Chapter 4 - I’ll see you all again soon

At the man's words, Kevin quickly opened his mouth

"Who a-"

"Ah~ sorry, we don't know anyone by your description!"

Covering Kevin's mouth, Azreal quickly put on the kindest expression he could muster

"Is that so? My apologies for scaring you then."

The blond man seemed to accept his reply.

With a gentle smile, he waved at them

"I'll get going for now then."

"Yes, I hope you have a good trip."

Nodding his head, Azreal still had his hand on Kevin's mouth,

At this point, Kevin had given up on protesting and simply had a displeased expression on his face. How could he protest? There were people looking this way!

Watching the thin man's figure disappear into the crowd, Azreal let go of Kevin's mouth

"You should calm down."

"Funny for you to be saying that, the last time he got injured you-"

"Is now the time?"

Watching Azreal's eye twitch, Kevin quickly shut his mouth about Elijah, instead deciding to talk about the man

"Why are we letting that man off? He's clearly looking for Elijah."

Not saying anything, Azreal glanced at the crowd the man had disappeared to before pulling out his phone.

Typing something, Azreal had a cold, calculated expression on his face.

"What are you doing?"

Kevin leaned his head, trying to look at Azreal's phone.

"Let's go home."

Kevin's eyes widened slightly before returning to normal.

"Okay."

The two walked away, not to the hotel but to an alley.

****

The alley was dark, it seemed like the perfect place to do crime

It was also the best place to silence someone without being seen by others

The two walked deeper and deeper, the sounds of their footsteps could be heard louder and louder

As the two boys neared a wall, Azreal stopped on his tracks. Silently, kevin pulled a dagger out and turned around

"How long do you plan on following us?"

Azreal, who had also turned around, pulled a falx out of his bag.

No reply came for a while, but the two boys still maintained their stance

"Ah, I shouldn't have underestimated people like you, huh?"

'His voice…'

It was the same calm tone from earlier

In the dark, a figure stood up before walking closer and closer,

"How did you even follow us? The alley is dark but…"

"Did you find me out by hearing my footsteps?"

The man stepped into the sunlight, his blond hair glistening in the sun.

His gentle smile was still on his face.

"Don't you know stalking is a misdemeanor?"

Kevin's tone was sharp

He observed the two, weapons out, and clasped his hands together.

"I have no intent on fighting you guys, I just want to know where that guy is."

"Why do you want to know that?"

With a sharp rebuke, Azreal straightened his stance more.

Though the blond boy looked harmless, there was a bit of mana flowing off him.

In this world, Mana is everywhere, it can be found in food, water, animals and even inside humans.

Sadly, though mana is present inside humans, many humans lack the ability to properly wield mana, whether because they were not properly trained or they didn't have enough.

The mana found in the blond boy was faint, if anyone saw this they'd assume it was someone who didn't have the ability to wield mana. Heck, most of the people wouldn't have even noticed he had mana. Especially when a mix of divinity and mana were being condensed in this alley

But…

'The mana feels dangerous.'

Kevin tightened his grip on his dagger, as if he also bad the same feeling.

"But alas, it seems fight is unavoidable."

Azreal's eyes widened as the boy turned around.

Using his barehands, the boy caught a blade aimed directly at his shoulder.

The boy had a calm expression looking at the person who aimed a sword at him.

Saoirse had a surprised expression, but she quickly leaped off, pulling her sword away.

Blood fell as the boy looked at his hand, as if surprised it had been cut

But there was no time to focus on that,

Seemingly out of nowhere, he pulled a rapier and countered against Azreal strike in frightening speed.

As the boy aimed at Azreal's sword, trying to disarm him, he twisted his body mid air, dodging the dagger Kevin had aimed at his abodomen.

The boy leaped back, wind pushing Kevin away. His back now against the wall, cornered both sides.

He stabbed the rapier to the ground

"4 against one? I'm happy you think so highly of me."

'He noticed?'

Azreal gripped his falx tighter.

"Well, I have no intention on fighting you four, I'm not too fond of violence. I'll see you all again soon."

The rapier disappeared into nothingness and just as the three were about to open their mouth, he disappeared.

"What the…"

The three stared quietly

"Serena!"

Saoirse quickly shouted out Serena's name, frantically looking around.

"I'm fine, where did he go!"

Serena, who had been hiding, quickly dashed in.

Earlier, she had been using her divinity to prepare a barrier and some elements to wield against the boy.

But the boy had now disappeared.

'How did he notice?'

"Did he do anything to you? It took longer than normal for you to make it."

Kevin quickly ran to be next to Serena, looking at her worryingly

"No, my concentration was ruined when he managed to notice that there were 4 of us. It's my fault."

Serena ran a hand through her hair, making it messy as she sighed. She seemed disappointed in herself

"It's not the time to think about whose fault it is."

Azreal's cold voice quickly pulled the three back to their senses.

"We should get back to Elijah, now."
