Assault clapped his hands with, "Great!" Pulled out a seat for his wife and then did a lazy twirl around his own seat and planted himself. Funny enough. Battery was on the same side with Tsunade and between him and Arcanine.
Mahh boy was looking from me to my own plate and I couldn't turn him down. With a chuckle, I shifted my plate over and let the goodest boy have it. With a smile, I ran my hand over his fluffy mane while Arcanine showed down on the rest of my burger.
"So, out and about enjoying the sun huh, I can dig it," Assault started even as he tried to act like he wasn't eyeing my puppy.
Tsunade smiled as she tilted her head up at the sky, "It has been rather refreshing to get out and enjoy the day after the week we are having."
Ohh, that was a nice jab, and I said nothing as I kept petting my big puppy. Battery was able to hide the wince, but Assault didn't even react. I finally pulled my hand from Arcanines mane after the silence stretched for a bit. Ignoring how the two stiffened as I waved my hand over the table. They both eyed the device I placed down with equal looks.
I waved a hand around us, "I doubt you would want the public to hear what we are about to talk about." I said, then thought about it and did a little add-on. "Don't worry, I won't cut the connection to your coms.
Assault gave a light nervous chuckle, but there was no need for him to fake such a thing because his eyes still didn't match his expression.
"How did you?" Battery started but her husband snorted at her side.
I on the other hand rolled my eyes at them both, "No thinker power necessary, it's just a little-known thing humans used to have before the cape craze called common sense." I answered with a very flat look on my face. "You have enclosed earcups built into your mask, it's not that hard to figure out."
Assault continued to do that fake chuckle that would get most people to laugh along with him, "He got you there, Puppy."
The little cube split open at its top as it reformed into a pyramid, light shot out of the top before a dome shimmered into life around us. The crowd that had formed clearly got muffled so that we could now speak freely. I even added a little snow blur effect to keep people from reading our lips.
They both looked around a little surprised at the bubble that now wrapped around us.
"What kind of tinker tech is this?" Battery asked with a confused expression on her face.
I snorted, "Not tinker-tech, just regular tech not shared with the public." Then I waved my hand from side to side to dismiss and overrun what they were about to say. "But you don't want to know anything about that, no, you are here for something else."
Tsunade snorted at my side, "As if they aren't over-analyzing that statement alone, it must be nice wasting all the tax-payer dollars like that."
Battery looked affronted while Assault let out a nice belly laugh at that. He even did that slap the table with the laugh to help the crowd around us know he thought things were just that funny.
There was nothing to be said as I just watched him with a raised eyebrow, Battery just looked embarrassed, clearly she couldn't tell that he was faking it. Taking a sip from my drink, I finished half of it before placing the cup on the table as Assault settled down.
"So, why did Piggot send her toy soldiers to speak with us?" I asked clearly not impressed with either of them.
Battery went to answer with what was clearly going to be a snide comment, but Assault was there to cut her off. "Ohh, well, you see they were talking about you coming by to collect some bounty or another." He then held a hand to his chest. "I just wanted to meet the man who took out Hookwolf and put Armys in the corner."
So the game was to appeal to my pride and see if I'll take their bait instead.
Instead of taking what was clearly a crafty bait, I shook my head. "That was nothing special, Hooky would have been dead a long time ago or crippled if more people were willing to take their defense into their own hands. "
"All you did was throw gas on an already tenuous situation." Battery sniped into the conversation. "Murder is…."
I leaned forward cutting her off, "Self-defense is always the option when people decide they want to invade your home so don't give me that shit. I doubt Assault would leave anyone alive for breaking into your homes. That is unless he would be happy with you being the next Fleur."
