Jack took a deep breath."A very complete training system. No wonder they're so powerful. I'll take them. This is the deposit."
Jack tossed a bag of gold coins into Hago's arms, then gave him an address.
"Bring the Unsullied here tomorrow to complete the transaction. You know it—we've only got one old man and one child. Carrying seven hundred gold coins around isn't exactly safe."
Hago weighed the coin pouch in his hand, then broke into a smile."I understand perfectly. No need to trouble yourself—I'll just bring the Unsullied over to you directly."
Seven hundred gold coins were more than enough to make Hago take this trip.
"Then many thanks. Let's set off now—my little lambs are still waiting for me on the ship."
After that, Hago had Jack select twenty-eight Unsullied, then casually threw in two bed slaves and two ship slaves as a bonus.
"These two bed slaves are both virgins. I'll give them to you," Hago said generously.
There was no helping it. Small dealers like them rarely had customers buying Unsullied, because people always suspected their Unsullied weren't strong enough in combat.
But in truth, they were all trained the same way.
The two bed slaves looked fairly decent, with pale skin—like "sheep men," the Lhazareen.
As for the two ship slaves, they were young men not yet twenty, looking strong and capable of hard labor, perfect for handling chores aboard a ship.
Jack and Hago's group soon left Astapor and arrived at the dock outside the city.
After Newgate led the two ship slaves to unload the wooden chests filled with gold coins, Hago carefully counted them.
Once that was done, he handed the Unsullied command staff to Jack. After confirming everything was correct, he had his slave attendants load the gold onto the wagons.
"Pleasant doing business with you. Remember to come find me again next time you want to buy Unsullied."
"Pleasant doing business," Jack replied with a smile as he bade Hago farewell.
Then Jack raised his voice and asked the twenty-eight Unsullied,"Who's the commander?"
"I am, master!" An Unsullied with two sharp spikes on his helmet stepped forward.
"What's your name?"
"I have no name, master!" the Unsullied replied loudly.
"From now on, your name is Kaido. Have your men give themselves proper names. From now on, you'll all call me Captain."
"Understood."
Jack looked at the command staff in his hand and asked,"Without this thing, can I still command you?"
Kaido answered without hesitation,"Yes. You have already purchased us. This command staff is merely a symbol of the transaction. Even without it, we will still obey your commands."
Hearing Kaido's explanation, Jack immediately understood.
The command staff was nothing more than a symbol.
It didn't have to be a staff—it could be anything at all, as long as it represented the completion of the deal.
After receiving Kaido's assurance, Jack casually tossed the command staff into the sea.
He wasn't Daenerys.
When Dany threw away the command staff, she promised the Unsullied that they could choose to leave or choose to fight for her.
That was undeniably a huge gamble. If the Unsullied had really walked away, Daenerys would've been completely screwed—she'd probably regret it so badly her boobs would turn green.
With everyone in tow, they boarded the Sea Dog. With over thirty people aboard, the ship felt a bit cramped.
They needed to hurry up and start their zero-yuan shopping.
Jack cut off the slave collars from the two ship slaves and dressed them in worn sailor clothes. At last, they looked like proper seamen.
For ship slaves, basic sailing skills were practically mandatory.
Jack handed the two of them over to Newgate, hoping Newgate could train them into capable navigators.
As for the two bed slaves, Jack also cut off their collars, turning them into free people and assigning them the role of maids aboard the Sea Dog.
But before that, Jack needed to check their bodies.
Eli and Yager obediently followed Jack into the cabin.
Their master was a young and handsome boy—there was no greater fortune for bed slaves like them.
Meanwhile, Newgate naturally assumed the role of first mate and began explaining the origins of the Sea Dog to everyone.
"Captain Jack · Poseidon is a benevolent captain—but he is also a professional pirate.
Don't think that just because Captain Jack seems easygoing you can act however you like. If anyone does, I'll be the first to cut off their head."
"There are three rules aboard the Sea Dog:
First—absolute obedience to Captain Jack's orders.
Second—never question Captain Jack's orders.
Third—absolutely abide by the first two rules. Understood?"
"Understood!" everyone replied at once.
They were slaves to begin with—obeying their master was basic discipline.
Even though Jack had already cut off their slave collars, they still believed themselves to be Jack's slaves.
Many slave owners did this on purpose, as it highlighted their mercy and kindness.
But if a slave truly believed they were free—
That slave would usually die a very miserable death.
