The moment the call ended, Jun didn't waste a second. He grabbed his jacket, slipped out of the house without telling anyone, and quickly hailed a cab.
All the way, his mind kept circling around one thought: The departure is tomorrow… so why an emergency today?
Back at home, Mika, Sanju, and Mahi were sitting together, speaking in hushed tones. Suddenly, Sanju turned to Mika and asked, "Do you… like Jun?"
Mika's eyes instantly turned cold.
"Sanju," she said softly, "if anyone finds out about this… you know what will happen."
Mahi said directly, "And what will you do then?"
The room seemed to grow colder. Sanju quickly tried to ease the tension. "No, no, that's not what I meant," he said, raising his hands toward Mahi. "Think about it neither of us could ever defeat her."
It wasn't a joke, Mahi fell silent and Sanju looked back at Mika. "Alright. I won't tell anyone. But don't you think… you should tell him yourself?"
Mika stayed quiet for a few seconds. "Maybe… I should," she admitted softly,"But not yet."
Mahi stood up abruptly,"You two can keep your drama. I'm leaving." And with that, she walked out. Sanju exhaled deeply. "Everything's getting complicated," he murmured.
When Jun arrived at the lab, he found Frank and Steven talking to his father. Both of them looked serious.
"Uncle, what happened? Why did you call me here like this?" Jun asked as he stepped inside.
Frank gave a faint smile. "Don't worry. It's not an emergency. I just need to give you something."
"Give me something?" Jun asked,"Is it any kind of puzzled."
Steven gestured toward an old book lying on the table. "This book," he said,"We wrote it."
Jun frowned.
"It will help you absorb and control alien powers on Icolis," Frank explained calmly.
Steven added, "Without it, you'll only operate at 24–37% efficiency. But with this book, you can reach 81–93%."
Jun's heartbeat quickened. Frank picked up the book and placed it in Jun's hands. On the cover, bold letters read:"MIMIC ABILITY." Jun stared at the title, his fingers trembling slightly.
"When… was this written?" he asked quietly.
Frank glanced at Steven.
"A long time ago," Frank replied,"But it's not meant for everyone."
A strange silence filled the room. Jun didn't realize it yet, but this wasn't just a book. It was something that would change the course of his life forever.
