Chapter 112 - Chapter One Hundred and Twelve — The Edge of Obsession

The Abyss trembled violently, twisting like a living thing as Darian and the predator combined their assaults, bending shadow and void into sharp, jagged weapons aimed directly at Seris and Mason. The platform beneath them quaked, edges splintering as the tether that bound them threatened to fracture under the immense pressure.

Seris planted her feet firmly, silver mark blazing, every heartbeat threading into the Abyss itself. She felt the shadows lashing at her heels, Mason's presence coiling behind her like molten steel, desire and obsession simmering dangerously under restraint.

"Mason," she said sharply, placing a hand on his chest, feeling the tension radiating off him. "Anchor yourself. Not for me. Not for them. For us. Trust the bond. Trust the Abyss. Trust me."

His silver-black eyes burned with molten intensity, shadows twitching violently as if ready to erupt. "I… I can't—" he whispered, voice raw, laced with obsession.

"You can," Seris said, voice firm. "Because restraint is power. Because obsession without control destroys. Anchor yourself, Mason. Desire tempered by choice protects. Obsession unrestrained will ruin us both."

Darian surged, striking at Seris's tether with jagged, cutting shadows. The predator slithered through the fractures, poised to exploit the tiniest moment of weakness. The Abyss buckled under the assault, shadows twisting violently, some unraveling entirely.

Seris staggered, pulse hammering, silver mark flaring. "I am anchored!" she shouted, voice cutting through the chaos. "By choice! By will! By bond! By us! You cannot break this tether, Darian! You cannot break us!"

Mason's shadows coiled protectively, molten steel restrained by her words, but obsession surged dangerously, threatening to overwhelm. "I… I want to destroy them both," he whispered, voice raw, trembling. "I want to consume everything to keep you safe—but I cannot. I mustn't."

Seris pressed her forehead against his chest, silver light flaring brightly between them. "And you won't," she whispered. "Because restraint is stronger than obsession. Because our bond survives through choice, not force. That is why we endure. That is why we survive."

The Abyss pulsed violently, coiling around them like a living cage, stabilizing the platform and containing both Darian and the predator's assault. Shadows clashed against shadows, light against darkness, a battle waged not with weapons but with wills and hearts intertwined.

Darian hissed, backing slightly, form flickering as the Abyss pressed against him. "Impossible… how can you—"

"You endure," Seris said, voice unwavering. "Because obsession is tempered by choice. Desire is guided by trust. And love… even dangerous, consuming love… is stronger than any predator alone."

Mason exhaled, shadows settling slightly but still alive, coiled and tense. "You terrify me," he whispered, lips brushing her hair. "Even restrained, you are more than I can protect… more than I can contain… and yet I cannot stop wanting to consume everything for you."

"And you won't," she whispered back, pressing her lips to his chest. "Not fully. Restraint protects us. Desire fuels us without destroying us. That is why we survive. That is why we endure."

The Abyss pulsed deliberately, folding and stabilizing, alive and aware. Both Darian and the predator lingered at the edges, forced to acknowledge a tether they could not break, though plotting still.

Seris and Mason stood on the edge of devastation, shadows coiled around them, tethered by choice, anchored by trust, and bound by a dark, obsessive, consuming love that even the Abyss itself could not unmake.
