Chapter 33 - Chen Tai-Lung’s Wife’s Grievance

Not just one street—

inside a single building alone, there could be dozens of shops of every kind.

Once Lok Road was taken,

a large number of skilled women would fall into their hands—

which was the same as locking down half of Tsim East's money pipeline.

Women with skills

were the most valuable production assets in the nightlife industry.

"Understood, Boss. I'll arrange it immediately."

Ten minutes later—

A-Bu led Da Dong and the other three onto Lok Road.

The moment they stepped in, more than a dozen Hung Thai goons poured out from the alleys.

The leader, a yellow-haired punk, spat on the ground and pointed at A-Bu's nose, shouting:

"Hey! Wo Shing's trash—do you know you've crossed the line?!"

Before the words even finished leaving his mouth,

a scrawny monkey beside him grabbed a beer bottle from the roadside

and smashed it toward one of A-Bu's men.

A-Bu's eyes went cold.

He sidestepped the sneak attack,

drove his elbow straight into the attacker's ribs.

The skinny man screamed and doubled over.

A-Bu seized the beer bottle mid-motion

and smashed it backward into another thug's forehead.

Da Dong and the others didn't waste words—

each of them grabbed two opponents,

their punches targeting ribs and soft spots.

One man was kicked in the knee and dropped to the ground.

Another had his arm twisted behind his back and slammed against a wall.

The earlier shouting and curses

quickly turned into cries of pain.

In less than thirty seconds,

twelve Hung Thai goons were sprawled across the street.

The yellow-haired leader clutched his swollen wrist,

crying with a twisted face:

"Big brother, spare us! We won't dare again!"

A-Bu kicked away the wooden stick at his feet and said coldly:

"Go tell Chen Mei and Chen Tai-Lung—

Lok Road isn't theirs to decide."

"Next time you talk back,

it won't be your hands that get broken."

With that, he turned and left with his men,

leaving behind a street full of groaning bodies.

The news quickly reached Chen Mei's side.

At the time, Chen Mei's son, Chen Tai-Lung,

was drinking with women.

After hearing the goons' tearful report,

he slammed his glass to the ground, liquor splashing everywhere.

"Fuck! Someone dares touch my people?!"

"Where the hell is that dog Wai Kat-Cheung?!"

From the corner, Wai Kat-Cheung immediately stood up.

"Brother Lung."

"Gather five hundred brothers! Grab weapons and hit Nathan Road!

Smash all of Lin Yao's places—

let him know how ruthless Hung Thai is!"

Chen Tai-Lung pointed at the door, murderous intent written all over his face.

The nearby goons were already reaching for weapons at their waists,

just waiting for Wai Kat-Cheung's nod.

"Hold it."

A deep voice cut through the room.

Chen Mei stepped out from behind the screen,

holding a Yixing purple clay teapot.

His face was expressionless,

but his presence alone pressed down on everyone in the room.

Chen Tai-Lung froze.

"Dad… why are you out here?"

"Wo Shing's trash are already riding on our heads.

If we don't teach them a lesson,

who'll still fear Hung Thai?!"

"Teach them a lesson?"

Chen Mei interrupted calmly.

"First, make it clear who moved first."

He walked to the center of the hall,

his gaze landing on the goon who had just reported.

"Repeat what you said.

Did Lin Yao start it,

or did our people strike first?"

The goon shrank back,

not daring to meet Chen Tai-Lung's eyes.

"It was… it was Brother Mao who cursed them first…

then Brother Hou smashed a beer bottle…

Lin Yao's people only fought back afterward…"

Chen Tai-Lung's face flushed red.

"But they beat our men that badly—"

"That's enough. I know."

Chen Mei cut him off.

"Right now, we're in the wrong.

If we really take five hundred men to smash their turf…"

"Wo Shing might seize the chance

to come after us instead."

"Wo Shing may be a mess right now,

but overall, they're still stronger than us."

He turned to Wai Kat-Cheung, his tone easing slightly.

"Ah Cheung, take a few men

to check on the injured brothers.

Medical fees come out of the hall."

"As for Lin Yao—

don't touch him for now."

"I want to see what tricks he's planning next."

Wai Kat-Cheung nodded and left.

Chen Tai-Lung stood there, his face dark.

"Dad, this won't do!

They're already hitting our doorstep.

If we don't respond at all,

we'll be laughed at in the jianghu!"

"Wo Shing is falling apart now—

their boss is just that useless old fart.

What are we afraid of?!"

"A-Lung, do you not understand what I'm saying?"

"This is only temporary restraint.

It doesn't mean I'm giving him face."

"Lin Yao beat Hung Yi and got arrogant.

I want to see what he's really trying to do—

then we decide our move."

"And one more thing—

Little Overlord has been getting too close to East Star lately.

Our internal situation must stay stable."

"You take people and talk to him."

"If he insists on acting alone,

deal with him directly."

Chen Mei lowered his voice

and gave Chen Tai-Lung a quiet set of instructions.

Stabilizing the inside before fighting the outside—

this principle was clear to him.

But Chen Tai-Lung was furious.

"Dad, if that bastard Little Overlord dares join East Star,

I'll wipe out his entire family!"

"Then go find out the facts first.

Don't act recklessly."

"With your temperament,

how can I ever hand the organization to you?"

Chen Mei looked at his only son,

disappointment written across his face.

"Fine, I'll go—damn Little Overlord…"

Before Chen Tai-Lung could finish,

Chen Mei waved him off like shooing a fly.

Chen Tai-Lung left angrily.

The villa finally fell quiet.

A graceful figure emerged from behind the screen.

It was Chen Tai-Lung's wife—Ah Heung.

Wearing a fitted qipao that highlighted her curves,

she walked to Chen Mei's side, her voice full of grievance.

"Dad… A-Lung has been out drinking and fooling around every day.

He hasn't come home for seven nights straight.

You should really talk to him."

Chen Mei sighed, his tone softening.

"Ah Heung, endure it a little longer.

Once this period passes, he'll settle down."

"Endure?"

Her eyes reddened, voice rising.

"He doesn't even give me household money anymore.

The private savings I had…

I've almost spent them all."

Chen Mei was silent for a few seconds.

He opened the safe, counted out a stack of Hong Kong dollars,

and placed it into her hands.

"Here's twenty thousand.

Use it first—don't be frugal."

"As long as I'm here,

no other woman will ever step through the Chen family's door."

Ah Heung accepted the money, fingers gripping the bills.

Then she spoke softly again:

"Dad… I want to go find a job."

"Staying at home every day…

I'm going crazy."

"A job?"

Chen Mei snapped his head up, his tone turning cold.

"What kind of job?"

"Are you planning to go back

to making those kinds of films?"

Ah Heung had once acted in romance films—

taking the early Li Han-Cheung route,

suggestive but not explicit.

But in Chen Mei's eyes,

it was still work from the "lower nine trades."

He was Hung Thai's Dragon Head—

a man who prided himself on dignity.

How could he allow his daughter-in-law

to return to that line of work?

"No, Dad! Proper films!"

Ah Heung hurried to explain.

"I want to act in comedies.

There are even production teams asking me to shoot commercials!"

"Just to pass the time—

I won't embarrass the Chen family."
