A little earlier in Heaven, Shadow and Space stood by, with the lights of the celestial garden on their backs, their thoughts venting into the silence of the void outside.
"Light is asleep. We can talk now." Shadow begins.
"I am still conflicted. Is Light right? Are we wrong?" Space commented, her words uncertain.
"We are legates of God's pantheon, sister. We may occupy the highest place in the cosmic food chain, but that gives us no right to decide another's fate on whim," says Shadow
"We are forces that govern. Our duty relies on our firm instincts and our responsibility with the golden sword. We are meant to preserve and save, not recklessly destroy, even in the face of some prophecy saying a mortal will ruin everything we mean is real. We are to make choices. Let's hope to make the best one." Shadow pauses, comprehending the weight of his words.
Space stands near, her thoughtful gloom slowly changing to an assured nod.
"All life has meaning, dear sister. Let's cherish it." Darkness finishes.
"How ironic that the embodiment of darkness is telling me about life's meaning." Chuckled Space. Shadow joined in.
"Somebody has to say it."
The siblings broke into a moment of joyous laughter; one they perhaps had not shared in eons. Suddenly, both of them have a splitting headache. The knights of Heaven struggled on their feet, their temples between their palms. As they fell to their knees, both Space and darkness seemed to lose meaning, blending themselves into chaotic confusion. Then everything returned to normal.
A scream suddenly comes from Light's quarter, one of intense agony that clearly belonged to Light. They turned.
"What was that scream?" asked Space.
"It's Light" Shadow replied. "Something's wrong. Quick, follow me."
Shadow is starting to run towards Light's room. On the way, Shadow's thoughts race about Time, concerned. She held the ring that her father gave them. The ring acts as a beacon that interacts with creation; it is also transcendental, has guarding properties, and will warn Time if anything goes wrong. Could such a signal soon fill the void?
When they reached Light's room, they saw him panting, pale and choked. The two siblings concerned for his safety, enquired.
"What happened?"
For a moment, Light bore a look of bewilderment. He looks at them, ascertaining his surroundings. Soon, his features relaxed. Regaining his composure, he spoke out in a calm tone.
"It's nothing I can't handle."
"You almost scared us to death." said Space, furious.
"Sure, I did." Light retorted. His smirk was smug, but it trembled lightly, seeming to hide a brewing panic. Light continued.
"Where is Time?"
Shadow begrudgingly explains what happened.
"Oh, it has begun." Light said to the two siblings.
"What has?" The siblings stood, uneasy.
"The prophecy foretold all's end, and now it has started with this." Light spoke, "As aspects of creation, we are fundamental for creation, and the fall of creation will begin with us."
Space seems uncomfortable with this statement. Shadow notices Light's tone change and goes on guard.
"Ever since Father created us, you were the most logical, Light." Says Shadow. "And you will do anything for logic to win, even if it's against so-called fate"
Light remained mute.
"What are you planning, brother?".
Light looks confused, then smiles, "Well, to reset the universe is not my goal, but to reset life instead. I will recreate it again to reset the prophecy and defy fate.
"For that, you need father's power, "Shadow says.
Light stood up, confident and determined.
"I will possess it soon, brother."
[It begins].
