. Diya felt a spark of happiness, thinking that after marriage he would stop beating her. She arranged her brother's wedding with great effort and celebration, hoping that he would finally give up his addiction.
But instead of things improving, the violence only grew worse — now all three women became victims of his brutality.
A year later, one day, her brother's wife suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness. When she was taken to the hospital, it was discovered that she was pregnant. The doctors informed them that the delivery was near and that the pregnancy could not be terminated.
Her brother refused to accept the child.
