Chapter 14 - The Interview (3): The Problematic CEO's Assistant

As they were about to leave the office, someone suddenly burst in, surprising everyone.

When the interview panel saw the person, their expressions immediately turned respectful.

Long Tian turned around and saw a young lady.

Her beauty was unique, making her stand out among women, but Long Tian had grown accustomed to such beauty.

The young lady glanced at everyone until her gaze settled on Hao Zhang, the middle-aged man.

"How's the interview going?" Wen Xin asked.

"Yes, it went well. We are even done with it," Hao Zhang replied.

Wen Xin was surprised. The interview was supposed to take one to two days, but they had already completed it.

Hearing this, she knew the person the CEO had recommended had been selected.

"Hmm, it seems you have met the person the CEO recommended," she said, and they nodded in agreement.

A cold sweat formed on their backs. Thank goodness they had accepted Long Tian. The CEO sent her assistant for the interview showed how much importance she placed on him.

The young men were a bit jealous, wondering what favor Long Tian had done for the CEO to warrant such importance.

"So where is the person?" Wen Xin asked.

The interview panel's eyes subconsciously flicked to Long Tian, and Wen Xin noticed.

She looked at Long Tian and was surprised.

Was he the one?

It wasn't that he was handsome; the only thing notable about him was his expensive clothes and confident aura.

But it was enough to shock her. It was a guy Meng Lingxue had recommended.

She tilted her head, measuring him again. Something about him felt out of place.

His eyes showed no reverence when the interview panel greeted her or when she spoke, even though all of this revealed the close relationship with Meng Lingxue, the CEO.

No fawning. No sucking up to her. No reverence.

She nodded and turned to Long Tian. "Follow me."

Her words sounded like absolute commands, which irked Long Tian.

He didn't move from where he stood, as if he hadn't heard her. Wen Xin, walking ahead, looked back and saw that Long Tian hadn't followed.

The interview panel looked at Long Tian in shock; they could see he had heard Wen Xin's words, but what audacity did he have not to heed them?

They shivered for him, the middle-aged man and the young woman sending him signals to follow Wen Xin to avoid her bad side and her wrath.

Wen Xin glanced at Long Tian. "Didn't you hear my words?"

"I think we should speak here," Long Tian replied.

Everyone was stumped by his reply, and Wen Xin wondered if she had heard him wrong.

"You…" Wen Xin was angered by his reply, wanting to reprimand him but feeling helpless.

For Meng Lingxue to show such concern over a man was not ordinary. Her priority was to find out the relationship between them.

She pressed a hand to her forehead in frustration, then exhaled heavily.

"Excuse us." She turned to the interview panel. They rushed out, not wanting to be implicated; their gaze on Long Tian was filled with pity.

He should have just followed the order.

When Long Tian saw they had left, he looked at Wen Xin. "So what do you want to say? Is it about how I know the CEO, or who I am to her, checking whether we are close?"

Wen Xin, who had wanted to speak, opened her mouth in shock. She was at a loss for words.

Long Tian saw her expression and knew his words were right.

"I owed her a favor, and she decided to repay it. I am still surprised by her identity," Long Tian said calmly.

"If you are looking for more answers, then I think you should ask her yourself." He continued.

Wen Xin listened, silenced before she could even speak.

If she could ask Meng Lingxue, why would she have asked him?

Her mind dwelt on his words, finding them plausible. She knew Meng Lingxue was the type not to owe people favors.

But Long Tian's way of speaking made her jaw tighten in frustration. She took deep breaths to calm herself.

"Okay, thanks. I will lead you to your office," she said.

Long Tian walked forward until he noticed Wen Xin standing in place like a statue.

"Hey, aren't you leading me?" Long Tian raised his eyebrows, a bit confused about what was wrong with Wen Xin.

Even though Wen Xin had said that, she had expected Long Tian to refuse. She had only said so to leave a good impression on him.

But Long Tian didn't follow the plot in her mind.

She had already said it, so she had no option but to bite the bullet.

Long Tian looked at her as she rushed out in anger. He shook his head. He had no interest in unnecessary trouble.

She was the one who had said she wanted to lead me, so what's wrong now? He didn't force her to say so.

She led Long Tian to his office, which was not far from where the interview had taken place.

They reached there, and everyone's eyes were glued to them—to Wen Xin.

Everyone knew her identity, and each was surprised by her arrival.

Wen Xin looked at all of them. "Good afternoon, everyone."

"Good afternoon, ma'am," they replied in unison.

"This is the new sales representative. You guys should take care of him," Wen Xin said, pointing at Long Tian.

All eyes were on him, their thoughts spiraling about why he had been brought by Wen Xin. Was he a big shot?

"Good afternoon, my name is Long Tian. It's a pleasure working with you all," Long Tian introduced himself.

A few exchanged glances.

Everyone erupted into cheers as they clapped, welcoming him.
