Chapter 3 - 3.The Hidden Path

Mo Zhao stared at Yohan's retreating back, unable to comprehend how his eldest brother could appear so different today.

"Hanlin, find out what First Brother has been doing lately."

Lu Hanlin understood and nodded quickly. Then he signaled the guards to remove the servant's corpse and clean up the mess Mo Yohan had made.

Meanwhile, Xu Chen followed Yohan without daring to say a word. After all, he'd been with Mo Yohan since childhood. He knew exactly what Mo Yohan was like.

But this time, he felt like he didn't recognize his master at all. The behavior Mo Yohan displayed now was completely unpredictable.

Like right now—Yohan suddenly wanted to meet his grandfather. The first person in the Heaven Sword Sect who couldn't be met at will, even if Yohan was his grandson.

But Yohan insisted on meeting Mo Zhihao. Whatever was going through his Young Master's mind, Xu Chen couldn't understand.

"First Young Master, what brings you here?"

This was Gu Yang, Mo Zhihao's loyal guard. Older than Mo Yulong, but his appearance still looked prime.

"I want to request something from the Sect Leader."

Gu Yang furrowed his brow. That was because Yohan called Mo Zhihao "Sect Leader" instead of "Grandfather." What's wrong with this boy? He seems different today.

"The Leader is currently resting, you—"

"I know. I heard the Sect Leader has been suffering from headaches lately. I think I can help him."

Gu Yang furrowed his brow again. Mo Yohan spoke without stuttering in front of him. Usually, the young man before him didn't dare meet his eyes, even choosing to avoid him.

Let alone meet his grandfather. But this time, Yohan looked calm, showing no fear or anxiety. He seemed like a different person.

"How can you help him? The Sect Leader's headache isn't an ordinary headache," Gu Yang said, clearly testing Yohan.

Yohan smiled. "Of course, with my intellectual thinking pattern."

That answer stunned Gu Yang. How could Yohan know that what happened to Mo Zhihao wasn't a physical headache, but rather his master was pondering something?

Seeing Yohan's way of thinking, Gu Yang decided to give the young man a chance.

"I'll ask first whether you can meet him or not."

Yohan nodded. Then Gu Yang went inside to meet Mo Zhihao. Without waiting long, the middle-aged man came out with a piece of paper.

"Master doesn't want to be disturbed. But if you can solve the root of his headache, he'll give you a chance to meet him."

With that, Gu Yang handed a small note to Mo Yohan. Seeing this, Yohan smiled and accepted the paper Gu Yang offered.

"Give my regards to the Sect Leader. Tell him I'll charge a high price for this remedy."

Gu Yang paused for a moment, then finally nodded. After getting his answer, Yohan left, followed by Xu Chen.

Only when they were far from the Sect Leader's residence did Xu Chen breathe a sigh of relief. He'd been struggling to breathe, especially seeing Gu Yang's powerful aura.

Xu Chen couldn't believe how Yohan had restrained himself today. He truly seemed like someone else, not like his usual Young Master.

"Young Master, what are you really planning?" Xu Chen muttered while following Yohan.

Mo Yohan rarely spoke. He often kept his head down and avoided passing others.

But this time, Yohan walked calmly, passing servants and even disciples who were bustling near the main hall.

Swoosh!

Thwack!!

A small stone hit Yohan's head. Not a serious wound, but it made the thrower laugh.

"Young Master!" Xu Chen immediately approached Yohan, but the young man only stopped him with his hand.

"Oh my! I didn't see the First Young Master there. Forgive me. That's because Young Master was walking where he shouldn't."

The young man's words were gentle, but his tone carried mockery, as if he'd done it on purpose.

Yohan touched the wound on his head and looked at the blood on his hand. His calm face instantly showed rising fury. When Yohan glanced over, the young man who'd laughed earlier suddenly looked awkward, as did the disciples around him.

Not far away, Mo Zhao was also there, practicing with his wooden sword. He glanced over, wondering what trouble Mo Yohan would cause this time.

Seeing Yohan starting to get angry, Xu Chen quickly warned him.

"Young Master, control your anger. He's the son of Nobleman Li."

Yohan raised his head. He only gave a sharp look toward the young man who'd thrown the stone at him. As far as Yohan knew, it would be dangerous if he killed a nobleman's son, especially since he was a disciple at the Heaven Sword Sect.

So Yohan only smirked, then walked away while being supported by Xu Chen. But the aura he'd left behind almost made everyone forget how to breathe.

"What was that? Is that the First Young Master we know?" one disciple spoke, staring at Yohan with a fearful expression.

"I felt like I saw a cold-blooded killer. He looked like he wanted to tear you apart, Li Xuen. You better be careful," another disciple warned.

Li Xuen clenched his fists tightly. Mo Zhao could see the anger in Li Xuen's eyes, so he approached.

"Don't look for trouble with Mo Yohan, or I'll be the one to teach you a lesson."

Everyone was shocked by what Mo Zhao had just said. As far as they knew, the Young Masters in the Mo family didn't get along. But this time, Mo Zhao even gave Li Xuen a warning.

Li Xuen immediately nodded. No one dared oppose Mo Zhao—he was famous for his strong physical power.

After saying what he wanted, Mo Zhao left. He grew more curious about his First Brother's behavioral change.

"Hanli, did you get the information needed?" Mo Zhao asked.

Hanli nodded. "I asked the servants who enter and leave the First Young Master's residence. They said Young Master does seem different, but there's nothing suspicious about his behavior. The strangest thing is... he often sits by the fish pond every day."

Mo Zhao glanced at Hanli with a confused look. "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure, Young Master."

"This is strange. I know his behavior isn't normal, but what's he doing by the fish pond?" Mo Zhao kept wondering. Could there be something in the fish pond? Something that changed his eldest brother's behavior?

No one knew that Mo Yohan's body, thought to have no Mana Core, actually had the ability to absorb Mana energy from its surroundings.

And only Mo Yohan knew this. Every day, the body he inhabited changed. Though slowly, that body was already stronger than before. Because every day, Mo Yohan absorbed Mana energy from within the fish pond. Energy possessed by nature that not many people knew about.
