Chapter 2 - The Force Reborn: Anakin Skywalker's New Destiny

Anakin was sitting on his bed, meditating, when he opened his eyes, he was no longer Anakin, but Cyrus Alexander. He looked down at himself, then stood to look at himself in the mirror.

"Amazing!" Before long, he felt his body freeze, and then information poured in. All of Anakin's memories became his own. He remembered his time on Tatooine when he was a young boy.

The last ten years of grueling Jedi training, his conflicts with Obi-Wan, and the change in relationship from dependent child to self-assured friend. He also felt Anakin's arrogance and his battle with his inner darkness.

"No wonder he goes evil, it's there at the surface. I can't believe these Jedi can't detect the lurking darkness. Maybe they can. Mace always seems cautious about him. He obviously doesn't trust him."

The comm buzzed, Cyrus reached for the button and clicked it, "Padawan Skywalker, we are arriving at the Coruscant spaceport. Master Kenobi asks you join him on the bridge."

"Understood," Cyrus responded, clicking off the comm.

"So we're in a Consular-class light cruiser, just like the beginning of The Phantom Menace. I can't believe I'm really in Star Wars!" Reaching for his lightsaber and robe, he put them on as Anakin's memory dictated.

He stopped to feel the force, "Amazing, I have the Force!"

When he left his quarters, Anakin looked every bit the serene and serious Jedi. Anakin didn't like to put his hood up most of the time, so Cyrus wore it down. Anakin only liked wearing it up when he was trying to look mysterious; he found the hood annoying, usually.

When Anakin arrived on the bridge, they were only approaching their landing port.

"Oh, you decided to join us, my young padawan," Obi-Wan chuckled.

"You know I was meditating, master, and I came as soon as you rang, like a dog."

"I can see your meditation hasn't dulled your tongue."

"Are we going to the Temple first, or would you like to get something to eat?" Cyrus didn't jump at the bait. If he were Anakin, the pair would already be at it with each other.

Obi-Wan felt a buzz and pulled out a communicator. After reading something on it, he tucked it away.

"It would seem the Masters already have a new assignment for us. We'll be visiting an old friend, Senator Amidala."

Cyrus looked surprised but then realized why they were going to see the Senator, "Great." It's been a long time since I've seen the Senator."

"Senator? For someone you've talked about so frequently over the years, you're acting very calm," Obi-Wan examined his padawan.

"I've been reflecting on things, and I think you're right, I should let go of my obsession, Master."

Surprised but calm, Obi-Wan considered his student, "Right. Good."

At Senator Amidala's suite, Padme walked back and forth nervously. She couldn't stop thinking about Corde, her last words haunted her, "M'lady, I'm so sorry. I've failed you, Senator."

Jar Jar watched Padme for some time, "Mesa be wonderin' issa yousa okee day?"

"I'm fine, Jar Jar, having a good friend like you here helps," she smiled at the guiless Gungan.

Smiling, Jar Jar gave Padme a big hug, "Mesa be here all de time, wesa life friends."

The ding of the door interrupted Jar Jar and Padme's moment. Padme, Jar Jar, Captain Typhon, and Dorme gathered at the door as Anakin and Obi-Wan entered. Obi-Wan was ahead of Anakin, slightly hiding him from the others.

"Obi? Obi! Mesa so smilen to seein yousa!"

"Good to see you again, Jar Jar," Obi-Wan smiled at the ridiculous creature.

"Mesa palos here! Lookie, lookie, Senator. Desa Jedi arriven."

"It's a great pleasure to see you again, milady," Obi-wan gave a broad and charming smile.

"It has been far too long, Master Kenobi. Ani? My goodness, you've grown."

"It happens, it has been ten years," Anakin responded stoically.

"Ani, you'll always be that little boy I knew on Tatooine," she smiled genuinely at Anakin.

"It is good to see you again." Anakin's cool reply caught the Senator's attention, but she was soon redirected by Obi-Wan.

"Our presence here will be invisible, milady, I can assure you."

"I'm Captain Typho of Her Majesty's security service. Queen Jamillia has been informed of your assignment. I am grateful you are here, Master Kenobi. The situation is more dangerous than the senator will admit."

"I don't need more security. I need answers. I want to know who's trying to kill me."

"We are here to protect you, Senator, not to start an investigation."

"Don't worry, Senator, I'm sure the culrprit will reveal themselves. After all, they've failed to hit their target," Anakin chimed in.

"Anakin, we are not using the Senator as bait," Obi-Wan commented.

"I didn't say we were, I was merely stating that it is likely that since the Senator is still alive, they'll probably make another attempt on her life. We should plan for that."

Padme and Captain Typho looked at one another uneasily. Jar Jar looked like he was trying to think but was probably chasing butterflies in his head.

"You have a point, my young padawan. Senator, we aren't trying to make you bait, but no matter what, it's likely they will strike again." Obi-Wan confirmed Anakin's theory.

"It's alright even if you wanted to use me as bait, I need to find out who is after me. I owe it to Corde."

"Fine, but you could probably do with a good night's sleep," Anakin commented and rose.

"Where are you going?" Obi-Wan asked.

"To check the current security layout," Anakin walked away studying the suite.

"Master Kenobi, what would you have us do?" Captain Typho asked.

"The only person who should stay is the Senator, the rest of you should return to your quarters. Captain Typho, you may station yourself as you see fit outside of the quarters.

Once arrangements were made, Obi-Wan and Anakin were left to monitor the situation inside the Senator's quarters.

"Where's the feed inside the quarters?"

"The Senator asked that we give her privacy while she slept. R2 is monitoring in the room while I can sense everything happening in the room," Anakin looked confident.

"Your powers aren't that great, not yet."

"They are, but I wouldn't mind having the cameras on."

Anakin had a scowl across his face, "Anakin, is something bothering you?"

Seemingly caught off guard, "I have a bad feeling that the Senator's attack was the result of an inside job."

"I think there must have been some collusion involved."

"Exactly, and the direction my thoughts lead me...I don't like it," Anakin stared at the floor.

"Anakin, what is it?"

"Have you ever heard of the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise?"

"Darth Plagueis the Wise? Anakin, I don't think I would ever call someone who serves the darkside, wise."

"Have you heard of him?"

"No."

"It's strange, I've never heard of him before either. I even checked the Jedi Archive, there isn't a record of him."

"There hasn't been a record of any Sith lords for a thousand years. I don't think that's odd. It wasn't until Naboo that we discovered the Sith still lived," Obi-wan was confused by Anakin's line of thinking.

"It's odd, isn't it. We know many Sith lords of the past, but not this one."

"Anakin, enough with the mystery, what are you getting at?"

"For a thousand years, we don't hear a peep out of the Sith, but now there's a story about a Sith not in our records. Even stranger, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is the one who asked me the question."

"You aren't suggestin--"

"--If it's him, a lot of things make sense. He's treated me like a son since I was ten. He would take time to speak with me, check on my. I've always felt so close to him, so you'll understand if it's hard for to say this."

"I think Supreme Chancellor Palpatine--" Anakin felt a disturbance in the force and started toward Padme's room, followed closely by Obi-Wan.

Two assasin bugs were about to strike Padme, but Anakin defly sliced them in half while they were hovering over Padme.

Obi-Wan spotted a droid at the window that delivered the little assasins and leapt out the window grabbing onto the droid as it sped away.

"Stay here!" Anakin commanded Padme as he rushed out of the room.

Stiil in shock, she watched as Anaking rushed away.

Finding an appropriate air speeder, Anakin activated it and flew after his Master.

Obi-Wan, meanwhile held onto the droid for dear life nearly having several accidents. Finally, the Clawdite bounty hunter Zam Wessel, shot the droid and forced Obi-Wan to let go. As he fell through the air, Anakin caught up, allowing his Master to safely land in the air-speeder.

"It took you long enough," Obi-Wan huffed.

"Well, you know, Master, I had trouble finding the right air-speeder, you know one that said me "A man who always shows up in time to save his Master's life."

"Cheeky," Obi-wan remarked. Don't let him get away!"

Anakin followed the bounty hunter but took a different way at the end. As Obi-Wan complained, Anakin suddenly leapt out of the vehicle. Obi-Wan swung into the driver's seat, "I hate it when he does that."

Anakin fell, but his timing was perfect and he landed directly on top of the Clawdite's speeder. Finally forcing Anakin off, the Clawdite was surprised to find the young Jedi managed some sabotage to her vehicle forcing her to crash land. Anakin landed in the speeder Obi-Wan was driving. They immediately landed and saw the bounty hunter's vehicle was empty.

The tracked her inside the bar where they ambushed her and Obi-Wan took an arm. They managed to subdue Wessel outside. She began to answer their questions when Anakin sensed something and used a force push to shove the bounty hunter and his Master out of the way. An object struck the ground where Wessel was moments before.

"I was waiting for that," he muttered to himself as he turned to find where the dart was fired from. He saw and man in silver an purple armor fly into the sky and speed away.

"His jet pack is so cool," he proclaimed. He waslked over to Wessel who was in shock at nearly getting killed by her former partner. "Feel like talking now?" Anakin asked the stunned being.

"Yes," She responded resolutely.
