Chapter 9 - Episode 9 - Genesis

(The scene starts off with Itally entering the indoor pond as Ra'ell and Hibai are fishing.)

"How was your chat with Riya?" Asked Ra'ell.

"Mrs. Eben was very 'enlightening', she told me a lot of things." Itally replied as he glanced at the corpses of the bird and fish.

"Well, I don't really care what you talked about. Just sit down over here and fish with us." Ra'ell said as he patted on a patch of grass next to him.

"Yeah, whoever catches the biggest one wins gets this precious stone." Hibai says as he holds up a round pebble-like gem with green and purple accents.

"Oh, okay then." Itally says as he picks a fishing rod and sits next to Ra'ell.

"I can't believe you are using him to get stuff." He whispered to Ra'ell.

"Uhh, no, I'm not. He just likes putting up rewards for whatever he is doing. That's the way he's been raised." Ra'ell whispered back.

 "Oh, I'm sorry." Itally apologized.

"Hey, enough planning on how to beat me, I'm gonna win no matter what." Hibai declared.

(The trio casts their rods and started fishing, they all casually sit and relax while waiting for a catch, minutes go by and Itally can be seen with a big pile of fishes next to him compared to the others.)

"How is he catching so many, though none is particularly big? It's all a numbers game." Ra'ell thought as he examined Itally.

He suddenly notices, that he vibrates the string of his rod, periodically, "Ah, so by vibrating the string the bait seems more alive and attracts more fish, but it is a bit slow, so I will have to take a more proactive approach, even Hibai is ahead of me in terms of numbers." Ra'ell thought to himself, he then stands up and starts flailing the line of his fishing rod like a meteor hammer before striking the water and pulling out a big fish, the biggest yet, and with that very action tension filled the room, as they all began pouring their all into the competition.

Minutes of pure intensity as they cast their rods as hard as they can, they thought not of the prize, all that filled their minds was the thoughts of winning and winning alone, all of a sudden a loud snap can be heard, the string of Hibai's rod had snapped, "Aw man, and that was my favorite rod, oh well, I'll just get a new one, off you go." Hibai said as he stood up and tried to kick the rod into the pond, but before he could, Itally grabbed his foot and said, "If it is really your favorite you shouldn't just throw it away because the line cut, look I have a lute and its strings snap a lot, a lot more than you think actually, but because I love it so much I fix it every single time, how about I help you fix it?"

Hibai replies, "Okay, but only as long as Ra'ell waits." The two then look at Ra'ell as he begrudgingly drops his fishing rod in compliance. Itally pulls out a spool of string from his bag and guides Hibai's hand as they replace the line. In a matter of minutes, the rod is fixed.

"Alright, we can go back to fishing." Hibai cheered.

"No, you can't young man, today's Logday remember, so we have to go to church in 10 minutes." Mrs. Eben says as he enters the room.

"But mom, we are still fishing. Can't we skip this week." Hibai whined.

"You think the God of Knowledge would understand you skipping service to fish." She replied.

"Oh, I'm sure he would understand, I mean he knows and understands all things, right?" Hibai said with a cheeky tone.

"Nice try, but we are going now." His mother demanded.

"But Dad doesn't go, so why should I." Hibai complained.

"Wait, so your Dad doesn't pray?" Itally asked.

"He hasn't for the past 6 years." Ra'ell answered.

"B-but that doesn't make any sense, one should pray to at least one of the 7 orthodox Gods." Itally said with a confused expression.

"There are 7 Gods?" Hibai asked,

"Yes, there are and they all influence our creation, with their level of influence varying from person to person, with that influence determining particular features about them, and most people pray to the God who influenced their creation the most." Itally stated.

"Oh wow, so mom we pray to Logus because he did the most in our making?" Hibai asked.

"Actually no, we worship him because he is the God of our great king, and it is said that it was Logus who took him to such a level. So we pray to him so that we, too, can attain at least a fraction of that grace. Most humans do so as we feel that Logus favors humans more than any other race amongst the Gods." Mrs. Eben said.

"What are the other Gods?" Hibai asked with wonder in his eyes.

"That'll have to be later we're going to be late." Mrs. Eben said.

 "But we're fishing." Hibai replied.

"There's no need to worry about that. The pond is empty, and sadly, Itally caught the biggest and most fish, so he wins." Ra'ell interrupted with a dissatisfied look on his face.

"REALLY?!" Hibai and Itally said in unison.

"Alright, here's your prize, I'll be going now. When I get back, you'll tell me about the 7 Gods." Hibai said as he handed over the gem.

"How about I tell you on the way there..." Itally said as Ra'ell interrupted him, "...I mean we are guarding your stinky butt." He said as he ruffled Hibai's hair, "Alright, alright, let's get going. we're late already, gosh!"

(A few minutes later, a magnificent stagecoach made of the finest materials can be seen riding down a murky road lined by poverty stricken onlookers who watch and gossip in awe of the sight, even though it had already become a weekly sight, inside the group can be seen comfortably relaxing.)

"Tell me about the Gods already." Hibai said as he tugged on Itally's sleeves.

"Alright, but the best way to do so is to tell the 'Creation Story'." Itally responded.

Everyone within the carriage looks at him with a puzzled expression, "I understand the look you're all giving, and I'm not surprised you know not of the 'Creation Story' as only scholars or those who have a direct connection with the Gods themselves know of this. As there is still a lot of nuance surrounding it, since it was written in the ancient language, 'Puris' aka 'God Tongue' which is still being decoded to this very day. As such it has been kept secret from the public, but I will tell you nonetheless."

 Itally then clears his throat before saying;

"In the beginning there was nothing but emptiness, an endless void, but on one faithful day, a bright light flashed within the void, and filled it with countless stars and planets, this light was the first God, the Elder God, Dainixi the God of Elements, and with their birth was the birth of the universe as we know it.

The next day, two lights flashed within the newly formed universe, and they filled the universe with life, but that life came to end only to form anew, this cycled continued on and on, these lights were the twin Gods, Gaia and Minu, the Goddess of Life, and the God of Death, on that day life was prevalent

A day of silence was held to honor the lives that were being lost constantly.

On the fourth day, a new light shone upon all, and with its radiant glory, it filled the universe with magic, mysticism and wonder, this light came to be known as Hecate the Goddess of Magic.

And on the fifth day, three lights shone for all life to see, and with their brightness, they brought about instincts, knowledge, self awareness, emotions, chaos, randomness, and free will, these three lights were the triplet Gods, Logus, Anthroa and Kartoz, the God of Knowledge, Goddess of Emotions, and the God of Chaos, on that day wisdom was given to all.

A day was given for the creatures below to experience their newfound emotions.

Another day was spent for all to do things they had never done before.

And with that, everything came to be, the creation of all things was accomplished.

And we shall commemorate this with the naming of these 7 days

Dainday

Gaiday

Minday

Hecaday

Logday

Antday

Karday

And these shall be the 7 days of the week from now and forever more."

"So that's how everything was made, hmm, even people?" Ra'ell said as he digested all that he just heard.

"Oh no, people came about later than that. There's a story about it as well." Itally replied.

 "It goes a little bit like this." He said as he cleared his throat once again before he spoke;

"On one faithful day, the Gods gathered and decided to fill this new world of theirs with beings that will rule above all, and these beings came to be known as humans.

They ruled the earth for years before the Gods decided to make lesser variants, three were made, Elfaes ,Wylders, and Dwarcs.

They were made by mixing humans with new additions.

The Elfaes were made by mixing humans with insects.

The Wylders were made by mixing humans with beasts.

The Dwarcs were made by mixing humans with the earth itself

The Dwarcs and Wylders roamed the land as raging giants, the Elfaes dominated the skies as the sky was there domain, seeing them on land was a rare sight, but we humanswe were a formidable force that countered all that stood before us."

"But these two stories are heavily criticized due to some unfactual points, for example, it's common knowledge that Dwarcs are the second smallest race, Elfaes can't fly, only glide, and that the concept of life came to be billions of years after the formation of the Earth..." Itally stated as he got cut off by Ra'ell saying, "Or the fact that humans are the weakest race."

Itally then replies, "Exactly, the second story was apparently written by a human, so do with that as you will, although there are a couple of theories but there's no need for that."

As he finished, the coach man knocks on the front of the stagecoach signaling their arrival, "Oh it looks like we have arrived." Said Mrs. Eben.

As the group got alighted from the carriage a road closing of to 7 distinct buildings can be seen, 6 of which are a reflection of the state of the city, while the last and only open one was a lustrous building with themes of blue.

"Thank you for the stories." Hibai said.

"Yes, they were very... enlightening, by the way which of the 7 do you worship?" Asked Mrs. Eben.

"I primarily worship two, Hecate and Anthroa, but I missed the worship hour yesterday." Itally responded.

"None." Ra'ell responded sharply and nonchalantly.

 "You too?" Itally asked.

"Look unlike Hibachi, I have an almost inexistent connection with every God, and every time I did pray, they either weren't answered or the opposite effect happened, so that's that." Ra'ell answered.

"Oh, okay, I'll be going with them to pray." Itally responded as he was processing what Ra'ell just said.

"Why, you just said you worship Hecate and Anthroa?" Ra'ell asked.

"I said primarily, everyone worships every God to some extent, like to Logus during exams or Gaia during sickness or Kartoz during wars." Itally replied.

"Whatever." Ra'ell says as the three enters inside the lustrous building, the 'Portland Church of Logus'.

(Inside the church, the three can be seen performing religious activities.)

"Wait, if he has such a low connection with the Gods how is he so strong, I can't imagine how strong he would be if he had an average connection talk less of a strong one." Itally thought to himself.

A few seats away, a young girl walks up to Hibai and whispers in his ear, "Did you hear there's a new hero in town? 'The Armored Adventurer' and I heard he is pretty strong."
