The Abyss had grown more chaotic. Shadows writhed unpredictably, alive with recognition of the tethered bond between Seris and Mason. Every step she took was mirrored by the shadows' subtle movements, protective yet restless, as though the Abyss itself acknowledged the obsessive connection threading through them.
"You are bold," Mason whispered, appearing from the darkness. Silver eyes molten with obsession, shadows curling protectively around him. "Every heartbeat of defiance… only strengthens the tether. You are mine, Seris. Already. And you will crave it."
Seris raised her hands, summoning blades of shadow. Another immortal emerged from the depths, faster and stronger than the last. She struck first, shadows lashing, coiling around the enemy like living chains. Mason's presence flared, amplifying every strike, threading obsessive energy into her movements.
"You cannot resist me," Mason murmured, leaning close. "Every spark of independence, every act of rebellion… only feeds the obsession. And one day, you will want this. You will want me."
The Abyss reacted violently, walls twisting, shadows attacking. Seris's chest heaved as she unleashed the full force of her power, waves of dark energy flaring in the darkness. When the last rival fell, she collapsed, trembling, chest heaving. Mason knelt beside her, brushing a tendril along her neck. "You are mine," he whispered. "And even your defiance only strengthens the bond. You will crave it… I promise."
