Chapter 25 - Chapter 8 — Arc II: The Demon in the Velvet Light

ACT I — The Night Where Blood Watches Blood

The Midnight Sect did not rule by armies.

It ruled by nights.

And Velvet Oblivion was its beating heart — a cathedral of sin and finance where bloodlines were priced like stock, where alliances were whispered into existence, where desire was currency and fear was leverage.

The moment Ezio stepped inside, the room tilted.

Hundreds of beings filled the vast chamber: vampire nobles in silk and shadow, demon generals with horned silhouettes, fallen angels wrapped in pale fire, witches with inked eyes that could see lies, and shadow-brokers who had never once been photographed.

Music rolled through the space like a pulse — low, hypnotic, layered with vampiric frequencies designed to loosen tongues and sharpen hunger.

Red light fell from a living ceiling of sigils, bathing everyone in the glow of blood.

Ezio felt it immediately.

The emotions.

Not his own — theirs.

Hunger.Greed.Jealousy.Lust.Terror.Ambition.

Every desire brushed his skin like invisible fingers.

The Tarot Core behind his ribs reacted, faint Red Code glyphs flickering across his vision.

Casanova's voice whispered in his memory:

Every man in this room wants something he cannot have.Your job is to let them think you are that thing.

Machiavelli answered coldly:

And while they are distracted by wanting you, you take their power.

Ezio smiled faintly.

Laura walked at his side, her new bloodline pulsing like a low flame. She felt eyes on her — predatory, curious, envious.

"They're measuring me," she muttered.

"Yes," Rosa said quietly. "To see if you're worth stealing."

Kayra's ears twitched. "And to see if Ezio is worth killing."

Luminous led them forward, her golden eyes radiating quiet dominance. Whispers followed them like ghosts.

"That's him…""Second Origin…""Empress's Prince…""He has a queen now…"

Ezio could feel futures branching.

One where someone tried to poison him.One where a vampire lord challenged him.One where a demon offered him a fortune for Laura's blood.

All of them real.

All of them alive.

They reached Luminous's elevated lounge — a velvet throne overlooking the entire club.

And that's when the music changed.

The rhythm dropped into something darker.

Slower.

War-drums beneath velvet.

The crowd's mood shifted.

Heads turned.

A figure entered through the far archway.

Black leather.Crimson silk.Boots stained with old blood.

A demon woman walked through Velvet Oblivion like it was already hers.

Her horns curled like a crown. Her aura was not loud — it was heavy, like a battlefield waiting to happen.

Ezio felt something in his Tarot Core twist.

Danger.

Memory.

Luminous's lips curved.

"Oh," she murmured. "Perfect timing."

The demon woman's eyes swept the crowd… and locked on Ezio.

For a fraction of a second, her gaze softened into recognition.

Then it sharpened into something predatory.

She smiled.

Luminous leaned close.

"Ezio," she whispered. "Meet Lagertha. Fallen Demon Princess. One of Lucifer's war heirs."

Ezio's breath caught.

The slave demon.

The girl in chains.

The one who had looked at him like she was memorizing his face.

"You…" he murmured.

Lagertha stepped closer.

"I remember you," she said softly. "Even when you didn't know who I was."

Laura stiffened.

Kayra felt a chill.

Rosa saw three wars start at once.

And Lucifer laughed in Ezio's mind.

Ah… destiny loves irony.

ACT II — The Jester Freezes the World

Time stopped.

The music froze mid-beat.

Blood in glasses stilled.

Lagertha's smile locked in place.

Red Code flooded reality.

The nightclub peeled away, transforming into a twisted carnival of broken Heaven — velvet curtains stitched from fallen wings, chandeliers of shattered halos, a stage carved from reality itself.

Lucifer stood there in full glory.

A fallen angel jester — white hair flowing, eyes glowing red-gold, a cane that became a scythe of pure Red Code.

He bowed.

"Well, well… look who wandered into your path."

Ezio stared.

"Lagertha," Lucifer said, twirling his cane. "A former slave demon who conquered half a war-realm. A war sovereign who hunts anomalies for sport."

He grinned.

"And she remembers you."

The scythe cut through the air, showing futures.

Ezio dead.Ezio crowned.Ezio kneeling beside her.Ezio killing her.

Lucifer leaned close.

"This," he whispered, "is the kind of enemy who becomes a queen… or a grave."

Time resumed.

Lagertha's smile deepened.

And the war of blood and destiny began.
